This is my final thesis project. I created info-graphic, motion piece. My objective is to make Japanese people to think about that everything happening here in Japan, isn't that normal. So I created this video from foreigner's point of view, rather than Japanese people's point of view.
Both English and Japanese versions are available.
By the way, please don't call me racist, because I am one of short, small eyes Japanese.

My Country
"My Country" is an iconic patriotic poem about Australia, written by Dorothea Mackellar (1885–1968) at the age of 19 while homesick in the United Kingdom. After travelling through Europe extensively with her father during her teenage years, she started writing the poem in London in 1904 and re-wrote it several times before her return to Sydney. The poem was first published in The Spectator in London on 5 September 1908 under the title "Core of My Heart". It was reprinted in many Australian newspapers, quickly becoming well known and establishing Mackellar as a poet.
Mackellar's family owned substantial properties in the Gunnedah district of New South Wales and a property (Torryburn) in the Paterson district of the Hunter Region. The inspiration for her poems undoubtedly came from the time she spent on the rural properties as a child. The poem is believed to have been directly inspired by witnessing the breaking of a drought when she was at Torryburn; "My Country" uses imagery to describe the land after the breaking of a long drought. Of ragged mountain ranges possibly refers to the Mount Royal Ranges, and the Barrington Tops.

A country is a region that is identified as a distinct entity in political geography. Lake Superior
Lake Superior (French: Lac Supérieur) is the largest of the Great Lakes of North America. The lake is shared by Canada's Ontario to the north, the United States' Minnesota to the west, and the United States' Wisconsin and Michigan to the south. It is generally considered the largest freshwater lake in the world by surface area. It is the world's third-largest freshwater lake by volume and the largest by volume in North America.
Name
The Ojibwe call the lake gichi-gami (pronounced as gitchi-gami and kitchi-gami in other dialects), meaning "be a great sea." Henry Wadsworth Longfellow wrote the name as "Gitche Gumee" in The Song of Hiawatha, as did Gordon Lightfoot in his song, "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald". According to other sources the actual Ojibwe name is Ojibwe Gichigami ("Ojibwe's Great Sea") or Anishinaabe Gichigami ("Anishinaabe's Great Sea"). The 1878 dictionary by Father Frederic Baraga, the first one written for the Ojibway language, gives the Ojibwe name as Otchipwe-kitchi-gami (reflecting Ojibwe Gichigami). The first French explorers approaching the great inland sea by way of the Ottawa River and Lake Huron during the 17th century referred to their discovery as le lac supérieur. Properly translated, the expression means "Upper Lake," that is, the lake above Lake Huron. The lake was also called Lac Tracy (named for Alexandre de Prouville de Tracy) by 17th century Jesuit missionaries. The British, upon taking control of the region from the French in the 1760s following the French and Indian War, anglicized the lake's name to Superior, "on account of its being superior in magnitude to any of the lakes on that vast continent."

