The recent announcement made regarding the firearm advisory committee members selected to give counsel on the generation of a new Firearm Act, is more than just a little unsettling.
I am truly disheartened to see that such a high number of those selected have either no stake in the firearm community lifestyle, knowledge of firearms, or are in some way directly connected to Canada's largest Gun Control lobby group.
7 out of 10 members that would clearly fail to understand the firearm community, the needs of its rapidly growing membership, or the impact they would have on Canada's finest citizens....is a completely unacceptable situation.
The fastest growing group of law abiding citizens in Canadian culture is the recreational shooting community. Any advisory group selected by this government that will ultimately have such an enormous impact on the lives of so many, should definitely have proper representation within its membership to reflect the community it is affecting.
It is possible to select objective members of the firearm community and still maintain the ability to create legislation that keeps the public safety at the forefront of their minds. That is the opposite of what we are seeing here.
The bias that will be demonstrated by this chosen group is very clear to the legitimate gun owners of Canada already, and you should expect that I and many others just like me will be forwarding our concerns to our respective members of parliament, about obvious inequitable treatment before the process of the generation of new legislation has even begun.
Very disappointing to see this coming from our leadership.
You can expect a calculated and immediate vocal response from our community.

15 year old, Kate Marshall's pro Orkambi testimony before the Open Public Hearing OPH portion of the May 12, 2015 Pulmonary-Allergy Drugs Advisory Committee (PADAC) on May 12, 2015 in Washington, DC.
Kate has two copies of the D508 gene which Orkambi, (the combination of Ivacaftor and Lumacaftor, both discovered by Vertex Pharmaceuticals) treats.
Kate traveled to DC with her mother Martha from Maine where she is a sophomore at York High School, an honor roll student and a two sport varsity athlete (soccer & lacrosse). Notably, Kate was awarded with Sports Illustrated's High School Athlete of the month in December 2014.

Ravi Shastri
Ravishankar Jayadritha Shastri (born 27 May 1962) is former Indian cricketer and acting Director for the Indian cricket team since August, 2014. He represented the Indian national team in both Test and One-Day matches between 1981 and 1992. Although he started his career as a left arm spin bowler, he later transformed into a batting all–rounder.
As a batsman, he was essentially defensive with his trademark "chapati shot" (a flick off the pads), but he could raise his strike rate when required. Due to his above-average height (he stood 6' 3" tall) and an upright stance, he had a limited number of shots against fast bowling, but was able to put the lofted shot to good use against spin bowling. Shastri played either as an opening batsman or in the middle order.
The highlight of his career was when he was elected Champion of Champions in the World Championship of Cricket in Australia in 1985. In the same season, he equalled West Indian Garry Sobers's record of hitting six sixes in an over in first class cricket. He was regarded as a potential captain, but his image outside cricket, injuries and tendency to lose form at crucial times meant that he captained India in only one Test match.

The recent announcement made regarding the firearm advisory committee members selected to give counsel on the generation of a new Firearm Act, is more than just a little unsettling.
I am truly disheartened to see that such a high number of those selected have either no stake in the firearm community lifestyle, knowledge of firearms, or are in some way directly connected to Canada's largest Gun Control lobby group.
7 out of 10 members that would clearly fail to understand the firearm community, the needs of its rapidly growing membership, or the impact they would have on Canada's finest citizens....is a completely unacceptable situation.
The fastest growing group of law abiding citizens in Canadian culture is the recreational shooting community. Any advisory group selected by this government that will ultimately have such an enormous impact on the lives of so many, should definitely have proper representation within its membership to reflect the community it is affecting.
It is possible to select objective members of the firearm community and still maintain the ability to create legislation that keeps the public safety at the forefront of their minds. That is the opposite of what we are seeing here.
The bias that will be demonstrated by this chosen group is very clear to the legitimate gun owners of Canada already, and you should expect that I and many others just like me will be forwarding our concerns to our respective members of parliament, about obvious inequitable treatment before the process of the generation of new legislation has even begun.
Very disappointing to see this coming from our leadership.
You can expect a calculated and immediate vocal response from our community.

The FOIA Advisory Committee was established in accordance with the second United States Open Government National Action Plan released on December 5, 2013, and the directive in the FOIA, 5 U.S.C. § 552(h)(1)(C), that the Office of Government Information Services within the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) "identify procedures and methods for improving compliance" with FOIA. This Committee is governed by the provisions of the Federal Advisory Committee Act and serves as a deliberative body to advise on improvements to FOIA administration. The Committee will study the current FOIA landscape across the Executive Branch and may recommend legislative action, policy changes or executive action, among other matters.
