Norway (i/ˈnɔːrweɪ/ NAWR-way; Norwegian: Norge (Bokmål) or Noreg (Nynorsk)), officially the Kingdom of Norway, is a sovereign and unitary monarchy whose territory comprises the western portion of the Scandinavian Peninsula plus the island Jan Mayen and the archipelago of Svalbard. The Antarctic Peter I Island and the sub-Antarctic Bouvet Island are dependent territories and thus not considered part of the Kingdom. Norway also lays claim to a section of Antarctica known as Queen Maud Land. Until 1814, the Kingdom included the Faroe Islands (since 1035), Greenland (1261), and Iceland (1262). It also included Shetland and Orkney until 1468.
Norway has a total area of 385,252 square kilometres (148,747 sq mi) and a population of 5,109,059 people (2014). The country shares a long eastern border with Sweden (1,619 km or 1,006 mi long). Norway is bordered by Finland and Russia to the north-east, and the Skagerrak Strait to the south, with Denmark on the other side. Norway has an extensive coastline, facing the North Atlantic Ocean and the Barents Sea.

At least seven people were killed in the blast and nine more in the camp shootings, the peaceful nation's worst violence since World War II. Oslo police said 9 or 10 people were killed at the camp on Utoya island, where the youth wing of the Labor Party was holding a summer camp for hundreds of youths. Acting Police Chief Sveinung Sponheim says a man was arrested in the shooting, and the suspect had been observed in Oslo before the explosion there.

Ever since the big announcement carried worldwide in 2015 that Oslo, Norway's new progressive city government planned to make the downtown car-free by 2019, I immediately put it on my list of places I wanted to go and see what's up. And that only got more intriguing a year later when following that fanfare, there wasn't a ton of news or documentation updating us on Oslo's progress towards its amazing goal. So in fall 2016 I went- not knowing if I'd find if progress was slow or fast, and how much I could show visually. First off, it is a lovely, clean city. It already features some nice blocks of car-free or car-light pedestrian zones which are heavily populated even late at night. And I knew it was a good sign when I stepped off the bus from the airport a block later and I stumbled upon c...

A video text response to various disinformation agents on YT & other places, who suggest Islamic culture & law (sharia) are the answers to the current problems facing the West. YT user 108Morris108 regularly disseminates misinformation regarding behaviour of Muslims in the West, & suggests we should all adapt their culture, because Western culture is depraved. He holds the culture responsible for his freedom in contempt, & in favour of an oppressive culture. He has deleted my comments on his vids that tell the truth. He refuses to acknowledge that the same people who brought in Muslim immigrants to create discord & displace Europeans, are the same ones who have subverted & perverted Western culture. He wants sharia law to fix everything, & to remove all the rights we hold precious in t...

The Nordic Models: Resilience in Changing Times Croke Park, 17th November 2011 In the run-up to Budget 2012, much of the debate is about the immediate choices facing us. To understand the Norwegian culture, we want to teach you about some Norwegian customs that can seem weird at first, but in the long run they can help you assimilate into the community. The Norwegians are great at organizing festivals and events where like-minded people get together to listen to music, eat food or do outdoor activities. Attending festivals and events around the country also allows you to explore the local nature and find new sights to see. We understand that it can be difficult to imagine what student life in Norway might look like. To help you out, we've created "A Norwegian Study Guide" based on experiences from our current international students. You might be surprised, you might be amused, but most of all we hope that you will become excited to learn more about livi...

Our honeymoon trip to North Europe, transferred at Helsinki airport, to Stockholm then head to Norway. Swedish culture is one of the most influential one in the world, it is in our daily life, from the Scandinavian designer furniture, ikea, meatball, volvo, spotify, to thepiratebay, you name it. Really love stockholm, the peoples are friendly and they all look trendy, the food is amazing and relatively affordable comparing to neighboring countries. While in Norway, it is one of a kind experience to go on a road trip to explore the lofoten island, the views are just stunning! Especially if you take a few night stay at the Rorbuer and experience the magical northern light on the starry sky. Overview of Norway's Health Care System Presentation for Elizabethtown College School of Continuing and Professional Studies
Health Care in Norway from "International Health Care Systems". All of the 5.165.802 people in Norway (2015) have access to a taxpayer-funded public healthcare system. The population has good health status with a life expectancy of almost 82 years. The health care system is partly decentralised. Four different Regional Health Authorities are responsible for the specialist care within and outside hospitals (including specialised cardiac rehabilitation), while more than 400 municipalities are responsible for the primary care. There were 77 cardiologists per million inhabitants in 2016. Norwegian costs for health care are approximately 10 % of Norway's gross domestic product (GDP), with a 16th place in the WHO European region in terms of the share of GDP spent on health in 2011. Still, Norw...

Norway is a fascinating land in the extreme north of Europe where both magic and fairytales are very much alive. It has crystal clear lakes and rivers, snow covered mountains, idyllic fishing villages and endless beaches that are only accessible by boat.Although the Norwegian metropolis of Oslo is a modern city it continues to be inspired by the lively spirit of its past traders, fighting men and seafarers. Oslo is a harbour town that lies well sheltered at the end of a fjord and in the ninth century it was much appreciated by the Vikings who travelled throughout the known world, plundering much of it! Bergen’s main tourist attraction is the Bryggen district that originated in t...
Welcome to Oslo, the capital city of Norway. Centuries ago, Viking longships prowled the waters around Norway. Some of those longships survived the ensuing years and found their way to the Viking Ship Museum, which is a must-see on any Oslo tour. The three longships on display here have been recovered from various parts of the country, and the museum also contains a number of artifacts from the Viking Age. Norway’s rich connection to the sea did not stop with the Vikings, though; just over a mile away from the Viking Ship Museum are several other educational complexes dedicated to the salt water that flows through Oslo’s veins. Visit the Norwegian Maritime Museum, the Kon-Tiki Museum, and the Fram Museum to get a fuller idea of Oslo’s seaborne heritage. While in town, stop by the Nobel...

Earlier this year, I went on this amazing trip to Iceland and Norway along with two of my friends. I have to say that it is one that we will never forget and I'm sure they share my sentiments. Right from the onset, things weren't going too well for us. We had to wear the same set of clothes for 3 days due to baggage delay. Then, we experienced the worst snow storm in years (according to our Airbnb host and a Northern Lights tour guide). Karin is a lifelong learner, interested in music, art, Scandinavian architecture, and the Italian language. Although she has traveled extensively in the Far East, South America, the United States, and Europe, Karin -- a self-described people-person -- loves passing along her knowledge of Scandinavia. Educated in Sweden, Karin graduated from the Teacher's college in Malmö and completed training with Scandinavian Airlines to be a flight attendant. She became a licensed tour guide after graduating from Roskilde University in Denmark. "Karin was professional, personable and very well informed. She went above and beyond her duties to us and we all agree that she is a gem -- we would come back just to see her again."
We were sleeping till you came along
With your diamond heart
You let us in the wooden house
To share in all the wealth
Don't you know it's true?
Norway eeeay eeeaaaay ay-ay-ay
Seven figures leap the hungry maws
The beastie comes to you
He's a hunter for a lonely heart
In the season of the sun
Don't you know it's true?
Norway eeeay eeeaaaay ay-ay-ay
Where you thinkin' that you gotta run to now
With the beating of a diamond heart?
Hang on to the things that you're supposed to say
Billions of stars that open to your fate