This video is my first larger scale time lapse compilation cut down to over 10k photo frames equaling 33 scenes of various night sky events from Northern Michigan. It took a year to shoot in many cold nights with lots of coffee, a bit tenacity and persistence to get this into a form of coherent electrified cosmic goodness. Night sky-capes include multiple northern lights scenes, meteor showers, nebulae, planets, including Venus and Jupiter setting , constellations, the milky way, comet Pan-Starrs, night-scapes over both Lake Superior and Lake Michigan. Thought I might mention some of the more interesting wildlife encounters during the photo gathering- 1.sparring moose on Isle Royale under a pitch black sky after wrapping the Isle Royale Tobin Harbor airglow / northern lights opening scene at 3am in the morning, with their thunderous antlers clashing with fear inducing power that could be felt in the knashing soundwaves echoing in the hills, (and I had to hike a two mile 'deer path' back to my shelter in the direction of those moose, I survived to tell the tale without getting pancaked) 2. the howl of wolves in the eastern UP piercing the freezing air under a calm full moon sky 3.a particularly persistent beaver on an inland lake in the Hiawatha National Forest, determined to be in just about every frame with a methodically spaced tail slap on an otherwise beautifully FLAT CALM star reflected lake- sooo even though the star reflection sequence is blown by this beaver with a 'tude, the scene is included anyway as a humorous memory 4. the blue heron fishing for a midnight snack by auroral light at the mouth of Sand River and Lake Superior- if only I would have not moved, this heron would have walked the river bank thru the entire frame.. Rare pairings caught on camera include ribbons of aurora above a full moon fogbow on the horizon of Lake Superior, the aurora and an isolated singular lightning storm cloud over Lake Superior, and the aurora and Milky Way in several scenes including Copper Harbor, Marquette, Isle Royale, Pictured Rocks, and Eagle Harbor Lighthouse. There are also a couple sequences of rare magenta/red aurora that I will never tire of. 3:45, 4:26 Blue Heron paused at 00:57 before I accidentally scared him away 00:15 incredible color spectrum of airglow and aurora- Isle Royale with big dipper reflection 1:54 lightning and aurora in July 2:13 Meteor Shower 2:40- beaver tail slap 2:54 Lake Superior Ice currents 3:36- featured on NBC Nightly News April 2012 5:07- Venus, Jupiter setting 5:42-PanStarrs 6:03-full moon Fogbow over Lake Superior under northern lights Thanks to Brian Malone for getting the scene at 2:54. I feel extremely fortunate to have witnessed and photographed the several strong auroral outbursts shown here from 2012 at a relatively southern 46.5 degrees latitude in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and am so grateful for the advances in high iso dslr technology to allow for time-lapse capture to be able to create these sequences for such high quality video reproduction of the night sky. All scenes are within 200 miles or so of my home in Marquette, Mi. and I feel very blessed to live where I do and to share the beauty that I see 'in my own backyard' with you. I hope it inspires others to take time to find the beauty that is everywhere around us and also to raise an awareness about the importance of preserving our night wondrous starlit skies. Two months ago we set out for a weeklong trip to Yosemite National Park. Inspired by Sheldon Neill, Colin Delehanty (Yosemite) and naturally Tom Lowe (TimeScapes), I got hold of a Stage Zero Timelapse Dolly so I could try to take a few time-lapse shots of the breathtaking landscape in the park. I soon discovered that one week is not nearly enough time for a meaningful project and therefore decided to make my time-lapse debut at home in the Ore Mountains in the Czech Republic, in the very heart of Europe. My Kochi
This was my first trip to India, and I was dazzled by the energy, color, and life that emerged around every corner. I was visiting for a commercial shoot and shot this in my spare time over a couple days. What captured me most about India was the ways in which people, animals and flora have adapted to co-exist in a tightly knit ballet, always seeming to be just on the edge of chaos. This video is my first larger scale time lapse compilation cut down to over 10k photo frames equaling 33 scenes of various night sky events from Northern Michigan. It took a year to shoot in many cold nights with lots of coffee, a bit tenacity and persistence to get this into a form of coherent electrified cosmic goodness.
Night sky-capes include multiple northern lights scenes, meteor showers, nebulae, planets, including Venus and Jupiter setting , constellations, the milky way, comet Pan-Starrs, night-scapes over both Lake Superior and Lake Michigan.
Thought I might mention some of the more interesting wildlife encounters during the photo gathering-
1.sparring moose on Isle Royale under a pitch black sky after wrapping the Isle Royale Tobin Harbor airglow / northern lights opening scene at 3am in the morning, with their thunderous antlers clashing with fear inducing power that could be felt in the knashing soundwaves echoing in the hills, (and I had to hike a two mile 'deer path' back to my shelter in the direction of those moose, I survived to tell the tale without getting pancaked)
2. the howl of wolves in the eastern UP piercing the freezing air under a calm full moon sky
3.a particularly persistent beaver on an inland lake in the Hiawatha National Forest, determined to be in just about every frame with a methodically spaced tail slap on an otherwise beautifully FLAT CALM star reflected lake- sooo even though the star reflection sequence is blown by this beaver with a 'tude, the scene is included anyway as a humorous memory
4. the blue heron fishing for a midnight snack by auroral light at the mouth of Sand River and Lake Superior- if only I would have not moved, this heron would have walked the river bank thru the entire frame..
Rare pairings caught on camera include ribbons of aurora above a full moon fogbow on the horizon of Lake Superior, the aurora and an isolated singular lightning storm cloud over Lake Superior, and the aurora and Milky Way in several scenes including Copper Harbor, Marquette, Isle Royale, Pictured Rocks, and Eagle Harbor Lighthouse.
There are also a couple sequences of rare magenta/red aurora that I will never tire of. 3:45, 4:26

