A man was in a critical condition after being stabbed in the abdomen in Melbourne's north on Saturday.
Paramedics and police were called to Oak Street, Preston, shortly after 4pm.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman said emergency services attended an address following reports that a man had been stabbed.
"They found a man in his 30s with a stab wound to his stomach," she said.
"He has been transported to hospital suffering serious injuries.
"A woman in her 40s was arrested at the scene and is assisting police with their inquiries."
The man remains in the Royal Melbourne Hospital where his condition has improved to stable.
