Max Walker, 1948-2016

Max Walker (1948-2016) played Australian Rules for the Melbourne Football Club from 1967 to 1973 while also playing cricket for Victoria and studying architecture at RMIT. In 1973, he made his Test Cricket debut for Australia and went on to play a total of 34 Tests and 29 One Day Internationals. With a strange bowling action, Walker earned the nickname of Tanglefoot or Tangles.

Max Walker wrote 14 books about cricket, his life and his career. He was a highly successful radio commentator and a figure of Australian television. He appeared weekly on Channel 7s Wide World of Sport, was a sports reader for the National Nine News, and was a host of The Sunday Footy Show in Melbourne. In 2011, he was named a Member of the Order of Australia for his services to cricket, cricket commentary and the community.
