A capital city (or simply capital) is the municipality enjoying primary status in a country, state, province, or other region, usually as its seat of government. A capital is typically a city that physically encompasses the offices and meeting places of its respective government; the status as capital is often designated by its law or constitution. In some jurisdictions, including several countries, the different branches of government are located in different settlements. In some cases, a distinction is made between the official (constitutional) capital and the seat of government, which is in another place.
The word capital derives from the Latin caput, meaning "head".
In several English-speaking states, the terms county town, county seat, and borough seat are also used in lower subdivisions. In unitary states, subnational capitals are commonly known as "administrative centres".
An alternative term is headtown. The capital is often, but not necessarily, the largest city of its constituent.
Capital City or Capitol City or variants, may refer to :
Abu Dhabi (US /ˈɑːbuː ˈdɑːbi/, UK /ˈæbuː ˈdɑːbi/; Arabic: أبو ظبي Abū Ẓabī Emirati pronunciation [ɐˈbuˈðˤɑbi]) is the capital and the second most populous city in the United Arab Emirates (the most populous being Dubai), and also capital of Abu Dhabi emirate, the largest of the UAE's seven member emirates. Abu Dhabi lies on a T-shaped island jutting into the Persian Gulf from the central western coast. The city proper had a population of 1.5 million in 2014.
Abu Dhabi houses federal government offices, is the seat of the United Arab Emirates Government, home to the Abu Dhabi Emiri Family and the President of the UAE, who is from this family. Abu Dhabi's rapid development and urbanisation, coupled with the relatively high average income of its population, has transformed the city into a large and advanced metropolis. Today the city is the country's center of political and industrial activities, and a major cultural and commercial centre, due to its position as the capital. Abu Dhabi accounts for about two-thirds of the roughly $400-billion United Arab Emirates economy.
Capital may refer to:
A city is a large and permanent human settlement. Although there is no agreement on how a city is distinguished from a town in general English language meanings, many cities have a particular administrative, legal, or historical status based on local law.
Cities generally have complex systems for sanitation, utilities, land usage, housing, and transportation. The concentration of development greatly facilitates interaction between people and businesses, benefiting both parties in the process, but it also presents challenges to managing urban growth.
A big city or metropolis usually has associated suburbs and exurbs. Such cities are usually associated with metropolitan areas and urban areas, creating numerous business commuters traveling to urban centers for employment. Once a city expands far enough to reach another city, this region can be deemed a conurbation or megalopolis. In terms of population, the largest city proper is Shanghai, while the fastest-growing is Dubai.
There is not enough evidence to assert what conditions gave rise to the first cities. Some theorists have speculated on what they consider suitable pre-conditions and basic mechanisms that might have been important driving forces.

Deutsche Landeshauptstädte und Stadtstaaten. The 16 state capitals of Germany. Germany today.
Amman, the capital of Jordan, is a fascinating city of contrasts -- a unique blend of old and new, ideally situated on a hilly area between the desert and the fertile Jordan Valley. In the commercial heart of the city, ultra-modern buildings, hotels, smart restaurants, art galleries and boutiques rub shoulders comfortably with traditional coffee shops and tiny artisans' workshops. Everywhere there is evidence of the city's much older past. Due to the city's modern-day prosperity and temperate climate, almost half of Jordan's population is concentrated in the Amman area. The residential suburbs consist of mainly tree-lined streets and avenues flanked by elegant, almost uniformly white houses in accordance with a municipal law, which states that all buildings must be faced with local stone. ...

Created by Eirik Evjen Play in HD! and remember to play it with the music. Norway has recently reached 5 million inhabitants and the capital is growing rapidly. The city scene in Oslo is steadily thickening with taller buildings, more people and the never-ending construction sites. Being by far the most populated city in Norway with 613 000 inhabitants, most Norwegians look to Oslo as a major capital. However, if one compares Oslo to other international capitals, Oslo only ranks as the 112th largest. Oslo is indeed a major capital, just a small one… The production of this video was made out of 76 940 single photos, edited as a video after a lot of work. The video was filmed under the warmest march month ever in Oslo. I have never been on so many rooftops as I had the week I filmed this, ...
The video about the bustling capital of Jordan is the first in a series of four time-lapse movies about Jordan and it's main sites. Rendered and edited in After Effects, Motion and Final Cut Pro X. Music: «The Orion Code», Delicate Beats, with a license of premiumbeat.com

Kinetic Edinburgh III (Festival City in Motion) is the latest edition to the series of short films showcasing Scotland's beautiful capital city. The idea behind the film is to not capture the Edinburgh International festival itself, but to capture the atmosphere of the city during the Festival: the streets, buildings and parks. There are some amazing views of Arthur's Seat (very rare and difficult to capture with photography), Edinburgh's beautiful streets and the majestic firework finale to the International Edinburgh Festival. Altogether it took six solid weeks to film and 10,000 static photographs made it to the final edit. All legal rights retained and owned by Salhab Films. The future of the capital lies in its ability to evolve, to adapt, to set the wheels in motion. Hence the design for the Taipei City logo is a reflection on a capital whose vision of its future is still taking shape. The logo takes the form of an imperfect circle, a derivative of the WDC logo, with design elements in the state of reaching the final form. Three themed logos addressing on the ways the city can go forward are titled “Engaging the Community ”, “Connecting...

good to see you" is also spoken.)
Homer: Well, kids, there it is! Capital City!
Marge: Look, the Cross-Town Bridge!
(begin vamp)
Bart: Wow!
Homer: Wow.
Tony Bennett: There's a swingin' town I know called... Capital
City.
Lisa: The Penny Loafer!
Tony: People stop and scream hello in... Capital City.
Homer: Kids, look! Street crime!
Tony: It's the kind of place that makes a bum feel like
a king.
Homer: Wow, that's service!
Tony: And it makes a king feel like some nutty, cuckoo,
super-king.
Marge: Look, it's Tony Bennett!
Tony: Hey, good to see you.
It's against the law to frown in... Capital City.
You'll caper like a stupid clown when you chance

Marge: Fourth Street and 'D'!
Tony: Fourth Street and 'D'! Yeah!
Once you get a whiff of it, you'll never want to roam.
Homer: The Duff brewery!
Tony: Capital City, my home sweet, yeah!
Capital City, that happy-tal city,
It's Capital City,
my home sweet swingin' home!
All: Capital City! Yeah!
Closing credits version:
Tony Bennett: There's a swingin' town I know called... Capital City.
People stop and scream hello in... Capital City.
It's the kind of place that makes a bum feel like a king.
And it makes a king feel like some nutty, cuckoo,
super-king.
It's against the law to frown in... Capital City.
You'll caper like a stupid clown when you chance to see...
Fourth Street and 'D'! Yeah!
Once you get a whiff of it, you'll never want to roam,
From Capital City, my home sweet, swingin' home!
