Bloomington IL Churches and Temples Aback, More Bar Patron Damage To Downtown Businesses
This video shows despite stepped up police presence in the downtown bar district, a downtown business has its third metal facade panel literally ripped off the face of the building by downtown bar patrons in as many years. This happened withing five minutes of police on foot patrol in the downtown and two minutes later a drive by patrol. What would appear to be a targeted effort, a fourth panel has been vandalized in an effort to pry it lose as well. You can see the time lapse of damage by bar patrons as well as just some of the actual vandalism caught on video. And the CIty Council just does not get it. How do you keep your downtown businesses when they are constantly being vandalized by downtown bar patrons, even with increased police presence? And how do they expect to attract new businesses and investors willing to put up with this kind of behavior virtually every weekend? LOL. The downtown bars are making money, the City can recoup its policing costs by writing citations for violations, but who is making the downtown businesses being vandalized whole? Who is paying for the cost of subsidizing all of this "no bar left behind" policy. Unfortunately, its all out of the pockets of the downtown business owners affected and their insurance companies.- published: 10 Sep 2013

Bloomington IL Churches and Temples Aback Police Socialize While Bar Patron Trespasses
Here we go again, back to the policing like when Stockton was still Mayor, police having to spend more time in front of the bars after a local TV station aired video taken of six bar patrons beating another bar patron unconscious and leaving them lying in the middle of a business downtown intersection. So, we have police back to socializing in front of the bars, while other bar patrons take the opportunity to go well out of their way to trespass and possibly urinate on downtown properties. So the bar patrons get protected at taxpayers expense, while downtown businesses and residents get vandalized. Why is the City spending such a level of public monies on protecting a handful of bars while the rest of the downtown is damaged and vandalized? Why is it these few businesses merit this level of subsidy, while everyone else is damaged and expected to suck it up and claim it on their insurance and pay the deductable out of their pockets, just so a handful of bar owners can make more money? Every weekend.- published: 22 Nov 2013

Bloomington IL Churches and Temples Aback Police Ignore Bar Patron Parking Violation
Bloomington IL Churches and Temples Aback Police Ignore Bar Patron Parking Violation
This a prime example of why the integrity of the Bloomington IL police is seriously questioned when it comes to law enforcement in the downtown bar district. A downtown bar patron must really have the mojo with the police, for this bar patron parked for over two hours straight in a party bus tow zone in front of this bar while four different police patrols drove right past it with no ticket and no tow. Then two police officers walked right ip to where the car was parked, ignored it, went over to socialize with the bar doormen, then walked back right by the car still in violation and did nothing. And when you see these things combined with the fact that in 2012 police performed over 1340 "bar checks" for underage drinkers and only caught 7 violators all year. How can this be if they are doing their jobs? When over 40% of underaged college students admit to using fake IDs to go into bars nationally to illegally drink. And is Bloomington any different? No. So how come such low success despite some many checks. Blind in one eye and cannot see out the other one? More see no evil, hear no evil, prevent no evil? The enforcement is a complete sham and a farce as you can plainly see.- published: 28 Sep 2013

Bloomington IL Churches and Temples Aback Downtown Bar Patron Allegedly Steals Business Sign
This videos shows a trespasser climbing on to a downtown business property and then allegedly steals a metal "private property" sign from the fire escape of the building. One can see the alleged thief jumping down off the loading dock with what appears to be the sign, and then tries to stuff the sign up the back of his shirt as he makes his way back across the street to board a party bus. This the constant vandalism many downtown business owners complain to the City about, and this is still happening despite increased police presence. Which seems to have little or no deterrent effect, as this video shows. And the only ones benefitting from this extraordinary municipal expense is the bar owners, everyone else is still being constantly vandalised. And City Council still worries about attracting and retaining businesses? As long as the City is indirectly supporting all of this party bussing and unlimited serving of bar patrons, fat chance. So, many business owners have said they would abandon the downtown if they could afford to as long as all of the bar patron vandalism remains unaddressed.- published: 05 Oct 2013

Bloomington IL Churches And Temples Aback Bloomington Citizens Elect New Mayor, But Little Changes
The Bloomington IL electorate voted in a new mayor with a brand new opportunity to clean up much of the over-serving, property damage, vandalism, public urination, fights and litter in the downtown bar district. And many voters hopes where high that change would come. But here it is four months later, and it is still looking like business as usual with the same old game plan from the previous administration in full play. City council is worried about business investment, businesses leaving the downtown, but yet, they still follow the same old failed plan, which has led to the same failed results. Look at uptown Normal and then look at downtown Bloomington, and it does not take a rocket science degree to see plan seems to be working and which one gets a failing grade.- published: 08 Aug 2013

Bloomington IL Churches and Temples Aback Police Ignore More Blatant Alleged SFIA Violators Downtown
Here is another weekend, more police socializing while downtown bar patrons allegedly violate the Smoke Free Illinois Act outside a downtown bar, and basically do nothing, no warning, no citation, just let them allegedly openly break the law. Yet, Bloomington taxpayers are paying dearly for law enforcement, and failure to enforce the laws in the downtown just costs the taxpayers that much more. And many people are starting to ask how come just a handful of bars get this level of municipal subsidy via police protection, while no other businesses get this level of public support? So, why is the City continuing to pour good money after bad, chasing businesses away due to bar patron vandalism, just so a handful of bars can make more money? Its costing Bloomington taxpayers more, as the bars do not earn enough tax revenue to cover the costs of the policing downtown and damage repairs just for the City, these figures do not even come close to covering the damages to private property owners and their insurance deductibles and insurance costs. So, why is this policy still pursued?- published: 22 Nov 2013
