Lorde's much-awaited second album Melodrama isn't due to be released officially until midnight tonight but it appears that the entire album has been leaked online.

The album debuted at a private listening session in New York last night - but it is already available to download in full on multiple sites.

It's not due on Spotify until midnight and other streaming platforms until 2am NZ time on Friday.

Universal Music New Zealand, Lorde's local label, said they would not be commenting on the leaks.

Lorde's loyal fans on the other hand, upset by the leak, quickly took to Twitter to voice their opinions.

@breadleypasta said "my girl @lorde's album leaked, so people download the leak rather than supporting the artist by buying the album which hurts artist and sale".

@TaylorFBrim shared a similar sentiment: "Ok listeners of the #melodrama leak — do our bby girl @lorde right and buy this album when it drops. It's too good to not have our support!"

And Twitter user @Ripholidaydad suspected the leak came from within Lorde's own posse. "How does an album leak? Somebody's a snake, one of lorde's entourage deserves lethal injection," he said.

As for those who got to hear it all legitimately, the general consensus online looks to be overwhelmingly positive. Although, given that it's really only fans who have heard the album so far, that isn't really unexpected now is it?

Meanwhile, all pre-sale tickets for Lorde's New Zealand tour later this year have sold out, Frontier Touring have confirmed. Fans have one more chance to buy when tickets go on general sale on Monday. Some fans have complained online at being unable to secure tickets during the pre-sale.
