The next stop in our tour with Budweiser lands in Hanoi, the hub for Vietnam's burgeoning techno scene. To celebrate their community, we're bringing over two of electronic music's most influential pioneers for a world exclusive: Juan Atkins and The Egyptian Lover, together on screen for the first time ever.
To support the occasion, we've got three of Vietnam's most dedicated music activists to flank: Quan, one of the country's most respected hardware experimentalists; Hibiya Line, owner & resident of Ho Chi Minh City's best club in The Observatory; & Agatha, resident at Savage – one of our favourite clubs in Hanoi.

JW Marriott was the hotel that US President Obama stayed in when he visited Hanoi in May 2016. We stay for a few nights at the JW Marriott in Hanoi, Vietnam, in a Clubroom. Just a quick short getaway from Singapore. The JW Marriott hotel in Hanoi was beautiful, and the experience made even better because we stayed in a Club room. Check out the room we had, number 647, which was just a few steps away from the Executive Lounge, making it very easy to get food and drink. We asked, and got a room with 2 double-beds. We informed the hotel beforehand that we were going as a family, with 2 adults and 2 kids. As both kids were under 12, the hotel kindly waived the 3rd & 4th person charge for the room. We contacted the hotel via email beforehand and all this was nicely settled for us. This video shows you the room. More coming up to show you our lounge experience, which was very awesome.

This penthouse Apartment was located just above the top end of The Old Quarter in Hanoi. We walked everywhere, no transport required.
It has 2x bedrooms on lower level, both with ensuite.
Living area on the upper level with another half bathroom. It has a big flat screen TV, dining table, small but full kitchen as well as the washer/dryer built into the kitchen also.
For two travellers, it worked out $63.50AU each per night.

Hanoi (/hæˈnɔɪ/ or US /həˈnɔɪ/; Vietnamese: Hà Nội [ha˨˩ nɔj˩]) is the capital of Vietnam and the country's second largest city. Its population in 2009 was estimated at 2.6 million for urban districts and 7 million for the metropolitan jurisdiction. The number of population in 2015 was estimated at 7.7 million people. From 1010 until 1802, it was the most important political centre of Vietnam. It was eclipsed by Huế, the imperial capital of Vietnam during the Nguyễn Dynasty (1802–1945), but Hanoi served as the capital of French Indochina from 1902 to 1954. From 1954 to 1976, it was the capital of North Vietnam, and it became the capital of a reunified Vietnam in 1976, after the North's victory in the Vietnam War.
The city lies on the right bank of the Red River. Hanoi is 1,760 km (1,090 mi) north of Ho Chi Minh City and 120 km (75 mi) west of Hai Phong city.
October 2010 officially marked 1000 years since the establishment of the city. The Hanoi Ceramic Mosaic Mural is a 4 km ceramic mosaic mural created to mark the occasion.

Room
A room is any distinguishable space within a structure. Usually, a room is separated from other spaces or passageways by interior walls; moreover, it is separated from outdoor areas by an exterior wall, sometimes with a door. Historically the use of rooms dates at least to early Minoan cultures about 2200 BC, where excavations on Santorini, Greece at Akrotiri reveal clearly defined rooms within certain structures.
Historical room types
In early structures, diverse room types could be identified to include bedrooms, kitchens, bathing rooms, reception rooms, and other specialized uses. The aforementioned Akrotiri excavations reveal rooms sometimes built above other rooms connected by staircases, bathrooms with alabaster appliances such as washbasins, bathing tubs, and toilets, all connected to an elaborate twin plumbing systems of ceramic pipes for cold and hot water separately. Ancient Rome manifested very complex building forms with a variety of room types, including some of the earliest examples of rooms for indoor bathing. The Anasazi civilization also had an early complex development of room structures, probably the oldest in North America, while the Maya of Central America had very advanced room configurations as early as several hundred AD. By at least the early Han Dynasty in China (e.g. approximately 200 BC),comfort room complex multi-level building forms emerged, particularly for religious and public purposes; these designs featured many roomed structures and included vertical connections of rooms.

