Lana Inglis travels to Ethiopia to join the Afar tribe and is overwhelmed by the amount of cultural differences, whilst members of the tribe are fascinated by her different appearance and mannerisms. Includes images of animal slaughter that some viewers may find distressing. Great short video from BBC show Tribal Wives. Part of a series. Six women give up their everyday lives and spend a month living with some of the world's most remote tribes, immersing themselves fully into their new culture. Each woman must work, eat and sleep exactly as the other tribal women.
The Afar Triangle is one of a few places places on earth where amid-ocean ridge can be studied on land. Geologists predict that the Afar triangle will be submerged forming a new sea.
[ENG] Afar means "the best" or "the first", making it a name that honours the extremely proud nature of this people. They live in a vast rocky, dry and desert-like land. This forces them to move about constantly, like the wind, in search of an element that is essential but very rare in the region where they live: water. Culema and Ali Mohamed are Afar that, like many others, live from the extraction and sale of salt from the Danakil vale -the second deepest in the planet and one of the hottest areas too. Sono and Momima are an Afar married couple that live in the Awash park. Sono learned to drive tractors and now works for an agricultural firm. [ESP] Sinopsis: Afar significa "el mejor" o "el primero", un nombre que hace honor al carácter extremadamente orgulloso de este pueblo. Viven en...

My first entry for a Vimeo weekend project ( 5x5 ). All scenes taken with the same lens, a 50 years old Soligor 400 mm, f:6.3 on my GH1, expressing the view on objects from different distances. Hope, everybody enjoys. Special thanks to my friend Tommy, who wrote the music spontaneously last night for this project. Additional notes on the "making of", for those who are interested: The first shot was actually the most difficult, I ever tried. This japanese bird, which is called "mejiro" ( white eyes ), is truly a mission impossible, because it is small, always quickly and randomly moving, never staying at the same place not even for a moment and it is shy, has excellent eyes and hates cameras. Catching it on film with a manual telephoto lens such big in frame is like trying to shoot a...

Through its endless repetitions, the city inherits the cycles and transcendence of nature.
Together with Soulbase and Maniacs of Noise, we made this 2 minute visual effects extravaganza from scratch to finish in a mind-altering two and a half weeks. The film is a tribute to science fiction films from the fifties and a reaction to the exaggerated patriotic character of recent american blockbusters.

Thee I Invoke, Spirit of The Overcoming
With Drugs of MASHU, My Shaman Magick
Self-inflicted, be Thou The Sword behind me
As I go Afar, to The Age of Dust
...Remember... ...Remember...
Thee I Invoke, Spirit of The Sunset
In The Name of The Most Mighty Hosts, I stand firm
Necromantic Art, Dwellers of CUTHA
I Desire to Speak Thee, to Travel Black Earth
From The Unknown God, protect me
From The Unknown Daemon, protect me
From the unknown enemy, protect me
As I go Afar, to A Baneful World
Thee I Invoke, Mistress of The Rising Star
For We Shalt Fornicate, Debauchery of Sodom
Drink of My Seed, be Thou The Eyes behind me
Stand at my side, at The Gate of No Return
...Remember... ...Remember...
Thee I Invoke, Thee I Shalt Serve
An Ancient Pact, Borne of Sumer
The Spear behind me, The Armor behind me
As I go Afar, to The Age of Dust
From The Unknown God, protect me
From The Unknown Daemon, protect me
From the unknown enemy, protect me
As I go Afar, to A Baneful World
And when The Spirit of The One Called Appears
May The Dead Rise and smell The Incense
