An apron is an outer protective garment that covers primarily the front of the body. It may be worn for hygienic reasons as well as in order to protect clothes from wear and tear, or else due to a symbolic meaning.
The apron is commonly part of the uniform of several work categories, including waitresses, nurses, and domestic workers. Many homemakers also wear them. It is also worn as a decorative garment by women. Aprons are also worn in many commercial establishments to protect workers clothes from damage, mainly bib aprons, but also others such as blacksmith or farrier aprons.
In addition to cloth, aprons can be made from a variety of materials. Rubber aprons are commonly used by persons working with dangerous chemicals, and lead aprons are commonly worn by persons such as X-ray technicians who work near radiation. Aprons, such as those used by carpenters, may have many pockets to hold tools. Waterproof household aprons, made of oilcloth or PVC are suitable for cooking and washing dishes.
The Hundreds was originally founded in Los Angeles in 2003 by Bobby Kim and Ben Shenassafar as a men's apparel company and online magazine. Inspired by a California culture, the brand is considered a 2 part lifestyle project influenced by a variety of California's defining traits from punk to hip-hop, skateboarding to surf. Now sold worldwide, including at four of its own flagship stores in the United States, The Hundreds has expanded beyond apparel, accessories and headgear to a print magazine, a footwear collection and eyewear line.
The Hundreds encompasses multiple facets including an apparel line, an online magazine, retail stores and a print magazine. The collection is currently available in 400 accounts worldwide. In 2007, the brand expanded into retail, opening their first flagship store in Los Angeles. This Los Angeles store is located at 7909 Rosewood Ave, as the address appears on multiple items of clothing from the "Rosewood" collection. The Hundreds followed in 2008 opening San Francisco and in 2010 New York. On April 1, 2011, The Hundreds opened their fourth retail store, this one located in Santa Monica, California.

Behind the making of the The Hundreds X Hedley & Bennett Standard Apron, available at flagship locations and the Online Shop. Read our interview with Ellen Bennett here: http://thehundreds.com/blog/meet-ellen-the-woman-running-the-hedley-bennett-apron-empire/ Hedley & Bennett began in CEO Ellen Bennett's garage with $300 and an unshakeable idea—creating high-quality kitchen garments that look and feel amazing while withstanding the test of time (and the heat of the kitchen). What began as a passion project soon spread into a global brand, with Hedley & Bennett's products worn by high profile chefs like Mario Batali and Nobu Matsuhisa. From here we'll just press rewind and we'll never press play
