Sinéad

Sinéad (/ʃᵻˈneɪd/ shi-NADE; Irish pronunciation: [ˈʃɪnʲeːd̪ˠ] or [ʃɪˈnʲeːd̪ˠ]), is an Irish feminine name. It is derived from the French Jeanette, which is cognate to the English Janet, itself a feminine form of the Hebrew Yohannan, "God forgave/God gratified". Sinéad is also commonly spelled Sinead. The name "Sinéad" is generally translated into English as either "Jane" or "Jennifer", or as the female version of the Scottish name "Jean".

Sinead Harnett

Sinead Harnett (born 12 October 1989) is a British singer and songwriter from Finchley, London.

Career

Born to a Thai mother and an Irish father, Harnett grew up Finchley, north London. She attended the Arts University College Bournemouth, where she studied for a degree in acting and appeared in student productions of plays such as One Thousand and One Nights.

Harnett gained prominence as a singer in 2011 when, following an open request to his Twitter followers for suggestions and applicants, grime artist Wiley selected Harnett to feature on the single "Walk Away" from his album Chill Out Zone. In 2012, she was featured on the Disclosure track "Boiling" from their EP The Face. She released her debut single, "Got Me", in 2013 via Black Butter Records, and contributed songwriting and guest vocals to Rudimental's debut album, Home. She was also featured on Ryan Hemsworth's solo album Guilt Trips, on the opening track "Small + Lost", and provided uncredited vocals for Kidnap Kid's single "So Close".

Turn It Up (Pixie Lott album)

Turn It Up is the debut studio album by English recording artist Pixie Lott, released on 11 September 2009 by Mercury Records. The album's first two singles, "Mama Do (Uh Oh, Uh Oh)" and "Boys and Girls", both topped the UK Singles Chart, while subsequent singles "Cry Me Out", "Gravity" and "Turn It Up" all reached the top twenty. Turn It Up peaked at number six on the UK Albums Chart and was certified double platinum by the British Phonographic Industry, with sales of 855,805 copies in the United Kingdom.

The album was re-released as Turn It Up Louder on 18 October 2010. It was preceded by the release of "Broken Arrow" as its lead single, and includes nine other bonus songs. In 2010, it was reported that Interscope Records was planning to release Turn It Up in the United States with new songs in early 2011, which never materialised.

Singles

"Mama Do (Uh Oh, Uh Oh)" was released on 3 June 2009 as the album's lead single. It debuted at number one on the UK Singles Chart, making Lott the first British female solo artist to have a debut single enter atop the chart without previously appearing on a reality television show.

Sinéad O'Connor

Sinéad Marie Bernadette O’Connor (/ʃɪˈneɪd oʊˈkɒnər/; born 8 December 1966) is an Irish singer-songwriter who rose to fame in the late 1980s with her debut album The Lion and the Cobra. O’Connor achieved worldwide success in 1990 with a new arrangement of Prince’s song "Nothing Compares 2 U".

Since then, while maintaining her singing career, she has occasionally encountered controversy, partly due to her statements and gestures—such as her ordination as a priest despite being a woman with a Roman Catholic background—and her strongly expressed views on organised religion, women's rights, war, and child abuse.

In addition to her ten solo albums her work includes many singles, songs for films, collaborations with many other artists and appearances at charity fundraising concerts.

Early life

O'Connor was born in Glenageary in County Dublin and was named after Sinéad de Valera, wife of Irish President Éamon de Valera and mother of the doctor presiding over the delivery, and Saint Bernadette of Lourdes. She is the third of five children, sister to novelist Joseph, Eimear, John, and Eoin.

Within Temptation

Within Temptation is a Dutch symphonic metal band founded in 1995 by vocalist Sharon den Adel and guitarist Robert Westerholt. They have always been classified by critics as gothic metal or rock, although the "gothic" influence varies with each album. Their most prominent and well-known sound is described as symphonic metal, although their earlier material, such as debut album Enter, was mostly gothic metal.Enter even had a hint of doom metal. In an interview, Den Adel said they fell into a symphonic rock genre with various influences. In a later interview with Dutch music platform 3VOOR12, den Adel stated that "we consider ourselves more a symphonic rock band ... in my opinion, we are no gothic band".

After the release of their debut album Enter in 1997, the band became prominent in the Dutch underground scene. It was not until 2001 that they became known to the general public, with the single "Ice Queen" from their second album Mother Earth, which reached No. 2 on the Dutch charts. This was followed by the band winning the Conamus Exportprijs, a Dutch music award, four years in a row. Their next albums The Silent Force (2004) and The Heart of Everything (2007) debuted at No. 1 on the Dutch charts. In 2008, they released a live DVD and CD, Black Symphony, recorded with the Metropole Orchestra. This was followed in 2009 by An Acoustic Night at the Theatre, another live album.
