Wild Camping In Storm conditions upto 80mph winds on Great Mell Fell in the Lake District Cumbria England In my Hilleberg Akto with my mate Paul whom I went with to test his Vango Hurricane which turn out it bent and broke poles and torn the flysheet before we even got it lifted off the ground maybe a strong tent once up but too many flimsy poles to mess with in strong winds.

We were on the Independence of the Seas April and we're caught in a Force 12.The captain put up a map on the tv screens to show us we were in the 'Red' Force 12 section.This doesn't do it justice tho look at one of the waves at the end.It was like being at the Gates of Hell, I wobbled down the stairs and there was this tremendous 'CRACK' and it felt like the ship had torn in two.Duty free was flying round the shop,some dear old lady threw up her (saved for months) cruise breakfast in front of my aunt and was so embarrassed.No-one could go on deck and the wind howled like nothing I've heard before.Even worse was the fact that when I went into Johnny Rockets I put on 'Night Fever' to watch the waiters do a dance in the storm but they refused

Beaufort scale
The Beaufort scale /ˈboʊfərt/ is an empirical measure that relates wind speed to observed conditions at sea or on land. Its full name is the Beaufort wind force scale.
History
The scale was devised in 1805 by Francis Beaufort (later Rear Admiral Sir Francis Beaufort), an Irish Royal Navy officer, while serving in HMS Woolwich. The scale that carries Beaufort's name had a long and complex evolution from the previous work of others (including Daniel Defoe the century before) to when Beaufort was a top administrator in the Royal Navy in the 1830s when it was adopted officially and first used during the voyage of HMS Beagle under Captain Robert FitzRoy, later to set up the first Meteorological Office (Met Office) in Britain giving regular weather forecasts. In the early 19th century, naval officers made regular weather observations, but there was no standard scale and so they could be very subjective – one man's "stiff breeze" might be another's "soft breeze". Beaufort succeeded in standardizing the scale.

The only video to show what it is truly like to live and work on board a ship in a storm. The storm was classified Hurricane-force 12 on the Beaufort scale. Hurricane Bawbag was an intense extratropical cyclone, also known by the name Friedhelm, which brought hurricane-force winds to Scotland at the beginning of December 2011. The storm also brought prolonged gales and rough seas to the rest of the British Isles, as well as parts of Scandinavia. On 8 December, winds reached up to 165 mph (265 km/h). The storm was the worst to affect Scotland in 10 years The winter of 2011/12 is usually remembered for Bawbag among Scots.

Sailing to Madagascar we get hit by the biggest gale we've ever seen. We're about 240 miles East of the northern cape of Madagascar when the GRIB files start to show a compressed pressure gradient and forecasts of 30-40 knots. We shorten sail and prepare for the rough weather. The forecast is way too low and we end up seeing 50 knots of wind and 7-10M (20-30 ft) waves during the worst part of it, which of course happens at night. The crew gets tossed around like crazy and everyone is forced to stay in their bunks while Capt. Breeyawn and The Braidster take 30 minute shifts hand steering down the waves all night long. Hurricane sounds, storm sounds, wind sounds, strong wind, cyclone sound, typhoon, heavy storm sounds for 8 hours.
With all the news surrounding hurricane Matthew and now also the latest news about the cyclone Debbie I was curious to see if I could mix together a sound similar to a real hurricane.
I have never experienced a hurricane myself so I can't really judge how close I am to the real thing. If you have experienced a real hurricane, let me know in the comments if I was close :)
Also, I just learned that once a tropical cyclone reaches maximum sustained winds of 74 miles per hour or higher, it is then classified as a hurricane, typhoon, or cyclone depending upon where the storm originates in the world

It was the worst storm to hit England since the Great Storm of 1703[2] (284 years earlier) and was responsible for the deaths of at least 22 people in England and France combined (18 in England, at least four in France).[3]
According to the Beaufort scale of wind intensities, this storm had winds of hurricane force; however, the term hurricane refers to tropical cyclones originating in the North Atlantic or North Pacific. Hurricanes have a very different wind profile and distribution to storms, and significantly higher precipitation levels.
The storm was declared a rare event, expected to happen only once every several hundred years. However, the Burns' Day storm hit the United Kingdom in January 1990, less than three years later and with comparable intensity.

records.Irma is forecast to move west-northwestward throughout the most of
remainder of the forecast period. Around day 5, a shortwave trough
dropping southward over the central United States is expected to
begin eroding the western portion of the ridge, allowing a Irma to
gain some latitude. The new NHC track forecast is close to the
HFIP corrected consensus model and is very similar to the previous
forecast.
Since Irma is a large hurricane, users are reminded to not focus on
the exact forecast track since tropical-storm and hurricane-force
winds and life-threatening storm surge extend far from the center.
Residents in the Leeward Islands should complete their preparations
very soon as the weather will begin to deteriorate over the
easternmost Leeward Islands later this afternoon.
1. Irma is a potentially catastrophic category 5 hurricane and will
bring life-threatening wind, storm surge, and rainfall hazards to
portions of the northeastern Leeward Islands beginning later today
and the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico beginning tomorrow.
Preparations should be rushed to completion before the arrival of
tropical-storm force winds later today in the Leeward Islands and
tomorrow morning in Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
2. Hurricane watches have been issued for portions of the Dominican
Republic and Haiti, the southeastern Bahamas and Turks and Caicos,
and Irma could bring dangerous wind, storm surge, and rainfall to
those areas on Thursday and Friday.
3. Irma could directly affect the remainder of the Bahamas and Cuba
as an extremely dangerous major hurricane later this week. Residents
in these areas should monitor the progress of Irma and listen to
advice given by officials.
4. The chance of direct impacts from Irma later this week and this
weekend is increasing in the Florida Keys and portions of the
Florida Peninsula. However, it is too soon to specify the timing
and magnitude of the impacts. Elsewhere, it is too early to
determine what direct impacts Irma might have on the continental
United States. Everyone in hurricane-prone areas should ensure that
they have their hurricane plan in place.
