Persis

Persis (from Greek Περσίς, in turn ultimately from Old Persian Parsa, and later als known as: Persia, Pars, Fars) was originally a name of a region near the Zagros mountains at Lake Urmia. The country name Persia was derived directly from the Old Persian Parsa. Over time, the area of settlement shifted to the southwest of today Iran (now Fars).

The ancient Persians were present in the region from about the 10th century BC, and became the rulers of the largest empire the world had yet seen under the Achaemenid dynasty which was established in the late 6th century BC, at its peak stretching from Thrace-Macedonia, Bulgaria-Paeonia and Eastern Europe proper in the west, to the Indus Valley in its far east. The ruins of Persepolis and Pasargadae, two of the four capitals of the Achaemenid Empire, are located in Fars.

The Achaemenid Empire was defeated by Alexander the Great in 333 BC, incorporating most of their vast empire. Shortly after this the Seleucid Empire was established. However it never extended its power beyond the main trade routes in Fars, and by the reign of Antiochus I or possibly later Persis emerged as an independent state that minted its own coins.

Persis Solo

Persatuan Sepak Bola Indonesia Surakarta, commonly known as Persis Solo, is a football club based in Surakarta (also known as Solo), Central Java in Indonesia. Persis Solo was a football club that was founded 8 November 1923 in Surakarta, Central Java, Indonesia by Sastrosaksono. Inception indirectly using the name Persis Solo, but still named Vorstenlandschen Voetbal Bond (VVB), a kind of association football. And in 1928, Vorstenlandsche Voetbal Bond officially renamed Persis Solo.

Just have won 7 times. In the season 2006/2007 to be the pinnacle of achievement for Just because it's in season Exactly escaped promotion to the highest caste league level i.e. Indonesian First Division. The achievement was not accompanied by a Division 1 League title since losing to Persebaya Exactly in the final match held at Brawijaya Stadium, Kediri.

History

Inception was named Vorstenlandsche Voetbal Bond (VVB), which is a kind of association football in the city of Solo. VVB is a world pioneer in Indonesian football. World pioneers called football because VVB founded before football clubs in Indonesia, even before the PSSI or the Football Association of Indonesia . VVB was founded on 8 November 1923 by Sastrosaksono from Mars FC and R. Ng. Reksodiprojo and Sutarman from Romeo FC. By Soemokartiko, in 1928 the name of Persis Solo or Solo Indonesian Football Association official used to replace the name Vorstenlandsche Voetbal Bond (VVB).

PSIS Semarang

PSIS (Persatuan Sepakbola Indonesia Semarang) is an Indonesian soccer team based in Semarang, Central Java. The team's homebase is at Jatidiri Stadium in Semarang. They compete in the Liga Indonesia Premier Division.

Founded in 1932, PSIS is one of the oldest soccer teams in Indonesia. It was previously known as Voetbalbond Indonesia Semarang.

First title victory

Before the professional league was held in 1994/1995, PSIS joined Perserikatan, an amateur football competition organized by PSSI. Their greatest success was in the 1986/87 season when PSIS won the title after defeating Persebaya Surabaya in the final 1–0 by Syaiful Amri's Goal. At the time, PSIS legend Ribut Waidid was in the team. There is now a sculpture of Ribut Waidi in the center of Semarang city.

Ligina (Liga Indonesia) Era

In 1994, when Perserikatan and Galatama merged to form Liga Indonesia, PSIS was placed in the Premier division. In the 1998/1999 season, PSIS attained their highest achievement by winning the probey. In the final, PSIS defeated Persebaya Surabaya with score 1–0 in a Final match which was held at Manado. The goal was scored by Tugiyo, who was renowned as "Maradona from Purwodadi", in the injury time of the second half. But after that excellent performance, PSIS did not do well in the transfer window. Consequently, PSIS were ironically relegated in 1999/2000 season. A year later, PSIS managed to secure a promotion ticket back again to the Premier division.
