Mem

Mem (also spelled Meem or Mim) is the thirteenth letter of the Semitic abjads, including Phoenician Mēm , Hebrew Mēm מ, Aramaic Mem , Syriac Mīm ܡܡ, and Arabic Mīm م. Its value is [m].

The Phoenician letter gave rise to the Greek Mu (Μ), Etruscan , Latin M, and Cyrillic М.

Origins

Mem is believed to derive from the Egyptian hieroglyphic symbol for water,

which had been simplified by the Phoenicians and named after their word for water, mem (), ultimately coming from Proto-Semitic *maʾ-/*may-.

Variations on written form/pronunciation

In Hebrew, Mem, like Kaph, Nun, Pe, and Tzadi, has a final form, used at the end of words: its shape changes from מ to ם.

Significance

In gematria, Mem represents the number 40 in both the Standard and Mispar Gadol Methods of Gematria; However, (mem sofit) final mem's value is 40 in the Standard Method and 600 in the Mispar Gadol method. The Standard Method adds the values of Tav and Resh (400+200) to denote the value of mem sofit.

Svjat Dreams 1762–1991

Svjat Dreams 1762–1991, known by fans as simply Svjat Dreams, was released on 7 September 1991, and is the 2nd studio album to be released by the group Mizar. It was the last album by the group before they broke up in 1992, but they reformed in 2003.

In 2003, this album and the debut LP were remastered and reissued on Lithium Records with bonus tracks.

On the iTunes release, the album is actually the tracks of the previous album with the tags and album art of this one.

The album was actually released on two labels. It was released on vinyl and cassette by Amarkord, a vanity label set up by Mizar to self-publish the release. The Amarkord vinyl was pressed up by Jugoton. Since Mizar's contract with Helidon had not ended at the time of release, they released the album on cassette (although the cassette had a different cover to the Amarkord one: the Amarkord cassette is just the LP cover sandwiched between two grey-white bars, while the Helidon tape's artwork is just the original artwork reformatted for cassette) and CD. Helidon releases also did not have the red ribbon that the Amarkord vinyl came with. The Mizar logo on Helidon releases was also red instead of black, However, when the album was repackaged and reissued by Lithium in 2003, the ribbon was integrated into the CD artwork. The Helidon release is preferred among audiophiles for its high dynamic range.