Hoàn Kiếm District
Hoàn Kiếm is an urban district (quận) of Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam, named after the scenic Hoàn Kiếm Lake.
Hoàn Kiếm District is the downtown and commercial center of Hanoi. Most of the largest Vietnamese public corporations and bank headquarters are located here, but the central government offices are located in Ba Đình District (sometimes called the French quarter). The Hanoi City Committee is located on Dinh Tien Hoang street, adjacent to the Hoan Kiem lake.
Many of Hanoi's tourist attractions are located here, including: The Old Quarter, Hanoi Opera House, National Museum of Vietnamese History, and the Thang Long Water Puppet Theatre.

JW Marriott was the hotel that US President Obama stayed in when he visited Hanoi in May 2016. We stay for a few nights at the JW Marriott in Hanoi, Vietnam, in a Clubroom. Just a quick short getaway from Singapore. The JW Marriott hotel in Hanoi was beautiful, and the experience made even better because we stayed in a Club room. Check out the room we had, number 647, which was just a few steps away from the Executive Lounge, making it very easy to get food and drink. We asked, and got a room with 2 double-beds. We informed the hotel beforehand that we were going as a family, with 2 adults and 2 kids. As both kids were under 12, the hotel kindly waived the 3rd & 4th person charge for the room. We contacted the hotel via email beforehand and all this was nicely settled for us. This video shows you the room. More coming up to show you our lounge experience, which was very awesome.

Ha! [Pt. 2]
OK, here is the part 2 of "Ha!" travel video. As I've mentioned before, part 2 shows the magnificent landscape of Halong Bay, Vietnam. I embarked on this trip with a friend from Hanoi, for 3 days and 2 night, including one night overstay at Cat Ba Island. It was such a wonderful experience that I had, and the whole place is in stark contrast to Hanoi with its frenetic traffic, crowds and noise. Our best travel companion was a couple (newly-wed apparently) from Spain and of course, the friendly guide. They're credited at the end of the video. There were 2 young couple from England and Italy, 4 American travelers and an elderly Indonesian couple. Despite a minor incident during one of the activities, we wrapped the whole trip and safely back to Hanoi where we continued to our own destination...

North Vietnam by Motorbike
Made from clips taken while motorbike touring through North Vietnam. Clips are in sequence: starting in Hanoi, touring ~2000 km through many northern provinces including Ha Giang, and returning to Hanoi. Most of the video is (or was) 720p and filmed from a point and shoot camera that I strapped on my handlebar or wrist, cinched around my neck, or taped and tied to my helmet (a process of trial and error, and some footage is a bit shaky - I should have bought a proper helmet cam). Some of the early clips are standard definition and were filmed before I smashed my first camera in a spill. The trip was organized through Offroad Vietnam, an awesome company based in Hanoi. Hanoi is North Vietnam’s lively capital city located in the north of the country and set amid the delta plains of the Red River. Compared to other southeast Asian cities that have developed into modern metropolis’ at breathtaking speed, Hanoi could be described as being a provincial city.In 1882 the French built their government offices around the city’s large Ho Hoan Kiem Lake. The city became the capital of French Indo China. The lake is surrounded by splendid old villas and public buildings. In the early morning several of the city’s inhabitants arrive to go about their traditional exercises. The Chua Mot Cot Pagoda is one of the oldest religious buildings in Hanoi, a temple built upon a single column in the centre of a small pond. Legend has it that the childless king, Ly Thai To, saw the goddess of mercy in a dream in which she presented him with a son. Soon afterwards an heir to the throne was born and thus the king ordered the construction of this pagoda and the future of the dynasty was assured. Den Dao Quan is one of the most beautiful Taoist temples in Vietnam and is located close to the national library south east of the Temple Of Literature. Inaugurated in 1993, the Thang Long Water Puppet Theatre is one of the finest examples of its kind in Vietnam and is so popular that its twice daily performances are completely sold out. Den Quan Than is the richly adorned Temple Of The Great God that dates back to the 11th century and is dedicated to the Vietnamese god of war. Than Vu, who is also the patron saint of the north, has guarded the city for thousands of years. His temple is located on the banks of Lake West. Over the centuries Hanoi has frequently been conquered, lost its status as a capital city and also changed its name several times. But it has survived and is still full of timeless charm. It is most assuredly the pearl of North Vietnam!

