The great Blu Mankuma, an underrated yet immensely talented actor, as Captain Joe Reese in a scene from FK episode "Black Buddha part 1" S03 E01. Reese is definitely my favorite captain out of the 3. I simply love how Blu delivers his lines! As fans know, FK was completely revamped (unintentional pun, yet so à propos here) and a couple of main characters were written off & replaced by several newcomers. It's like watching a different show, which initially can be a bit of a shock when you've come to know & get attached to the original characters and the talents behind them. But for the most part, the new cast was incredibly talented & had undeniable chemistry; the stories maintained the same high caliber writing and the production continued to excel and deliver outstanding episodes. Thankfully Fred Mollin stayed with the series, which really helped accept the transition and maintain the familiar thrilling atmosphere of the original seasons. For as much as the original cast was missed, it was easy to get attached to the new characters as they were well written, intriguing and superbly portrayed by this new addition of phenomenal Canadian talent. (Even though Blu Mankuma is American, just like Ben Bass, he resides & works exclusively in Canada). It's truly a pity that there was no second season with the new cast (which would have been FK S04) but the production definitely delivered and gave us a memorable finale; where so many TV shows end or are canceled leaving both characters and audiences "hanging", the writers & producers concluded the series by going seemingly where no other show had been and, love it or hate it, giving us perfect closure. It was heart-wrenching and simply sublime!

In the episode "Gigabyte," Blu Mankuma did the voice of the super-virus named Gigabyte (who appeared after Megabyte fused with Hexadecimal [while he was infected by a web-creature]).

Blu Mankuma
Blu Mankuma (born July 5, 1948) is an American actor. He has appeared in numerous Canadian and American productions filmed in Canada. Mankuma is also a stage actor, musician, singer, and songwriter. He and his family currently live in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Career
Among Mankuma's film credits are Tin Man, The Russia House, Another Stakeout, Halloweentown II: Kalabar's Revenge, Harmony Gate, Bird on a Wire, Harmony Cats, Cadence, Look Who's Talking, Connor's War, Shoot to Kill, Blacktop, Eureka, and 2012. Television credits include continuing roles on M.A.N.T.I.S., Forever Knight, Madison, Love on the Run (1994), Street Justice, Mom P.I., 21 Jump Street, Huckleberry Finn and His Friends, RoboCop and his role as host of the seven-part series Diversity. Martin Sheen
Ramón Antonio Gerardo Estévez (born August 3, 1940), better known by his stage name Martin Sheen, is an American actor who first became known for his roles in the films The Subject Was Roses (1968) and Badlands (1973), and later achieved wide recognition for his leading role in Apocalypse Now (1979).
Other notable films in Sheen's career include Gandhi (1982), Gettysburg (1993), The Departed (2006), and The Amazing Spider-Man (2012). He also starred in the television series The West Wing (1999–2006) as President Josiah Bartlet.
In film, he has won the Best Actor award at the San Sebastián International Film Festival for his performance as Kit Carruthers in Badlands. His portrayal of Capt. Willard in Apocalypse Now earned a nomination for the BAFTA Award for Best Actor. Sheen has worked with a wide variety of film directors, such as Richard Attenborough, Francis Ford Coppola, Terrence Malick, David Cronenberg, Mike Nichols, Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, and Oliver Stone. He has had a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame since 1989. In television, he has won both a Golden Globe and two Screen Actors Guild awards for playing the role of President Josiah Bartlet in The West Wing, and an Emmy for guest starring in the sitcom Murphy Brown.

The great Blu Mankuma, an underrated yet immensely talented actor, as Captain Joe Reese in a scene from FK episode "Black Buddha part 1" S03 E01. Reese is definitely my favorite captain out of the 3. I simply love how Blu delivers his lines! As fans know, FK was completely revamped (unintentional pun, yet so à propos here) and a couple of main characters were written off & replaced by several newcomers. It's like watching a different show, which initially can be a bit of a shock when you've come to know & get attached to the original characters and the talents behind them. But for the most part, the new cast was incredibly talented & had undeniable chemistry; the stories maintained the same high caliber writing and the production continued to excel and deliver outstanding episodes. Well the voice of Flutterguy was provided by Blu Mankuma (in the episode "Bridle Gossip," in "Filli Vanilli" Flutterguy was voiced by Alvin Sanders [speaking voice] and Marcus Mosely [singing voice]), and he was also in ReBoot! In the episode "Gigabyte," Blu Mankuma did the voice of the super-virus named Gigabyte (who appeared after Megabyte fused with Hexadecimal [while he was infected by a web-creature]).