I feel extremely fortunate to have witnessed and photographed the several strong auroral outbursts shown here from 2012 at a relatively southern 46.5 degrees latitude in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and am so grateful for the advances in high iso dslr technology to allow for time-lapse capture to be able to create these sequences for such high quality video reproduction of the night sky.
All scenes are within 200 miles or so of my home in Marquette, Mi. and I feel very blessed to live where I do and to share the beauty that I see 'in my own backyard' with you. I hope it inspires others to take time to find the beauty that is everywhere around us and also to raise an awareness about the importance of preserving our night wondrous starlit skies.

Two months ago we set out for a weeklong trip to Yosemite National Park. Inspired by Sheldon Neill, Colin Delehanty (Yosemite) and naturally Tom Lowe (TimeScapes), I got hold of a Stage Zero Timelapse Dolly so I could try to take a few time-lapse shots of the breathtaking landscape in the park. I soon discovered that one week is not nearly enough time for a meaningful project and therefore decided to make my time-lapse debut at home in the Ore Mountains in the Czech Republic, in the very heart of Europe.
Nearly every day for the entire summer I set off with my camera to the local mountains to try to capture moments that we don't ordinarily perceive as anything special, but which are in their very essence quite exceptional.
Thanks to this project, this summer was filled with the most meaningful experiences -- and I never had to leave my country. I discovered some beautiful spots I hadn't known before; I was often in the wilderness before the break of dawn, saw many animals in their natural habitat, witnessed stunning sunsets and fled looming storms with my equipment over my shoulders.
I didn't manage to capture everything as I would have wanted, but I came away with several good catches such as the swift approach of a mountain storm and a Perseid meteor shower from the comet Swift-Tuttle, which passes the Earth once every 130 years.

This was my first trip to India, and I was dazzled by the energy, color, and life that emerged around every corner. I was visiting for a commercial shoot and shot this in my spare time over a couple days. What captured me most about India was the ways in which people, animals and flora have adapted to co-exist in a tightly knit ballet, always seeming to be just on the edge of chaos.
I only had time to visit one city this time around, but I hope to return soon and see more of this boundlessly fascinating country.

This was my first trip to India, and I was dazzled by the energy, color, and life that emerged around every corner. I was visiting for a commercial shoot and shot this in my spare time over a couple days. What captured me most about India was the ways in which people, animals and flora have adapted to co-exist in a tightly knit ballet, always seeming to be just on the edge of chaos.

So I created this video from foreigner's point of view, rather than Japanese people's point of view. Both English and Japanese versions are available. Two months ago we set out for a weeklong trip to Yosemite National Park. Inspired by Sheldon Neill, Colin Delehanty (Yosemite) and naturally Tom Lowe (TimeScapes), I got hold of a Stage Zero Timelapse Dolly so I could try to take a few time-lapse shots of the breathtaking landscape in the park. I soon discovered that one week is not nearly enough time for a meaningful project and therefore decided to make my time-lapse debut at home in the Ore Mountains in the Czech Republic, in the very heart of Europe. This is my final thesis project. I created info-graphic, motion piece. My objective is to make Japanese people to think about that everything happening here in Japan, isn't that normal. So I created this video from foreigner's point of view, rather than Japanese people's point of view.
Both English and Japanese versions are available.
By the way, please don't call me racist, because I am one of short, small eyes Japanese.