Traveling Vietnam: Hanoi to Halong Bay.
Hey guys! Today we're taking you with us to Halong Bay. This is our last stop in Vietnam, before flying back to Bangkok and preparing for the next adventure... India.
This was our first time exploring Halong Bay, I imagine many years ago it was a pristine wonder of the world. The limestone cliffs rising out of the emerald waters are awe-inspiring. Unfortunately the breathtakingly beautiful waterscape has been tainted, with trash... lots of it. Some areas were cleaner than others, the area we kayaked through was especially gorgeous. Ti Top island had a nice viewpoint, however, the beach itself was over crowded, and while there were many people swimming there, we opted to skip the swimming. One of highlights of the trip was exploring the cave.
While it was worth experiencing Halong Bay, it was our first and last time. Thanks for coming on the adventure with us!

Leaving your backpack at a hotel storage space or luggage space because you're going to take a trekking tour.
Leaving your valuables unattended while you're searching for money to buy a drink I'm going to leave a link here.

Counterfeit agencies are companies cthat have a logo of reputable company on their store front.
However, in no way affiliated with that company
they're just they're just trying to steal customers from a reputable company.
Usually you can tell because they're just so many of them do not very subtle.
You're going to have to listen to your intuition.
If something sounds wrong or weird then it is.
Avoid avoid..
Go to the places that feel like they're professional.
Where you feel like the people behind the desk are trustworthy.
You can't always go by the company logo or company designs yes signs me nothing in Vietnam.

OK, here is the part 2 of "Ha!" travel video. As I've mentioned before, part 2 shows the magnificent landscape of Halong Bay, Vietnam. I embarked on this trip with a friend from Hanoi, for 3 days and 2 night, including one night overstay at Cat Ba Island. It was such a wonderful experience that I had, and the whole place is in stark contrast to Hanoi with its frenetic traffic, crowds and noise. Our best travel companion was a couple (newly-wed apparently) from Spain and of course, the friendly guide. They're credited at the end of the video. There were 2 young couple from England and Italy, 4 American travelers and an elderly Indonesian couple. Despite a minor incident during one of the activities, we wrapped the whole trip and safely back to Hanoi where we continued to our own destinations.

Made from clips taken while motorbike touring through North Vietnam. Clips are in sequence: starting in Hanoi, touring ~2000 km through many northern provinces including Ha Giang, and returning to Hanoi.
Most of the video is (or was) 720p and filmed from a point and shoot camera that I strapped on my handlebar or wrist, cinched around my neck, or taped and tied to my helmet (a process of trial and error, and some footage is a bit shaky - I should have bought a proper helmet cam). Some of the early clips are standard definition and were filmed before I smashed my first camera in a spill.
The trip was organized through Offroad Vietnam, an awesome company based in Hanoi. A guide isn't necessary but a good idea in the northern provinces unless you speak Vietnamese (serves as a riding buddy, gps, mechanic, translator, tourist guide, travel agent, etc.).

