The Central Highlands is a region of Victoria. This term is mainly used in a geological context to describe the part of the Great Dividing Range in Victoria that is outside of the Alpine areas. The area is situated east of Ballarat, south of Bendigo, north and east of Melbourne, west of the Alpine areas and includes the Great Dividing Range. Major towns of the highlands include Castlemaine, Creswick, Daylesford, Gisborne, Kyneton and Woodend. All these towns are located in the western part of the Central Highlands usually referred to as the West Central Highlands. The eastern part of the Central Highlands referred to as the East Central Highlands also contains areas of rainforest.
The East Victorian Central Highlands, including Melbourne's forested water catchments, contain cool temperate rainforests; dominated by myrtle beech and southern sassafras, with an understorey of ferns and mosses. They may also contain eucalypt trees and blackwood.
Central Highlands is the name for several mountainous regions located in the center of the nations or geographical regions.
Sri Lanka (/sriːˈlɑːŋkə, -ˈlæŋkə/ or i/ʃriː-/;Sinhalese - ශ්රී ලංකාව, Tamil Ilaṅkai), officially the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and known from the beginning of British colonial rule until 1972 as Ceylon (/sᵻˈlɒnˌ seɪ-ˌ siː-/), is an island country in South Asia near south-east India.
Sri Lanka has maritime borders with India to the northwest and the Maldives to the southwest. Its documented history spans 3,000 years, with evidence of pre-historic human settlements dating back to at least 125,000 years. Its geographic location and deep harbours made it of great strategic importance from the time of the ancient Silk Road through to World War II.
A diverse and multicultural country, Sri Lanka is home to many religions, ethnic groups, and languages. In addition to the majority Sinhalese, it is home to large groups of Sri Lankan and Indian Tamils, Moors, Burghers, Malays, Kaffirs and the aboriginal Vedda. Sri Lanka has a rich Buddhist heritage, and the first known Buddhist writings of Sri Lanka, the Pāli Canon, dates back to the Fourth Buddhist council in 29 BC. The country's recent history has been marred by a thirty-year civil war which decisively ended when Sri Lankan military defeated Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam in 2009.
The term highland or uplands is used to denote any mountainous region or elevated mountainous plateau. Generally speaking, upland (or uplands) tends to refer to ranges of hills, typically up to 500-600 m. Highland (or highlands) is usually reserved for ranges of low mountains.
Probably the most known highlands in the anglophone world are the Scottish Highlands in the United Kingdom, the mountainous region north and west of the Highland Boundary Fault. The Highland council area is a local government area in the Scottish Highlands and Britain's largest local government area.
Many countries have areas that are officially or unofficially referred to as highlands. Other than Scotland, these include parts Ethiopia, Kenya, Eritrea, Yemen, Nigeria, Papua New Guinea, Syria, Cantabria and Nova Scotia (the latter being Latin for 'New Scotland' due to its resemblance to the country).
Synonymous terms used in other countries include high country, used in New Zealand, New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania and Southern Queensland in Australia, and parts of the United States (notably Western North Carolina), and highveld, used in South Africa.
Central is an adjective usually referring to being in the center of some place or (mathematical) object.
Central may also refer to:

Included are views of a tunnel rat, sounds of a "Blue-eared" Barbet which is common in the jungles of Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, many areas of Southeast Asia and in other tropical jungles of the world. Mauritius in the Indian Ocean is know for its sparkling crystal and turquoise waters. The contrast of colours, cultures and tastes makes the island a location for an unforgettable holiday. Mauritius offers the opportunity to unparalleled luxury, a level of refinement that is ahead of many other other tropical holiday destinations. Mauritius was named after Dutch Prince Maurice Van Nassau. Mauritius' white beaches are protected by a coral reef barrier that encircles almost all of the coastline, with the exception of the southern end, where it falls away and where wilder waters and dramatic cliffs can be observed. From the northern plains, the land rises to a central plateau dotted by lakes and extinct volcanic craters. A few uninhabited islets area are scattered around the main island. P...

This is the third video in my five days in Hong Kong series. Be sure to check out the other videos if you haven't. Follow Arthur on Instagram @DineWithArthur The morning started off well with some Goose Noodles at Yat Lok Barbeque Restaurant G/F, Block A, Po Wah Building, 5 Tai Ming Lane,, Tai Po. I highly recommend trying geese when you're in Hong Kong. It was similar to a duck, but hardier and meatier. After a quick visit to Statue Square, we boarded the Star Ferry and crossed the harbor to look at the over rated Victoria Light Show. Don't expect much! It might be beautiful, but the winds made it frigid and dull. Afterwards, we ate some really fine dining with some really unique dishes, such as ying yang chicken soup and squab at Chiuchow Garden Restaurant 2/F, Star House, 3 ...
Bristol, the largest city in South West England, is one of the most interesting cities in the UK. This city has an eclectic combination of architectural styles and is one of the most culturally vibrant towns in England. By locals Bristol is called Brizzle or Bristle. A good place to start exploring the city is the Castle Park with the ruins of St Peter’s Church and the ruins of Bristol Castle. This used to be a network of busy streets and shops until it was bombed during the second world war. In the Old Town there are plenty of interesting buildings from most of the architectural periods of the UK. In this neighborhood there also is the Queen Square, a garden with the Statue of William III. A short walk from there is the St Mary Radcliffe Church. Which has been a place of Christian w...

The Borneo Orchids Expedition focuses on visiting four locations to explore Borneo’s amazing diversity of orchids; the Bako National Park (home to lowland heathforest orchids), Mount Kinabalu (for highland and ultrahighland orchids), Mulu National Park (for lowland rainforest, limestone growing and highland orchids) and Mount Trus Madi (for spectacular mossy cloud forests dripping with highland orchids). Although orchids are central to this expedition, the itinerary is balanced with many of Borneo’s other wildlife highlights, including a plethora of carnivorous pitcher plants, proboscis monkeys, vast caves, canoe trips through lowland rainforest and, with luck, open Rafflesia and Amorphophallus blooms.

THE BATTLE OF IA DRANG VALLEY | Vietnam War Documentary 1965 - This film is about the First Cavalry Division in Vietnam. The Battle of Ia Drang was the first major battle between regulars of the United States Army and regulars of the People's Army of Vietnam (PAVN / NVA) of North Vietnam during the Vietnam War. The two-part battle took place between November 14 and November 18, 1965, at two landing zones (LZs) northwest of Plei Me in the Central Highlands of South Vietnam (approximately 35 miles south-west of Pleiku) as part of the U.S. airmobile offensive codenamed Operation Silver Bayonet.
