Sukhdev Thapar (15 May 1907 – 23 March 1931) was an Indian revolutionary, born in Ludhiana, Punjab, British India.
Sukhdev Thapar was a member of the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association (HSRA), and organised revolutionary cells in Punjab and other areas of North India. He also taught at the National College in Lahore, where he and other revolutionaries also established the Naujawan Bharat Sabha, an organisation involved in various activities intended mainly to prepare youths for the struggle for independence and putting an end to communalism.
Sukhdev is best remembered for his involvement in the Lahore Conspiracy Case of 18 December 1928 and its aftermath. He was an accomplice of Bhagat Singh, and Shivaram Rajguru, whose conspiracy led to the assassination of Deputy Superintendent of Police, J. P. Saunders in 1928 in response to the violent death of a veteran leader, Lala Lajpat Rai. After the Central Assembly Hall bombings in New Delhi on 8 April 1929, the conspirators were arrested and convicted of their crime.

Plot: Bhagat was born in British India during the year 1908. As a child he witnessed numerous atrocities committed on fellow Indians by their British rulers, who came to trade under the guise of the East India Company, but ended up controlling most of the nation, and permitting tyrants such as General Dyer to massacre thousands of innocent men, women and children in Jallianwala Baug. As a child he was impressed by Mohandas K. Gandhi, especially his call to launch the non-cooperation movement, which led to thousands of people burning British-made clothing, giving up schools, & college studies, and government jobs - only to be let down by Gandhi himself when he called off the movement. Undaunted, Bhagat decided to be a revolutionary, starting with getting into petty fights, then as a grown-up joining the Hindustan Republic Association. When Lala Lajpat Rai was beaten to death by the police, Bhagat, along with Shivram Rajguru, Sukhdev, and others daringly carried out the assassination of a police officer named Saunders, which eventually led to Bhagat's arrest, where he was lodged in a cell, tortured and beaten mercilessly. His father, Kishan, paid Rs.60,000/- and bailed him out, so that he could get him to run a diary-farm and get married to a girl from Manavali. But being a revolutionary was in Bhagat's blood, and when the British proposed the Trade Disputes and Public Safety Bills, he would initiate the bombing in the Indian Parliament Building, along with Batukeshwar Dutt, be arrested, and tried in an open court. This is where Bhagat launched his much-publicized revolution, and became popular with the masses, especially the younger generation, laborers, and farmers, so much so that his popularity rivaled that of Gandhi himself. Even in prison, Bhagat made headline news when he and other prisoners undertook a 63 day fast unto death to improve the conditions of Indian freedom-fighter prisoners. Then the British re-opened the Saunders' murder case, which led to death sentences being imposed on Bhagat, Shivram, and Sukhdev. The entire nation rose up in protest, including the Congress party - with the ball being in Gandhi's court - for he was due to sign the Irwing Pact, and Indians hoped that he would use this as a bargaining chip to save the lives of the heroic trio. Will Gandhi rise up to the occasion and save the trio - so that they could pave the way for a modern and independent India, not just a country ruled by the British with a dominant status - an India free of communal hatred, injustice, corruption, and fundamentalism, or will Gandhi end up disappointing Bhagat all over again?

Plot: It is the year 1857 in India, a year that Sardar Ajit Singh, his wife, their children, including son, Bhagat, and their parents will never forget, for it was the day his brother, Kishan, sang out against the British, was arrested, escaped from prison, & has never been heard of again. This does have an impact on young Bhagat Singh's mind, so much so that when he grows up he joins the freedom fighting movement, being headed by Chandrashekar Azad. It is then that an unarmed freedom fighter, protesting the Simon Commission, is killed by Police. Bhagat, Chandrashekar, Shivram Rajguru, Sukhdev, and Jaygopal avenge this death by killing the Assistant of Commissioner Saunders. When a major police hunt is announced, they flee, especially Bhagat, as he has been identified as the Sikh with the turban. Bhagat takes off his turban, shaves off his beard, and continues to be active in the freedom movement. A historical meeting at Tughlak Fort is organized and all freedom fighters from every corner of India are invited so as to consolidate their efforts to force the British to leave India. Then the British decide to implement the Public Safety Bill, which Bhagat and Bhatukeshwar Dutta protest against, in a first-ever scene shot in Parliament House in Delhi, where they explode a bomb, and shout slogans of "Inquilaab Zindabad". They are arrested, charged, and produced before the Courts. A charade of lies follows, and even after the truth surfaces, the two are sentenced to life in prison. Then things take a turn for the worse when Jaygopal becomes a Police informer, leading the police to arrest Sukhdev, Shivram, and also re-arrest Bhagat for their hand in killing Saunder's Assistant, and this time the British are not looking at any life imprisonment sentence - they want to publicly hang the three stalwarts!! Contrary to the well-known fair-mindedness of the British (Not good Cricket, you know), a trial takes place in total absentia, in secret, where even the defendants are not permitted to take part, and it is shortly thereafter on October 7, 1930 that our three heroes are sentenced to be hanged. The day of their deaths is scheduled to be March 24, 1931, but due to crowd unrest, the British decide to by-pass the Court's orders and hang the trio on March 23, 1931. Watch what happens when the news hits the prison and the impact this has on the trio, the rest of the prisoners, & their respective families'.

Maybe i've been waiting for you to show
me theres a dreamer like you thats
waiting to
Not afraid to lose.
And maybe i've been holding on to all the
little wrecks I've gone through.
Learning last, I fall too fast.
But I
I don't want to parachute into love
No, I wanna skydive.
And fall until we fly
Live until we die together.
If heaven is my home
You can only make it better
Don't wanna wait another day
No, I want you now forever.
Don't wanna parachute into love.
Seen a million faces
Finally, one of them erases every wound
I wear
And leaves me bare.
But I
I don't want to parachute into love
No, I wanna skydive
And fall until we fly
Live until we die together
If heaven is my home
You can only make it better
Don't wanna wait another day
No, I want you now forever.
Don't wanna parachute into love
I wanna skydive, I wanna sky dive.