In February 2011, three 1969 West Point grads returned to Vietnam for a 2 week spectacular trip with their wives. Having served there over 40 years ago, this was a unique adventure with a private guide named Quynh ("Quinn"). This was also a special bucket list trip for John Rountree who has Lou Gehrig's disease or ALS. This video shows a few of the highlights that were pulled from over 1400 photographs. JW Marriott was the hotel that US President Obama stayed in when he visited Hanoi in May 2016. We stay for a few nights at the JW Marriott in Hanoi, Vietnam, in a Clubroom. Just a quick short getaway from Singapore. The JW Marriott hotel in Hanoi was beautiful, and the experience made even better because we stayed in a Club room. Check out the room we had, number 647, which was just a few steps away from the Executive Lounge, making it very easy to get food and drink. We asked, and got a room with 2 double-beds. We informed the hotel beforehand that we were going as a family, with 2 adults and 2 kids. As both kids were under 12, the hotel kindly waived the 3rd & 4th person charge for the room. JW Marriott was the hotel that US President Obama stayed in when he visited Hanoi in May 2016. We stay for a few nights at the JW Marriott in Hanoi, Vietnam, in a Clubroom. Just a quick short getaway from Singapore. The JW Marriott hotel in Hanoi was beautiful, and the experience made even better because we stayed in a Club room. Check out the room we had, number 647, which was just a few steps away from the Executive Lounge, making it very easy to get food and drink. We asked, and got a room with 2 double-beds. We informed the hotel beforehand that we were going as a family, with 2 adults and 2 kids. As both kids were under 12, the hotel kindly waived the 3rd & 4th person charge for the room. We contacted the hotel via email beforehand and all this was nicely settled for us. This video shows you the room. More coming up to show you our lounge experience, which was very awesome.

The photographer makes portraits. The photographer leaves the studio and the subject alone with the camera for some minutes. The photographer returns. The gentle shifts in awareness of the presence and absence of the photographer raise questions relating to the morality and the veracity of making images of people who both know they are being observed and are then unaware. Which is the true record? Is the photographer necessary - or even an impediment - to the act of photography?
The film was produced during an open studio project at Japan Foundation, Hanoi through the Skylines With Flying People art initiative - http://swfp.org/s/ - curated by artist Nguyen Phuong Linh and architect Tsuneo Noda in December 2012. A garage was turned into a temporary media lab that Nguyen Trinh Thi and I made into an ad hoc photo studio and screening room. Members of the general public, the other artists, our family, and numerous other visitors to the space participated in producing a photographic portrait and this session was simultaneously recorded on film. This is the result.
Exhibition Guidelines: this film can be screened in numerous ways in a museum or gallery setting.
1) The first and most desired option is to be projected near to or slightly larger than life size onto a white wall with the bottom edge of the projection meeting exactly the corner between the floor and the wall. The projector should be mounted vertically so that the 16:9 aspect ratio actually become 9:16 and the people stand vertically within the vertical frame (unlike this online version). A media player with the large uncompressed media file should be connected to the projector for full HD appreciation of the image. No DVD projection. Separate speakers for audio and seating for a small number (4-8) of people within a discrete space.
2) The second preferred option is to play the film on a vertically mounted, free-standing LCD (or plasma) screen 40" or larger again with the vertical media file (unlike this online version) so the people fit within the vertical frame. On a wall several feet behind, adjacent to, or opposite the monitor may be mounted in a grid formation the 110 printed portraits also produced in conjunction with this project of which the 56 people within the film are also seen in the order the portraits were produced. These can be either A2 or A3 in size. Image on monitor is played from a large media file only, via media player, and with external good quality speakers. This may be viewed in a more public setting than above and in conjunction with other artworks. Several seats are ideally provided.

The projector should be mounted vertically so that the 16:9 aspect ratio actually become 9:16 and the people stand vertically within the vertical frame (unlike this online version). A media player with the large uncompressed media file should be connected to the projector for full HD appreciation of the image. No DVD projection. Separate speakers for audio and seating for a small number (4-8) of people within a discrete space.
2) The second preferred option is to play the film on a vertically mounted, free-standing LCD (or plasma) screen 40" or larger again with the vertical media file (unlike this online version) so the people fit within the vertical frame. On a wall several feet behind, adjacent to, or opposite the monitor may be mounted in a grid formation the 110 printed portraits also produced in conjunction with this project of which the 56 people within the film are also seen in the order the portraits were produced. These can be either A2 or A3 in size. Image on monitor is played from a large media file only, via media player, and with external good quality speakers. This may be viewed in a more public setting than above and in conjunction with other artworks. Several seats are ideally provided.