American/Canadian artist Alexander Boynton Jr. is a smooth jazz triple-threat when it comes to creating sinfully sexy songs. He's got the bass on melodic overdrive, the talent to craft powerful tales of love, and the team to bring it all together in a musical tour de force. From the minute you press play on Doo Bee Doo Bop, his first solo release, he'll have your body grooving to his tunes.
A contemporary composer, songwriter, bass player and bandleader, Boynton Jr. is best known for his contributions as bassist in the Canadian Juno-award-winning group (Canadian Grammys) The Payola$.
Since then, his musical collaborations have included the likes of David Foster, Bob Rock, Paul Hyde, Jeff Lorber, David Pickell and Blu Mankuma, and he has opened for a host of big names, including Bryan Adams, Super Tramp and Duran Duran. He has also worked as a sideman to a number of successful rhythm and blues, rock and pop bands.
Boyton Jr.'s roots, however, are firmly planted in R&B; and gospel. Hailing originally from Chattanooga, Tennessee, Boynton Jr. grew up in Los Angeles, where he learned to play bass in school. He honed his craft in church groups before bringing his sweet brand of gospel groove to Hollywood North.
He continued to study music at Vancouver's Capilano and Douglas colleges, where he fell in love with classical music, composition and the contrabass. He devoted himself to songwriting, composing instrumental scores and playing in a small string orchestra. He launched his professional recording career in Vancouver with pop-soul group Smokin Pocket.
Alongside his music career, Boynton Jr. experimented with stage acting, movies and TV, appearing in Five Guys Named Moe and Wang Ding Doodle on stage, Wrongfully Accused on screen, as well as popular TV series 21 Jump Street, The X-Files and The Outer Limits. He also played the drummer in George Michael's music video for "Kissing a Fool".
During the day, Boynton Jr. runs a website development company called Infopower Technologies, and teaches computer skills in adult education at the University of British Columbia. But as night falls, the rhythm takes over.
Doo Bee Doo Bop, his first major solo record, reflects the artistry imprinted on his soul from his years moving church-goers to the spirit of gospel. His music, while approachable and easy to enjoy, is at once deep and filled with light, soulful and sinfully sexy, joyous and gracefully composed. It explores the relationships that fill our lives with meaning, with melodies that fill our hearts with joy.
With influences ranging from James Brown, Marvin Gaye and Smoky Robinson, to rock inspirations like Yes and Sam Cook, Boynton Jr.'s musical well runs deep. Blu Mankuma "So I suck up!" *Forever Knight* (Nick resigns)
The great Blu Mankuma, an underrated yet immensely talented actor, as Captain Joe Reese in a scene from FK episode "Black Buddha part 1" S03 E01. Reese is definitely my favorite captain out of the 3. I simply love how Blu delivers his lines! As fans know, FK was completely revamped (unintentional pun, yet so à propos here) and a couple of main characters were written off & replaced by several newcomers. It's like watching a different show, which initially can be a bit of a shock when you've come to know & get attached to the original characters and the talents behind them. But for the most part, the new cast was incredibly talented & had undeniable chemistry; the stories maintained the same high caliber writing and the production continued to excel and deliver outstanding episodes. Like its reported over bloated budget of $260 million, everything about 2012 is huge and expansive. From the films length (158 minutes!) to the special effects, and all the way to its believability factor, 2012 is a film of massive proportions.
Different kinds of epic proportions awaits us in the year 2012. According to the film, the apocalypse is near. The Mayan calendar is set to reach the end of its 13th cycle on December 21, 2012 and nothing follows that date. 2012 tells the story of whats to come.
At the center of death and destruction is Jackson Curtis (John Cusack), a failed author with a failed marriage. He stumbles upon the news that the world as we know it is coming to an end. So the poor sap becomes a hero in the eyes of his kids, his ex-wife Kate (Amanda Pete) and her current husband, Gordon (Thomas McCarthy).
2012s narrative is told from two points of view: those who know about the cataclysmic events that await the earth and those who remain in the dark. Woody Harrelson steals the show as a hippie prophet named Charlie Frost who tells Jackson about the impending gloom and doom.
Director Roland Emmerich, the current father of disaster movies, knows the formula by now. Credible actors playing good and evil characters facing unbelievable situations equals apocalypse film at its finest. Emmerich used this time-tested formula in Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow, heck, even Godzilla, and now, the director has used it again in 2012.
When the film works, it really works! The first half of the film is a joyful orgasm of exploding cities! Oh look, Santa Monica falling into the ocean! Goodbye Yellowstone! Arrivederci Roma! But after a few of these eye-popping monstrosities, the novelty wears thin.
Emmerich co-wrote the campy script with Harald Kloser who previously worked with the director in 10,000 B.C. There are many unintentionally funny scenes but there also some good moments with genuine emotion.
One of my favorite scenes involves actor Chiwetel Ejiofor who plays the presidents chief science advisor. Hes warning his cruise-ship singer father, played by Blu Mankuma, about the imminent disaster. These two great actors are not even shown in a scene together theyre talking on the phone but their performances resonate emotionally.
Remember the scene in Independence Day where Bill Pullman as President Thomas J. Whitmore addresses the country about the looming alien invasion? Theres a similar scene in 2012 featuring Danny Glover as President Thomas Wilson. But Glover as the commander-in-chief doesnt have the same gravitas as Pullman. His character is reduced to a caricature.
Im torn with this film. On the one hand, I love disaster flicks and all its merry mayhem. I was like a kid in a candy store taking in all the apocalyptic images the movie could muster. But I overdosed quickly! By the final reel, I found myself looking at my watch, hoping for 2012 to end. I even caught myself rolling my eyes at the preposterous conclusion.
I did like the image that Emmerich used in the end. For one brief second, I caught a glimpse of what 2012 was supposed to be. But the majority of its budget was used on special effects and not to perfect the storyline.
Its a shame because I was ready to embrace the film and all its clichés, formulas, and plot holes. I was even willing to throw out the film critic handbook because there are many exciting and entertaining moments.
Alas, 2012 is reduced to being wonderfully messy. But theres salvation! This coming Thanksgiving, another apocalyptic film is coming to theaters. Its called The Road starring Viggo Mortensen based on the Pulitzer-prized winning novel by Cormac McCarthy (No Country for Old Men).
Enjoy being a witness to seeing the world end in 2012, and then pay attention to how the remaining survivors live in The Road, a much better and deeper disaster movie.

