La Rambla can refer to:
Chris Omprakash Sharma (born April 23, 1981) is an American rock climber. In 2007, NPR wrote that Sharma had been described as the world's best rock climber.
Sharma was born and raised in Santa Cruz, California, the son of Gita Jahn and Bob Sharma. He started rock climbing when he was 12 at the Pacific Edge climbing gym. Sharma went to Mount Madonna school and attended Soquel High School for one year.
At age 14, Sharma won the Bouldering Nationals ∞. A year later, he completed the first ascent of Necessary Evil 5.14c (8c+) in the Virgin River Gorge, the highest-rated climb in North America at the time.
Sharma then moved to Bishop, California, where he climbed The Mandala, a boulder problem graded V12.
In July 2001, Sharma completed the extension of the established route Biographie in Ceüse, located in the Hautes-Alpes Department of France and renamed it Realization, ignoring the French tradition that equippers and not climbers name routes. At the time of the first ascent, Biographie was widely considered to be the first consensus 5.15a (9a+) in the world. He has since established or completed many routes at or above 5.15 (9a+), including La Rambla and Es Pontas (a deep water soloing project in Mallorca). In 2008 Sharma climbed the 250-foot line (76 m), Jumbo Love, at Clark Mountain in California, claiming 5.15b (9b) for the grade.
Port Vell (Catalan pronunciation: [ˈpɔrd ˈbeʎ], literally in English 'Old Harbor') is a waterfront harbor in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain, and part of the Port of Barcelona. It was built as part of an urban renewal program prior to the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Before this, it was a run-down area of empty warehouses, railroad yards, and factories. 16 million people visit the complex each year.
It is now a focal point of the city and tourist attraction, containing the Maremàgnum (a mall containing shops, a multiplex cinema, bars and restaurants), IMAX Port Vell and Europe's largest aquarium containing 8000 Fish and 11 sharks contained in 22 basins filled with 6 million litres (1.5 million gallons) of sea water. A pedestrian walkway, Rambla de Mar, connects La Rambla to Port Vell. It incorporates a swing bridge, in order to allow ships to enter and exit the harbour.
Around the 4th century BC Barcelona was occupied by the Laietani. A tribe of Iberian people who inhabited the coastline between the Llobregat and Tordera rivers. Barkeno, on Montjuïc, was their main settlement. These people traded with the Greek colony in Empúries, building large grain stores for the purpose.

Chris Sharma climbed with Dave Graham, Dani Andrada and Yuji Hirayama and Edu Marin, who did the second ascent of the route, one day before Chris !! Chris Sharma redpointed the route after less than 20 tries... A film by Laurent Triay. En Décembre 2006, Chris Sharma a fait la troisième ascension de 'La Rambla'. Don't miss out those spots! La Rambla (Catalan pronunciation:"Las Ramblas") is a street in central Barcelona, popular with both tourists and locals alike. A tree-lined pedestrian mall, it stretches for 1.2 kilometers between Barri Gòtic and El Raval, connecting Plaça de Catalunya in the centre with the Christopher Columbus Monument at Port Vell. La Rambla can be considered a series of shorter streets, each differently named, hence the plural form Les Rambles (the original Catalan form; in Spanish it is Las Ramblas). From the Plaça de Catalunya toward the harbour, the street is successively called the Rambla de Canaletes, the Rambla dels Estudis, the Rambla de Sant Josep, the Rambla dels Caputxins, and the Rambla de Santa Mònica. Construction of the Maremàgnum in the early 1990s resulted i...
16-year-old French phenom Enzo Oddo has climbed yet another 5.15 with his repeat of La Rambla original in Siurana, Spain. The route was first climbed before Oddo was even born by Alex Huber to a stopping point 3/4 up the wall, and it was subsequently extended by Ramón Julián Puigblanque. The accepted grade for this route these days seems to be 5.15a, but Rock and Ice has a good recap of this history of the route including Huber's thoughts on how the grade of this route and many others has been inflated over the years: "It's a fact that La Rambla increased in grade from 8c+ (5.14c) to 9a+ (5.15a). Often people believe this is due to the route extension, but in reality the difficulties do not change substantially with this extension."

A recording of a freelance artist, creating a piece I had asked when I was in Barcelona so I could take it home with me. After seeing one of my mates get one, I was convinced to get my own. I would like to point out that it is not me that is creating the artwork, I am the person recording it.

I just wanna rock it for the best
See, in the aftermath of the lantern light
There was the lighted laughter
After he had ignited
The night life came to a stand-still
Till dawn
Still-life captured in my quills
Still quivering hands
Holding my pen
And holding man
Did become one with the unfolding Zen
And then and there I'm cold
And don't know how to sell my shares
In marionettes made from gold
Who wants to be a puppet?
Raise your hand
Drop your head
And grab a bucket
Cash the liquid tears and cop a couple of droplets
Fuck it
Where's the water when I want a drink?
Where's the slaughter when I'm on the brink?
I want to think about leaving heaven for the very first time
Never felt the same way when decay disbursed this line
And time is no longer an object of my desires
I want to live in between the lines
I want to give in and live in a shrine
Promote the art of peace and feel increasingly genuine
Our loving can taste the ocean
It makes an awful good tapestry
The soothing motion for my mind's apathy
Happily changing time zones and subject matter
The latter meaning a decrease in chatter
And more patterns
And more live drums
And more new friends
More dependant on myself for more mental growth
But it depends
On more genital gropes
How good I'm feeling
More importantly is how I'm dealing
With the people I'm meeting
Hearts I'm stealing
Kiss kiss my sweet biscuit
I'm basking in the insecurity of your slit wrist
Lying listless
Not even on the guest list
Not a member of the most pious
Post fliers
Kids my age still on stage
Will never mean it all
Full of rage
Crafted in a cage called high school
Foolishly accepted my foolish roll
Roving along the hallways
Strolling past the Key-master
Whose locks I'm holding
Halfway to Hell in a basement
Taking shop
Pacing myself or else
Have to stop
Slow down
It's the middle of the night
And might we get a little light
Put your hands up for insight
Ahhhh
Throw your hands up for insight
Uhhhh
Throw your hands up for insight
Lights out
Handcuffed and stuffed in a closet
Fight and shout
And drag them all the way home screaming
"Insight
Insight
I got to try to get it
Insight
In flight
Overwhelm me
I won't let it."
Please everyone
Seek to be smart at least once a week
If you can spare the time
It bears doing to your brewing mind
Beaten black and blue and blind
Boast of that in most situations
You and I close hugging
Telling secrets
Want to keep it
Mind over matter
And those who don't believe in peace
Will have their
Knees shattered
Ask me
"To where the trees scattered?"
It's not like it really mattered
Cause feet splattered
Muddy chunks on the walls of concrete jungle
With asphalt floors
And doors that stay locked
And humble men living in fear
Guns cocked
Tears running
Crops grow of sadness
Seeded in the springtime
Sowing a harvest full of madness
Uh huh Uh huh
When I yell "Insight"
You say "Psychosis"
Insight!
Psychosis!
Insight!
Psychosis!
When I yell "Kiss me"
And you start to kiss me
I'll feel it then I'll flow it
It's raining
It's pissing
A glistening liquid
That's my brain and
If you're straining to wipe your face
Craning your neck to check your game
It's not the same no more
That's for sure
I'm shocked at the skills exhibited
As a derivative
Of uninhibited
Uninhabited
Avid
Given at Scribble Jam
I saw art walk
It's living culture
Locked mind
A one-way door
And you're trapped inside my vision
Art could and should be without
Inhibition
To those who inspired my enlightened condition
I was thinking of you just now
