The University’s Careers & Employability Team offers qualified advisors who can work with you to provide tailored, individual support and careers advice during your time at the University and once you graduate.
This service includes one-to-one coaching, CV advice and interview preparation to help you maximise your future opportunities. Having achieved new knowledge and skills, you will be fully supported to fulfil your career ambitions.
The service works closely with local, national and international employers, acting as a gateway to the business world. It advertises a range of graduate positions around the country.
The Graduate Career You Want
Our careers service offers a dedicated team of qualified advisors who work closely with Schools across the University to support you in preparation for your future career.
The service works closely with regional and national employers, organising a wide range of activities and workshops throughout the year. These include job hunting workshops, employer mentoring schemes, careers fairs and employer presentations, all in addition to linking you to graduate positions.

Starting a Business
If you are interested in starting a business, we can help. Sparkhouse is our award-winning business incubation centre for graduates. Recognised as a ‘Best Practice’ incubator by UK Business Incubation, it is uniquely placed to support the development of your ideas when starting a business.
The Centre provides accommodation, business support and links to other agencies and professional services to help your business develop and succeed. The Enterprise Inc. programme operates through the Centre and provides a bursary scheme to allow students to develop their ideas in a challenging but supportive environment.

Graduate Internships
Graduate internships are an increasingly popular way of launching your career. Working as an intern in a firm for a set amount of time after graduation boosts your confidence and workplace skills, and is a great way of making valuable contacts in your chosen profession. Lincoln graduates are linked to companies who offer these opportunities and are provided with practical support on how to obtain an internship.

If you want to find part-time work or experience whilst you study, support is available from our Student Job Shop. It provides a central point on campus where you can find out about paid positions and work experience opportunities.

Undergraduate Projects and Placements
The University provides opportunities for students to work on real projects. Students and graduates are matched with specific company projects, such as developing new channels to market, innovating products or services to stimulate sales, software implementation, designing e-commerce systems or websites, business process re-engineering or market research to better inform decision-making.
Career Wednesdays
The Career Wednesdays programme runs on Wednesday afternoons throughout term time and aims to help you enhance your employability and knowledge of the labour market. The events include a combination of employer-led presentations by large graduate recruiters such as Coca Cola, Siemens and the Civil Service, as well as job search and employability workshops, industry-specific sessions and general information and advice.

Employability Mentoring Scheme
Students can join the Employability Mentoring Scheme, a project which pairs students with senior staff and professionals from leading regional companies. Students gain support and guidance via one-to-one meetings and shadow their mentor at work, allowing them to gain a real insight into their chosen sector.
Enterprise and Entrepreneurship Society
The University of Lincoln’s enterprise and entrepreneurship society runs events on a fortnightly basis throughout term time to help students and graduates learn about business and the benefits of self employment.
Led by professionals from industry, hands-on workshops give you a chance to put into practice some of the theories you are being taught. Alongside this, monthly social events offer an opportunity to network with local businesses.
