G'day, G'day: Turning Aussie - The Tale of Two Expats

Bruce and Fran, two new immigrants, throw themselves headlong into Melburnian life and document their adventures in a blog that also contains essential information for anyone thinking of coming to Australia or already living in Oz as an expat.

As well as their tips or warnings on house-hunting, immigration and so on, there are links to other useful sites, with more being added all the time.

And, through their exploits - good and bad, Bruce and Fran hope to provide some useful advice and observations on Aussies and Australians. From getting through customs in one piece to understanding the world of Aussie Rules, from getting lost in Melbourne's hidden laneways to falling in love with the crazies on the city's trams, Bruce and Fran plan to try it all, no matter how often things go wrong.

As the site expands, bruceandfran.wordpress.com will be seeking stories from other expats and immigrants living in Australia. Many will have shared experiences or empathise with what we have done, but everyone's experience is also different. Bruce and Fran are a young couple who arrived with no jobs, little money and nowhere to live, but permanent residency and a load of enthusiasm, but there are thousands who have come alone or with families or sponsored by work who can all add their own tales of Turning Aussie to the mix in the hope of helping others making the move.