This video is my first larger scale time lapse compilation cut down to over 10k photo frames equaling 33 scenes of various night sky events from Northern Michigan. It took a year to shoot in many cold nights with lots of coffee, a bit tenacity and persistence to get this into a form of coherent electrified cosmic goodness.
Night sky-capes include multiple northern lights scenes, meteor showers, nebulae, planets, including Venus and Jupiter setting , constellations, the milky way, comet Pan-Starrs, night-scapes over both Lake Superior and Lake Michigan.
Thought I might mention some of the more interesting wildlife encounters during the photo gathering-
1.sparring moose on Isle Royale under a pitch black sky after wrapping the Isle Royale Tobin Harbor airglow / northern lights opening scene at 3am in the morning, with their thunderous antlers clashing with fear inducing power that could be felt in the knashing soundwaves echoing in the hills, (and I had to hike a two mile 'deer path' back to my shelter in the direction of those moose, I survived to tell the tale without getting pancaked)
2. the howl of wolves in the eastern UP piercing the freezing air under a calm full moon sky
3.a particularly persistent beaver on an inland lake in the Hiawatha National Forest, determined to be in just about every frame with a methodically spaced tail slap on an otherwise beautifully FLAT CALM star reflected lake- sooo even though the star reflection sequence is blown by this beaver with a 'tude, the scene is included anyway as a humorous memory
4. the blue heron fishing for a midnight snack by auroral light at the mouth of Sand River and Lake Superior- if only I would have not moved, this heron would have walked the river bank thru the entire frame..
Rare pairings caught on camera include ribbons of aurora above a full moon fogbow on the horizon of Lake Superior, the aurora and an isolated singular lightning storm cloud over Lake Superior, and the aurora and Milky Way in several scenes including Copper Harbor, Marquette, Isle Royale, Pictured Rocks, and Eagle Harbor Lighthouse.
There are also a couple sequences of rare magenta/red aurora that I will never tire of. 3:45, 4:26

I feel extremely fortunate to have witnessed and photographed the several strong auroral outbursts shown here from 2012 at a relatively southern 46.5 degrees latitude in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and am so grateful for the advances in high iso dslr technology to allow for time-lapse capture to be able to create these sequences for such high quality video reproduction of the night sky.
All scenes are within 200 miles or so of my home in Marquette, Mi. and I feel very blessed to live where I do and to share the beauty that I see 'in my own backyard' with you. I hope it inspires others to take time to find the beauty that is everywhere around us and also to raise an awareness about the importance of preserving our night wondrous starlit skies.

Two months ago we set out for a weeklong trip to Yosemite National Park. Inspired by Sheldon Neill, Colin Delehanty (Yosemite) and naturally Tom Lowe (TimeScapes), I got hold of a Stage Zero Timelapse Dolly so I could try to take a few time-lapse shots of the breathtaking landscape in the park. I soon discovered that one week is not nearly enough time for a meaningful project and therefore decided to make my time-lapse debut at home in the Ore Mountains in the Czech Republic, in the very heart of Europe.
Nearly every day for the entire summer I set off with my camera to the local mountains to try to capture moments that we don't ordinarily perceive as anything special, but which are in their very essence quite exceptional.
Thanks to this project, this summer was filled with the most meaningful experiences -- and I never had to leave my country. I discovered some beautiful spots I hadn't known before; I was often in the wilderness before the break of dawn, saw many animals in their natural habitat, witnessed stunning sunsets and fled looming storms with my equipment over my shoulders.
I didn't manage to capture everything as I would have wanted, but I came away with several good catches such as the swift approach of a mountain storm and a Perseid meteor shower from the comet Swift-Tuttle, which passes the Earth once every 130 years.

This was my first trip to India, and I was dazzled by the energy, color, and life that emerged around every corner. I was visiting for a commercial shoot and shot this in my spare time over a couple days. What captured me most about India was the ways in which people, animals and flora have adapted to co-exist in a tightly knit ballet, always seeming to be just on the edge of chaos.
I only had time to visit one city this time around, but I hope to return soon and see more of this boundlessly fascinating country.