The great Blu Mankuma, an underrated yet immensely talented actor, as Captain Joe Reese in a scene from FK episode "Black Buddha part 1" S03 E01. Reese is definitely my favorite captain out of the 3. I simply love how Blu delivers his lines! As fans know, FK was completely revamped (unintentional pun, yet so à propos here) and a couple of main characters were written off & replaced by several newcomers. It's like watching a different show, which initially can be a bit of a shock when you've come to know & get attached to the original characters and the talents behind them. But for the most part, the new cast was incredibly talented & had undeniable chemistry; the stories maintained the same high caliber writing and the production continued to excel and deliver outstanding episodes. Thankfully Fred Mollin stayed with the series, which really helped accept the transition and maintain the familiar thrilling atmosphere of the original seasons. For as much as the original cast was missed, it was easy to get attached to the new characters as they were well written, intriguing and superbly portrayed by this new addition of phenomenal Canadian talent. (Even though Blu Mankuma is American, just like Ben Bass, he resides & works exclusively in Canada). It's truly a pity that there was no second season with the new cast (which would have been FK S04) but the production definitely delivered and gave us a memorable finale; where so many TV shows end or are canceled leaving both characters and audiences "hanging", the writers & producers concluded the series by going seemingly where no other show had been and, love it or hate it, giving us perfect closure. It was heart-wrenching and simply sublime!
