The Ascension of Jesus (anglicized from the Vulgate Latin Acts 1:9-11 section title: Ascensio Iesu) is the Christian teaching found in the New Testament that the resurrected Jesus was taken up to Heaven in his resurrected body, in the presence of eleven of his apostles, occurring 40 days after the resurrection. In the biblical narrative, an angel tells the watching disciples that Jesus' second coming will take place in the same manner as his ascension.
The canonical gospels include two brief descriptions of the ascension of Jesus in Luke 24:50-53 and Mark 16:19. A more detailed account of Jesus' bodily Ascension into the clouds is then given in the Acts of the Apostles (1:9-11).
The ascension of Jesus is professed in the Nicene Creed and in the Apostles' Creed. The ascension implies Jesus' humanity being taken into Heaven. The Feast of the Ascension, celebrated on the 40th day of Easter (always a Thursday), is one of the chief feasts of the Christian year. The feast dates back at least to the later 4th century, as is widely attested. The ascension is one of the five major milestones in the gospel narrative of the life of Jesus, the others being baptism, transfiguration, crucifixion, and resurrection.
Jesus (/ˈdʒiːzəs/; Greek: Ἰησοῦς Iesous; 7–2 BC to AD 30–33), also referred to as Jesus of Nazareth or Jesus Christ, is the central figure of Christianity, whom the teachings of most Christian denominations hold to be the Son of God. Christians believe Jesus is the awaited Messiah (or Christ, the Anointed One) of the Old Testament.
Virtually all modern scholars of antiquity agree that Jesus existed historically, and historians consider the Synoptic Gospels (Matthew, Mark and Luke) to be the best sources for investigating the historical Jesus. Most scholars agree that Jesus was a Galilean, Jewish rabbi who preached his message orally, was baptized by John the Baptist, and was crucified by the order of the Roman Prefect Pontius Pilate. In the current mainstream view, Jesus was an apocalyptic preacher and the founder of a renewal movement within Judaism, although some prominent scholars argue that he was not apocalyptic. After Jesus' death, his followers believed he was resurrected, and the community they formed eventually became the Christian church. The widely used calendar era, abbreviated as "AD" from the Latin "Anno Domini" ("in the year of our Lord") or sometimes as "CE", is based on the birth of Jesus. His birth is celebrated annually on December 25 as a holiday known as Christmas.
Ascension may refer to:
Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost is a term found in English translations of the Bible that is understood differently among the Abrahamic religions.
The Hebrew language phrase ruach ha-kodesh (Hebrew: רוח הקודש, "holy spirit" also transliterated ruaḥ ha-qodesh) is a term used in the Hebrew Bible (Tanakh) and Jewish writings to refer to the spirit of YHWH (רוח יהוה). It literally means "spirit of the holiness" or "spirit of the holy place". The Hebrew terms ruaḥ qodshəka, "thy holy spirit" (רוּחַ קָדְשְׁךָ), and ruaḥ qodshō, "his holy spirit" (רוּחַ קָדְשׁ֑וֹ) also occur (when a possessive suffix is added the definite article is dropped).
The "Holy Spirit" in Judaism generally refers to the divine aspect of prophecy and wisdom. It also refers to the divine force, quality, and influence of the Most High God, over the universe or over his creatures, in given contexts.
A.D. The Bible Continues is a television miniseries, based on the Bible, and a sequel to the 2013 miniseries, The Bible. It is produced by Roma Downey, Mark Burnett, and Richard Bedser. The limited series began airing on NBC on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2015, in twelve weekly one-hour episodes. The story takes place immediately after the events of The Bible miniseries, beginning with the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus, and continues with the first ten chapters of the Acts of the Apostles. On July 3, 2015, NBC cancelled A.D. The Bible Continues after one season. However, producers Burnett and Downey plan future biblical productions on their OTT digital channel.

Pastor Josh talks about The Ascension. The Ascension signaled the end of his earthly ministry. It signified success in His earthly work. All that he had come to do, he had accomplished. It marked the heavenly return of his glory. It allowed him to prepare a place for us. After Jesus rose from the dead, he presented himself alive to the women near the tomb, to his disciples, and to more than 500 others. In the days following his ressurrection, Jesus taught his disciples about the kingdom of God.

Forty days after Jesus’ resurrection, the Christian community commemorates “Ascension Day”, as the day Jesus Christ physically rose into Heaven. On Thursday 5th May 2016, we were honoured to share and celebrate this significant event in the Christian Calendar with the Most Rev. Bishop Terence J Brady DD VG, Auxiliary Bishop of Sydney, as he officially opened and blessed “The Ascension of Jesus Christ Mausoleum” at Eastern Suburbs Memorial Park, Matraville. The Mausoleum’s design celebrates the resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ. It tells of the journey from death to life, from earth to sky, from darkness to light. It has symbols of rising to new life and Hope provided through God.
http://www.gty.org/resources/sermons/80-411 Of course the pinnacle of our expression of gratitude and worship is to come to the Lord's table which we will do in just a few moments. But in preparation for that, I want to draw your attention to a couple of passages in the Scripture. One of them comes at the very end of the gospel of Mark, the very last little paragraph in Mark's gospel marks a very, very significant event in the life of our Lord. And I want to look at that event as a heart and mind preparation for partaking in the communion together....
http://www.gty.org/resources/sermons/42-298 Well, this is a special Lord's day in the sense of our text of Luke because we have finally come to the final paragraph in Luke's gospel, and we close out this great history with many wonderful memories of what we have learned in these ten years in Luke, many wonderful benefits spiritually to these great truths, this great account of Christ. Let's look together at the final paragraph, verses 50 to 53. Before I read them to you, just simply to make a comment. This is the brief account of the ascension of Christ into heaven, having completed His earthly journey and His earthly work. It is a significant event, maybe, in some ways, far more significant than most people give it credit for. In our culture we have a tradition of honoring the birth of ...
