John Winston Ono Lennon, MBE (born John Winston Lennon; 9 October 1940 – 8 December 1980) was an English singer and songwriter who rose to worldwide fame as a co-founder of the band the Beatles, the most commercially successful band in the history of popular music. With fellow member Paul McCartney, he formed a celebrated songwriting partnership.
Born and raised in Liverpool, Lennon became involved in the skiffle craze as a teenager; his first band, the Quarrymen, evolved into the Beatles in 1960. When the group disbanded in 1970, Lennon embarked on a solo career that produced the critically acclaimed albums John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band and Imagine, and iconic songs such as "Give Peace a Chance", "Working Class Hero", and "Imagine". After his marriage to Yoko Ono in 1969, he changed his name to John Ono Lennon. Lennon disengaged himself from the music business in 1975 to raise his infant son Sean, but re-emerged with Ono in 1980 with the new album Double Fantasy. He was murdered three weeks after its release.

Co-written by Phil Spector,John recorded two home demos of Here We Go Again in October 1973, performed on an acoustic guitar.Later that month work began on the Rock 'N' Roll project with Phil Spector. As an original composition it was unlikely that Here We Go Again was considered for the album,so the reason for its recording remains unclear. It is possible that John was considering hiring Spector to produce the follow-up to Mind Games, but their working relationship ended during these chaotic sessions.Spector's role in the songwriting is unclear,John had the tune in place by the time the demos were recorded,so it is possible that Spectors's contribution was to assist with the final lyrics. The song was copyrighted to both men on 16 July 1975. Check out my Lennon facebook page at www.facebook...

"The Day John Lennon Died" (documentary 2010) is a look at Lennon and his death through archival footage and interviews. Someone once said to me when politicians are assassinated it's one thing, but "when they start killing the artists," it's a bad sign. John Lennon's loss was certainly devastating, and I'm not sure it could have been avoided. Perhaps it might have been delayed, though. He was a man who loved New York, loved walking down the street. He didn't have bodyguards, and he signed autographs outside of the Dakota. Part of the problem is that the security people at the Dakota apparently let people "hang out" there -- a mistake -- and another is that Lennon didn't always enter or leave the Dakota by driving directly in or out of the garage. So as the completely obsessed Mark Davi...

John Lennon sat down at the Tomorrow Show and gave his last interview ever.
From The Old Grey Whistle Test, April 18, 1975.
On the occasion of his 75th birthday, we dug up some rare John Lennon archival footage. The black and white 16mm spans an interview from the 1966 Beatles US Tour, Lennon's 1969 trip to India with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, and the famous bed-in that he and Yoko Ono held on their honeymoon in Amsterdam in 1969. ↓ Read the MESSAGE FROM YOKO ONO ↓ Dear Friends, In 1969, John and I were so naïve to think that doing the Bed-In would help change the world. Well, it might have. But at the time, we didn't know. It was good that we filmed it, though. The film is powerful now. What we said then could have been said now. In fact, there are things that we said then in the film, which may give some encouragement and inspiration to the activists of today. Good luck to us all. Let's remember WAR IS OVER If We Want It. It's up to us, and nobody else. John would have wanted to say that. "The Tomorrow Show: John Lennon" Filmed: 25-04-1975 Length: 1 hour 06 minutes 11 seconds iMDB: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0158435/ One of the few TV interviews John Lennon ever granted was to "The Tomorrow Show" with Tom Snyder, of historical signifigance due to Lennon's legendary contribution to the music of this generation. The Tomorrow Show With Tom Snyder was one of the hippest, most-interesting late-night talk shows around, during its 70s and early- 80s run. The Tomorrow Show With Tom Snyder: John, Paul, Tom & Ringo brings together captivating interviews with John Lennon, Paul McCartney, and Ringo Starr.
Claymation of John Lennon's famous interview with Jann Wenner of Rolling Stone in 1970. John talks honestly about the break up of the Beatles.
In 1969, a 14-year-old Beatle fanatic named Jerry Levitan, armed with a reel-to-reel tape deck, snuck into John Lennon’s hotel room in Toronto and convinced John to do an interview. Fastforward to present day and using the original interview recording as the soundtrack, director Josh Raskin has woven a visual narrative which tenderly romances Lennon’s every word. Raskin marries traditional pen sketches by James Braithwaite. James Braithwaite is an illustrator, animator, and director based out of Montreal Canada. James’s first animation, “I Met the Walrus” won best short animation from the American Film Institute, and was nominated for an Academy Award in 2008. The film has since been nominated for an Emmy, and has won two awards at the Banff Television Awards.

Elliot Mintz first came to national attention for his close ties to John Lennon and Yoko Ono throughout the 1970s and for his continued presence as a media consultant for Yoko following John’s murder. But before that, he was a college student who broke big news about Lee Harvey Oswald the day of the JFK assassination and went on to a storied career as a broadcast journalist and celebrity media consultant. Key moments: • 7:13 November 22, 1963, watching news reports of the Kennedy assassination when a Los Angeles County College classmate recognizes Lee Harvey Oswald, with whom he served in the Marines; • 16:33 Interviewing Salvador Dali (accompanied by John Lennon, Yoko Ono, and Gala Dali); • 42:43 Hearing of the assassination of his close friend, John Lennon, en route to The Dakota Bui...
