"Hallo Spaceboy" is a song by David Bowie from his 1995 album Outside. The track was re-recorded the following year, and issued as a single, featuring the Pet Shop Boys as guest vocalists. Bowie and Brian Eno co-wrote the original album version of the song.
Bowie wrote the song in mostly-improvised sessions with his band in 1995, and intentionally wrote it with a Nine Inch Nails-like vibe. Of the track, Bowie said "I adore that track. In my mind, it was like Jim Morrison meets industrial. When I heard it back, I thought, 'Fuck me. It's like metal Doors.' It's an extraordinary sound."
The commercial (i.e. non-promo) version of the single featured a remix by Pet Shop Boys as the lead track, not the original album version. In contrast to the original, the single remix was far more disco-oriented and featured additional lyrics sung by Neil Tennant. The introduction was sampled from the opener to Outside, "Leon Takes Us Outside". Bowie initially expressed reservation about the additions, which referenced and "cut-up" the lyrics to "Space Oddity," but later agreed that they worked well so long as Tennant sang them.

Pet Shop is a 1994 film by Moonbeam Entertainment.
An alien couple comes to Earth disguised as a cowboy and cowgirl and buy a pet shop from its owner in an attempt to try to eat some of Earth's children for dinner. They look like normal people aside from the fact that they have a third eye on their foreheads which they cover with their hats. One by one they give some pets to random kids free of charge. The pets at first seem normal, until they change into their alien forms. The kids meet when they return to the pet shop because their pets stop eating and need some type of "vitamins" that the aliens feed them.
Originally intended for a release in the summer of 1994, the film ended up being released on videocassette on March 28, 1995. To this day, the film has never been released on DVD and as of September 26, 2010, neither Paramount Pictures nor Full Moon Features has yet to announce any plans to release the film onto DVD.
Gawd! I remember buying this on cassette single and is another one that i didn't realise was blocked. Just in case you were wondering, that's the reason the video is reversed 🎈! The original was issued in 1995 on Bowies 'Outside' album. The Pet Shop Boys remix, the version in the video was released in the Spring of '96 and peaked at no12 in the UK. Another one of David Bowies outstanding collaborations.

This chaos is killing me!

Pounding track that leaves no breathing, one of the absolute peaks of "1.Outside", a masterpiece album full of Flemish-reds and Expressionist-blacks involving the listener in a sound space unpredictable, exciting and limitless.
Commander Chris Hadfield nowie Hallo Spaceboy
From "1.Outside", co-written with Brian Eno, wonderful version of rousing music, pounding rhythm, haunting and seductive. Bowie/Prog-Rock: with an elaborate and spectacular sound, drum'n'bass, was also the precursor of Trip-Hop.
David Bowie performing 'Hallo Spaceboy' at Howard Stern's birthday
Often when you hear a song you like, you start imagining how it would come out if your own band covers it. That's exactly what happened when we watched a DVD close to ten years ago, and experienced David Bowie perform "Hallo Spaceboy". It was an inspiring moment and the ideas started flowing, and we eventually released our own version on our CD God's Equation in 2007. We later got word from Bowie himself, through his publisher, saying that this was the best cover he had heard of "Hallo Spaceboy". Here it is in all its glory, a moment we are proud of, from our upcoming Blu-ray, DVD and LP Full Circle - Live at Center Stage. Full Circle - Live at Center Stage, out now on Steamhammer/SPV. (Hallo) Spaceboy,
you're sleepy now
Your silhouette is so stationary
You're released but your custody calls
And I want to be free
Don't you want to be free
Do you like girls or boys
It's confusing these days
But Moondust will cover you
Cover you
This chaos is killing me
So bye bye love
Yeah bye bye love
Bye bye love
Yeah bye bye love
This chaos is killing me
And the chaos is calling me
Yeah bye bye love
This chaos is killing me
Yeah bye bye love
Bye bye love
Good time love
Be sweet sweet dove
Bye bye spaceboy
Bye bye love
