Plans for a modern, high-quality shopping centre have been unveiled for the burgeoning Molonglo Valley suburb of Denman Prospect.
The Denman Village Shops, set to open in September 2018, will feature up to 15 stores including a 1000-square-metre supermarket, cafes, a standalone medical precinct and a chemist.
Capital Airport Group managing director Stephen Byron said the centre’s contemporary design reflects the suburb’s natural surroundings with earthy tones and timber features.

Double-height ceilings were incorporated to create light and airy interiors.
“Exceptional design and high-quality materials, combined with high-calibre tenants, public art and views across Craven’s Creek Reserve will make Denman Village Shops like no other local shops in the region,” Mr Byron said.
“We appointed AMC Architecture to do the design for us and what they have delivered, in association with our team, is something very contemporary.”
He said expressions of interest were being sought from potential tenants seeking retail space from 45 square metres to more than 200 square metres.
The centre will be built on the corner of Felstead Vista and Holborow Avenue and include more than 2300 square metres of retail floor space.
Mr Byron said the medical centre would not only house a local doctor but “a range of medical services and facilities that will really be for the whole of the Molonglo Valley”.
“We’re conscious it is not going to be just Denman Prospect residents enjoying this shopping centre but also people from Wright and Coombs.”
He said there would be an “abundance of car parking” outside the shops, with Action Buses to commence services to the suburb in the near future.
The development includes 12 two and three-bedroom townhouses above the retail space with views across the Molonglo Valley.
Mr Byron said the dwellings were due to hit the market in February 2018.
He expected other residential development sites surrounding the shops, including a separate apartment block, to hit the market in the next three to six months.
The indicative cost of the shops development is $19 million, up from $18.5 million in August.
The project will be completed nine months ahead of schedule.
Denman Prospect is the first suburb in Australia to require solar panels on every home.
Mr Byron said the minimum requirement was for a 3kW system however, a number of residents have upsized to 5kW.
