George Regas (November 9, 1890 – December 13, 1940) was a Greek-born American actor.
Born in Sparta, Greece, he was the brother of actor Pedro Regas. He was a stage actor in Athens before coming to the U.S. In New York he played Romeo in a Grecian version of Romeo and Juliet.
In 1921 Regas acted in his first motion picture: The Love Light with Mary Pickford. This film was produced by Pickford's production company. He would go on to create character roles in over one hundred films. His rugged looks and Mediterranean complexion allowed him to play a wide variety of nationalities in action and adventure films. He was married to actress Reine Davies, the sister of Marion Davies. Starred as Mateo in The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (1939).
Regas died after an operation for a throat infection on December 13, 1940 in Hollywood, California, at age fifty. His last film role was Sergeant Gonzales in The Mark of Zorro. He is entombed at Hollywood Forever Cemetery alongside his brother.
Juan Leonardo Santillia Rojas (born 1984) is a panflutist from Ecuador who won the fifth season of the television show Das Supertalent, the German version of Britain's Got Talent.
Rojas came from his home country to Spain in 2000 while his family remained in Ecuador. From there, he went to Germany with a tourist visa again and again. He lives with his Polish wife in Berlin, where he makes money as a street performer. A passerby alerted him to the talent show Das Supertalent. He applied for the fifth season in 2011 and was able to qualify for the final rounds. With an interpretation of El Cóndor Pasa with the Panflute and other South American wind instruments, he came through the semi-finals. There transpired a reunion of the musician with his mother from Ecuador, making for an emotional performance. At the finals on 17 December 2011, Rojas played the instrumental track "The Lonely Shepherd", written by James Last that became a hit in 1977 when performed by Last and Gheorghe Zamfir. The South American won the competition with a distinct lead.

Luis Rivas, our second George Regas intern reaches out to all ICUJP supporters and asks us all to support ICUJP, its work and specifically its internship program. Luis was able to graduate from California State University of Northridge largely in part because of the paid internship offered by ICUJP to young people who are looking to make a difference in their community and organize with interfaith activists and to build relationships with various faith traditions. Help spread this video and message. Help ICUJP maintain its internship and its mission of telling religious communities to stop blessing war and violence!
