Samuel Cook (January 22, 1931 – December 11, 1964), known professionally as Sam Cooke, was an American singer, songwriter, and entrepreneur.
Influential as both a singer and composer, he is commonly known as the King of Soul for his distinctive vocals and importance within popular music. His pioneering contributions to soul music contributed to the rise of Aretha Franklin, Bobby Womack, Al Green, Curtis Mayfield, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, and Billy Preston, and popularized the likes of Otis Redding and James Brown.AllMusic biographer Bruce Eder wrote that Cooke was "the inventor of soul music", and possessed "an incredible natural singing voice and a smooth, effortless delivery that has never been surpassed".
Cooke had 30 U.S. top 40 hits between 1957 and 1964, plus three more posthumously. Major hits like "You Send Me", "A Change Is Gonna Come", "Cupid", "Chain Gang", "Wonderful World", and "Twistin' the Night Away" are some of his most popular songs. Cooke was also among the first modern black performers and composers to attend to the business side of his musical career. He founded both a record label and a publishing company as an extension of his careers as a singer and composer. He also took an active part in the civil rights movement.
"A Change Is Gonna Come" is a song by American recording artist Sam Cooke, released on December 22, 1964 by RCA Victor. Produced by Hugo & Luigi and arranged and conducted by René Hall, the song was the B-side to "Shake". The song concerns African-Americans and contains the refrain, "It's been a long time coming, but I know a change is gonna come." The song was inspired by various personal events in Cooke's life, most prominently an event in which he and his entourage were turned away from a whites only motel in Louisiana. Cooke felt compelled to write a song that spoke to his struggle and of those around him, and he recorded the song for its first release on his final album, Ain't That Good News.
Though only a modest hit for Cooke in comparison with his previous singles, "A Change Is Gonna Come" became an anthem for the American Civil Rights Movement. The song is widely considered Cooke's best composition and has been voted among the best songs ever released by various publications. In 2007, the song was selected for preservation in the Library of Congress, with the National Recording Registry deeming the song "culturally, historically, or aesthetically important."

"The Only" is the first single from the industrial metal band's Static-X's third album, Shadow Zone.
The song is featured in Need for Speed: Underground, and on the PC version of the game True Crime: Streets of LA, and in the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards as a background music for an announcer's speech. In Need for Speed Underground, the words "my heaven, your hell" have been replaced by "I'm winning, you're losing".
The video was directed by P. R. Brown and features the band facing the walls of a small room with the camera orbiting around them. The walls are lifted by the end of the video revealing a crowd of fans around the room's floor.
The song was declared to have the band's the number one music video from Billboard magazine in 2014.

We've both agreed that 'gay paris' is sometimes relevant but that neither of us would ever say it. White leather interiors and aqua exteriors up on the cliffs above the ocean, it's a convertible and that's even okay, 'Danny Boy' is playing now and that's even okay cause Sam Cooke is singing it. You could even throw your hands up or let some kind of long scarf out into the breeze and I wouldn't hate you for it. My shirt's open to the world and I don't hate myself fo...

Sam Cooke was quite simply put, "The Man Who Invented Soul". His voice, phrasing and style would go on to influence a generation of singers in the genres of rock, pop and soul. His influence is evident when listening to artists/fans from the likes of Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding to Rod Stewart, Terence Trent D'arby and Guy Sebastian. This was an exquisite recording from Sam Cooke Live at the Copa performing a medley of songs, namely Try a Little Tenderness, (I Love You) For Sentimental Reasons and You Send Me. I would also highly recommend listening to Sam's gospel music from the Soul Stirrers era. His first five gospel recordings define soul music as we know it today. Buddy you're a boy
Make a big noise
Playing in the street
Gonna be a big man someday
You got mud on your face
Big disgrace
Kicking your can all over the place
Singing we will, we will rock you
We will, we will rock you
Buddy you're a young man
Hard man
Shouting in the street
Gonna take on the world someday
You got blood on your face
Big disgrace
Waving your banner all over the place
Singing we will, we will rock you
We will, we will rock you
Buddy you're an old man
Poor man
Pleading with your eyes
Gonna make you some peace someday
You got mud on your face
Big disgrace
Somebody better put you back into your place
Singing we will, we will rock you
We will, we will rock you
We will, we will rock you
We will, we will rock you
