British armed police detained a man on suspicion of having a knife after he ran, shouting, towards one of the gates of the Westminster parliament in central London on Friday.
"The man - aged in his 30s - was arrested," police said.

Westminster (/ˈwɛsᵗmɪnstər/) is an area of central London within the City of Westminster on the north bank of the River Thames. Westminster's concentration of visitor attractions and historic landmarks, one of the highest in London, includes the Palace of Westminster, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey and Westminster Cathedral.
Historically the area lay within St Margaret's parish, City & Liberty of Westminster, Middlesex.
The name Westminster originated from the informal description of the abbey church and royal peculiar of St Peter's (Westminster Abbey), literally West of the City of London, indeed until the Reformation there was a reference to the 'East Minster' at Minories (Holy Trinity Priory, Aldgate) east of the City; the abbey was part of the royal palace that had been created here by Edward the Confessor. It has been the home of the permanent institutions of England's government continuously since about 1200 (High Middle Ages' Plantagenet times) and is now the seat of British government.

Fox Sports (United States)
Fox Sports is the programming division of the Fox Broadcasting Company, owned by 21st Century Fox, that is responsible for sports broadcasts on the network, and its dedicated regional and national sports cable channels. The flagship entity of 21st Century Fox's Fox Sports Media Group division, it was formed in 1994 with Fox's acquisition of broadcast rights to National Football League (NFL) games. In subsequent years, it has televised the National Hockey League (1994–1999), Major League Baseball (1996–present), NASCAR (2001–present), Bowl Championship Series (2007–2010), the USGA Championships (2015–present), and the FIFA World Cup (starting in 2018).
History
When the Fox Broadcasting Company launched in October 1986, the network's management, having seen how sports programming (in particular, soccer events) played a critical role in the growth of the British satellite service BSkyB, determined that sports would be the type of programming that would ascend Fox to a major network status the quickest; as a result, Fox tried to attract a professional football package to the network. In 1987, after ABC initially hedged on renewing its contract with the National Football League (NFL) for the television rights to Monday Night Football, Fox made an offer for the package at the same price that ABC had been paying at the time – about $13 million per game. However, partly due to the fact that Fox had yet to establish itself as a major network, the NFL decided to resume negotiations with ABC, with the two parties eventually agreeing to a new contract, keeping what was the crown jewel of the league's television broadcasts on that network (where it remained until 2006, when MNF moved to sister network ESPN as part of a contract that also saw NBC gain the Sunday Night Football package).

London is one of the most visited cities in the whole world, and it's easy to see why. It is vibrant, it is exciting, and there's something to do every single night of the week. You could spend a full year in London and never run out of new places to visit, but since we were a bit more limited with our time, we decided to film a city guide showcasing 50 things to do in London. So Hello from London! Time for a new destination. This is a city that I haven't visited in almost 4 years. So we're both very excited to be in London. And we're going to be making a little video guide. Actually a really big video guide because we plan on showing you 50 different things to do around London.
Our first stop was Trafalgar Square. This square leads to a lot of central attractions, so it's a nice place to people watch, get your bearings, and plan out where you want to go in the city.
The London Eye is a giant Ferris wheel on the South Bank of the Thames. It offers a bird's eye view of the city.
Buckingham Palace has served as the official London residence for Britain's sovereigns since 1837. The State Rooms at Buckingham Palace are open to visitors every year.
The Palace of Westminster, also known as the Houses of Parliament, is the meeting place of the House of Commons and the House of Lords. The Palace along with Big Ben are two of the top London attractions that dot the city-scape.
The Tower of London sits on the north bank of the River Thames.
And that's a wrap for London! Like with any mega city, it's impossible to cover all the sights and attractions you can enjoy here, but hopefully this video will give you an idea of what London has to offer.

In this video tour, David Hill of New York Habitat (http://www.nyhabitat.com) explores the historic area of Westminster in London! As the political and cultural heart of London, Westminster houses the Palace of Westminster, which is the seat of government, as well as Buckingham Palace, which is the residence of the Royal Family. To the north, Westminster is bounded by Mayfair and Trafalgar Square; to the east and south by the River Thames; and to the west by Knightsbridge and Chelsea. In this video tour, we'll take you to the Houses of Parliament; Westminster Abbey; Buckingham Palace and more!
The Houses of Parliament
The tour starts at the Palace of Westminster, which is more commonly known as the Houses of Parliament. The Parliament have been meeting here since the 13th Century, and the first Royal Palace built on this site even dates back to the 11th Century! The present Palace was built in the 19th Century after the previous palace burned down. Both the House of Commons and the House of Lords meet in the Palace. The building, complete with the Elizabeth Tower or Big Ben, has become one of the most iconic landmarks in London.
Westminster Abbey
Westminster Abbey was constructed almost a thousand years ago. Over the years it has seen numerous coronations and royal weddings. The most recent of these was the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton in 2011. There are also a great number of national figures buried in the Abbey, including Geoffrey Chaucer, Charles Darwin and Isaac Newton. The Abbey's cloister and gardens are also very much worth a visit.
Buckingham Palace
Buckingham Palace is also located in Westminster. Tourists come to the gates of the Palace every day to watch the Changing of the Guards in the courtyard. For some time in the summer you can even visit the Palace's staterooms. Even if you don't visit the inside of the Palace, it's quite a thrill to see the Royal Standard flag wave high above the palace, signaling the Queen is in residence.

At the eastern end of the park you'll find the impressive Horse Guards Parade, where tournaments used to be held.
Victoria Station
London Victoria Station is one of the busiest terminuses in London and the UK, and is located right in the middle of Westminster. This makes it very easy to get to Westminster from other parts of the country by train. The station also includes an air terminal to Gatwick Airport, as well as access to many bus lines and the London Underground. The Circle Line, District Line and Victoria Line all have stops at Victoria Station.
Belgrave Square
Belgrave Square in Westminster is one of the most popular residential areas in London. The beautiful white-stuccoed houses are a great example of some of the best of 19th century architecture. Nowadays many of the mansions on the square house embassies.
Westminster's Traditional Pubs
The Grenadier near Belgrave Square is just one of the many great traditional pubs you can find all over in Westminster. These historic pubs often have striking names, such as The Ship & Shovell Pub, The Princess of Wales and Champagne Charlies. At these pubs you can try a traditional serving of fish & chips served with a nice pint of ale!
