Taarak Mehta

Taarak Mehta is an Indian columnist, humorist, writer and playwright who is best known for the column Duniya Na Undha Chasma in the Gujarati language. He has translated and adapted several comedies into Gujarati, and has been well-known figure in the Gujarati theatre.

The humorous weekly column first appeared in Chitralekha in March 1971 and ever since has been looking at contemporary issues from a different perspective. He has published 80 books, over the years, three books are based on the columns he wrote in Gujarati newspaper, Divya Bhaskar while rest were compiled from the stories in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah.

In 2008 SAB TV, a popular entertainment channel in India, started a show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah that is based on his column, and soon it became the flagship show of the channel.

Personal life

Taarak Mehta comes from a Jain family. He lives in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, where he moved in 2000, with his second wife, Indu, of over 30 years. His first wife, Ila who later married Manohar Doshi, (died 2006), also stayed in the same apartment building. He has daughter from his first marriage, Ishani, who stays in US, and has two children, Kushaan and Shailee.

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is an Indian sitcom produced by Neela Tele Films Private Limited. The show went on-air on 28 July 2008 and is aired on weekdays evenings on SAB TV. Then this show started its re-run on Sony Pal from 2 November 2015 at 8 pm everyday.The show is based on the column Duniya Ne Oondha Chashma written by columnist and journalist Taarak Mehta for the Gujarati weekly magazine Chitralekha.

Plot Summary

Gokuldham Society is a residential Society of Mumbai in which six Indian families, respectively headed by Jethalal Champaklal Gada, Taarak Mehta, Aatmaram Tukaram Bhide, Dr. Hansraj Hathi, Sardar Roshan Singh Harjeet Singh Sodhi and Krishnan Subramaniam Iyer live. There are also other individual characters like Patrakar poptalal Pandey, Sundarlal, Abdul, Pinku, Natwarlal Prabhashankar Udhaiwala, Bagheshwar Dadukh Udhaiwala and others.The members of these families have keen psychological attachment of love and sympathy for one another that makes them the members of a suppositious greater family. In the episodes of the show, the families are shown to live a life that a typical Indian family lives, but the characters, more often than not Jethalal, get into petty troubles cropping up from daily life activities that intensify in a comical manner, giving rise to laughter among the viewers. Humour in the show is further heightened by the individual quirks of the characters. Whatever be the nature of the problem that a member of the Society encounters, all the other members stand by them through thick and thin to extend every possible help. In an episode, the cessation of the problem that a character faces is usually followed by a moral commentary by Taarak Mehta meant for all the characters of the show as well as the viewers.

Storm of Love

Sturm der Liebe (pronounced [stuːrm ˈliːbə], lit. "Storm of Love") is a German television soap opera created by Bea Schmidt for Das Erste. It premiered on 26 September 2005.

It follows in several interwoven plot threads stories about relationships taking place in the fictional five-star hotel Fürstenhof, located in Feldkirchen-Westerham near Rosenheim. The plot revolves around members of the family room area, the hotel owners, and employees.

The series began production on 1 August 2005 and was originally broadcast beginning 26 September 2005 on weekdays at 15:10.

In France, the series was broadcast from episode 1392 (season 7) since 2 April 2013 on France 2 with the name of "Le Tourbillon de l'Amour" and in Austria, the series was broadcast from episode 166 onwards since mid-July 2006 on ORF 2. A summary of episodes 1 to 165 was broadcast as a pilot.

Storm of Love has been licensed to 20 stations worldwide, and rights to all episodes were given to STV (Slovakia), LTV1 (Latvia), TV 3 (Lithuania), TV3 (Estonia) and Rete 4 (Italy). Rete 4 broadcasts the series under the name Tempesta d'amore. Nova TV in Bulgaria has broadcast the series since the end of July 2009 under a title translating as "Winds of Love." Vitaya in Belgium broadcasts under the title Sturm der liebe. Polish channel TV Puls broadcasts it under the title Burza uczuć, Finnish channel Sub under the title Lemmen viemää, and Icelandic channel RÚV under the title Ástareldur (Fire of Love).
