Waze & Odyssey

Waze & Odyssey are producers & DJs consisting of Serge Santiago and Firas Waez. Coming together in Autumn of 2011, the duo came to prominence after releasing on labels such as Wolf Music, Lets Play House, Tsuba and Throne of Blood. Waze & Odyssey have also crafted a reputation for their music taste, heading up their own record label W&O Street Tracks that has seen releases from the likes of Kill Frenzy, Lancelot, XXXY, Eliphino, Citizenn & Ejeca. The label has received plaudits from the likes of XL Recordings & Feel My Bicep Blog

In 2014, Waze & Odyssey had a top 3 hit in the UK in 2014 with a remix of R. Kelly's Bump n' Grind.

As DJs

Waze & Odyssey have toured extensively across Europe, USA and Asia. They have played many of the worlds biggest and most influential clubs such as Panorama Bar (Berghain), Fabric, The Warehouse Project, Amnesia and at festivals including Glastonbury, EXIT Festival, Bestival, and Secret Garden Party.

Odyssey

The Odyssey (/ˈɒdəsi/;Greek: Ὀδύσσεια Odýsseia, pronounced [o.dýs.sej.ja] in Classical Attic) is one of two major ancient Greek epic poems attributed to Homer. It is, in part, a sequel to the Iliad, the other work ascribed to Homer. The poem is fundamental to the modern Western canon, and is the second oldest extant work of Western literature, the Iliad being the oldest. Scholars believe it was composed near the end of the 8th century BC, somewhere in Ionia, the Greek coastal region of Anatolia.

The poem mainly focuses on the Greek hero Odysseus (known as Ulysses in Roman myths) and his journey home after the fall of Troy. It takes Odysseus ten years to reach Ithaca after the ten-year Trojan War. In his absence, it is assumed he has died, and his wife Penelope and son Telemachus must deal with a group of unruly suitors, the Mnesteres (Greek: Μνηστῆρες) or Proci, who compete for Penelope's hand in marriage.

It continues to be read in the Homeric Greek and translated into modern languages around the world. Many scholars believe that the original poem was composed in an oral tradition by an aoidos (epic poet/singer), perhaps a rhapsode (professional performer), and was more likely intended to be heard than read. The details of the ancient oral performance, and the story's conversion to a written work inspire continual debate among scholars. The Odyssey was written in a poetic dialect of Greek—a literary amalgam of Aeolic Greek, Ionic Greek, and other Ancient Greek dialects—and comprises 12,110 lines of dactylic hexameter. Among the most noteworthy elements of the text are its non-linear plot, and the influence on events of choices made by women and serfs, besides the actions of fighting men. In the English language as well as many others, the word odyssey has come to refer to an epic voyage.

Damon Martin

Damon Martin is an American film producer, having served as executive producer on a dozen films since 2004. He is also the former president and founder of Departure Studios, which has performed post-production audio services for approximately fifty independent feature films since the company's inception before being acquired by Black Satellite Records owner Ian Colhoun and renamed Black Satellite Sound Post.

In 2007, Damon while still owner of Departure Studios, partnered with film financier Michael Roban CEO of Cold Fusion Media Group. Cold Fusion Media Group provides financing for independent films in the form of finishing funds, tax credits and rebates, and mezzanine lending to qualified motion picture productions. Damon has left the company as of June 2009 to pursue other interests and is no longer affiliated with the company.

Damon also has a history of success in the music industry. He was the bassist for the band Naked (circa 1997), and co-wrote the Billboard Top Ten rock track "Mann's Chinese" as well as Gavin winner Top 40 Song of the Year "Raining on the Sky." Damon also produced the Latin Jazz record "Black Orchid" with legendary bassist Al McKibbon.

Disco Bloodbath

Disco Bloodbath: A Fabulous but True Tale of Murder in Clubland is a 1999 memoir written by James St. James about his life as a Manhattan celebutante and club kid. The book specifically chronicles his friend Michael Alig's rise to fame and his subsequent murder of fellow club kid and drug dealer Angel Melendez. St. James was Alig's mentor in the scene and was familiar with many of its key figures. The memoir was later renamed Party Monster after the motion picture of that name starring Macaulay Culkin, Seth Green, Chloë Sevigny and Marilyn Manson.

Disco Bloodbath has since gone out of print and often goes for several hundred dollars in auctions. It was only printed 3 times, in 1999, twice in paperback with different coloured jackets, and once in hardcover. It was re-printed in 2003 under the title Party Monster - The Fabulous but True Tale of Murder in Clubland (ISBN 0-684-85764-2); paperbacks are widely available.

Characters

Michael Alig

Michael Alig was a member of the notorious Club Kids, a group of young clubgoers led by Alig in the late 1980s and early 1990s. In 1996 Alig was convicted of the murder of Andre "Angel" Melendez in a confrontation over a drug debt.

That Ain't Right (song)

"That Ain't Right" is the 1942 debut single by The King Cole Trio. That Ain't Right" hit number one on Billboard magazine's Harlem Hit Parade chart for one week. Although the song was the King Cole Trio's first successful record, it would be their only release for Decca, as the contract with the company expired before "That Ain't Right" became a hit.
