Plot Summary

Elba signed on as the lead of the 2007 film Tyler Perry's Daddy's Little Girls, playing Monty, a blue-collar mechanic who falls in love with an attorney helping him gain custody of his kids,
and finds the relationship and his custody hopes threatened by the return of his ex-wife. He appeared in 28 Weeks Later (2007) and This Christmas (2007), which brought in nearly $50 million at the box office in 2007.
Elba's next film was Legacy (2010). in which he portrayed a black ops soldier who returned to Brooklyn after a failed mission in Eastern Europe, where he undertook a journey looking for retribution.

This was the Beyonce, Idris Elba, Ali Larter film I did for Sony/Screen Gems. I wanted to infuse the classic lighting from Hitchcock era films mixed with a modern camera style. We shot 15-20,000 ft of film per day and up to 60+ 2 camera setups. It was quite fast working like that. Steve Shill is a TV director and really kept the pace and energy moving quickly.

Idris Elba
Idrissa Akuna "Idris" Elba, OBE (/ˈɪdrəs ˈɛlbə/; born 6 September 1972) is a British actor, musician, and DJ. He is best known for his portrayal of drug lord and aspiring businessman Russell "Stringer" Bell in the HBO series The Wire, Detective John Luther in the BBC One series Luther, and Nelson Mandela in the 2013 biographical film Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. He has been nominated five times for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Miniseries or Television Film, winning one, as well being nominated four times for a Primetime Emmy Award.
Elba has appeared in films such as American Gangster (2007), Takers (2010), Thor (2011), Prometheus (2012), Pacific Rim (2013), Thor: The Dark World (2013), and Beasts of No Nation (2015). In addition to his acting work, he is a DJ under the moniker DJ Big Driis (or Big Driis the Londoner) and hip hop soul musician.
Early life
Elba was born in Newham, London. His father, Winston, was a Sierra Leonean who worked in a Dagenham Ford motor factory, and his mother, Eve, was a Ghanaian who had a clerical job. Elba's parents married in Sierra Leone and moved to London. Elba was raised in East Ham and shortened his first name from Idrissa to Idris at school in Canning Town, where he first became involved in acting. He credits The Stage with giving him his first big break; having seen an advertisement for a play in the newspaper, Elba auditioned and met his first agent while performing in the role. In 1986, he began helping an uncle with his wedding DJ business; within a year, he had started his own DJ company with some of his friends.

This was the Beyonce, Idris Elba, Ali Larter film I did for Sony/Screen Gems. I wanted to infuse the classic lighting from Hitchcock era films mixed with a modern camera style. We shot 15-20,000 ft of film per day and up to 60+ 2 camera setups. It was quite fast working like that. Steve Shill is a TV director and really kept the pace and energy moving quickly.

This was the Beyonce, Idris Elba, Ali Larter film I did for Sony/Screen Gems. I wanted to infuse the classic lighting from Hitchcock era films mixed with a modern camera style. We shot 15-20,000 ft of film per day and up to 60+ 2 camera setups. It was quite fast working like that. Steve Shill is a TV director and really kept the pace and energy moving quickly.

“Jungle Book” is based on Kipling’s classic story about the “man cub” Mowgli (played by the darling newcomer Neel Sethi), who was raised by a pack of wolves and enjoys a life of peace with all of the animals in the Indian jungle - except for the fearsome tiger ShereKhan, who threatens his life. Guided by his best friend Bagheera, the panther takes Mowgli on a journey to find his own kind to protect him. Along the way he meets the lovable, giant bear Baloo, an enormous python Kaa and a gigantic ape named King Louie, all voiced by Idris Elba, Ben Kingsley, Bill Murray, Scarlett Johansson and Christopher Walken.
Producer/director Jon Favreau (one of my favorite directors) has created a visually stunning, epic adventure, that had me mesmerized from the first scene to the last! He used ubertechnology to create a realistic, PG family-friendly fantasy, that equally mixes intense action and drama with humor and lovable characters, all ages will enjoy. I love how seamlessly and brilliantly the classic songs, “The Bare Necessities” and “I Wanna Be Like You”, are woven into the story. And I enjoyed the positive messages about the strength of family, enjoying the simple things in life, using your gifts and talents, counting on friends and the importance of helping others.
Bravo Disney! You’ve remade a new classic from a golden masterpiece that will become a new standard …it’s one of your best family films for a new generation!

Along the way he meets the lovable, giant bear Baloo, an enormous python Kaa and a gigantic ape named King Louie, all voiced by Idris Elba, Ben Kingsley, Bill Murray, Scarlett Johansson and Christopher Walken.
Producer/director Jon Favreau (one of my favorite directors) has created a visually stunning, epic adventure, that had me mesmerized from the first scene to the last! He used ubertechnology to create a realistic, PG family-friendly fantasy, that equally mixes intense action and drama with humor and lovable characters, all ages will enjoy. I love how seamlessly and brilliantly the classic songs, “The Bare Necessities” and “I Wanna Be Like You”, are woven into the story. And I enjoyed the positive messages about the strength of family, enjoying the simple things in life, using your gifts and talents, counting on friends and the importance of helping others.
Bravo Disney! You’ve remade a new classic from a golden masterpiece that will become a new standard …it’s one of your best family films for a new generation!

The previews for “Prometheus” looked really cool to me, and I excitedly awaited its arrival in theatres. It looked like a return to form for director Ridley Scott-a stylistic throwback to two of his early sci-fi movies-the original scary “Alien” and the moody “Blade Runner”. Since the first trailers started popping up, Scott has played coy about whether this film was connected in any way to the original “Alien”. Was “Prometheus” a prequel, a sequel, or was all the online chatter just a tease?
I try hard to be spoiler-free in my reviews, but it’s safe to say that if you’ve watched the trailers closely, you will see some glimpses of imagery that looks a lot like elements of the original “Alien”, including a mysterious figure from that film whose presence was never explained. So the short answer is-yes, this film is related-like a cousin, to the first “Alien” film. But if you’ve never seen it, there is nothing you really need to know from that film, or from any of its sequels, that will take away from your enjoyment in viewing “Prometheus”. In fact, you’re probably better off if you haven’t seen “Alien”. More about that in a minute.
There was a lot to like in this film. Visually, it was spectacular. From the graceful opening shots of pre-history Earth, to the silent grandeur of the spacecraft, to the bio-mech art design-“Prometheus” was cinematically stunning. The pacing, while slow in many sections, added to the suspense and weight of the film. The casting was strong with Noomie (rahpose)Rapace as the female lead, Tom Hardy as the scientist love interest, Charlize Theron as the bitchy boss and Idris Elba (ih-dris ellbuh) as the crusty ship captain-but they were all held back in their parts by the script. A standout in the cast was Michael Fassbender as the creepily spooky android David. He’s the only character that was written with some dimension. Guy Pearce was totally wasted, showing up in some really bad old age makeup. I kept expecting him to be rejuvenated into a youthful version-why else would you use a younger actor for someone pushing a gazillion years old?
There are major problems with the story. It seems deep and grand at first glance, but is actually fairly shallow with some huge-I mean humongous potholes in logic, character development and suspense. For a trillion dollar spaceship filled with scientist, geologists and biologists, they have the street smarts of a 6 year old who grew up in a sheltered mansion. I’m not just talking about the obligatory idiot who goes where he shouldn’t go-it is partly a horror movie after all-but everybody acts clueless. I could go on for several minutes on this-but I’ve got to wrap up things shortly.

See if this sounds vaguely familiar: ship in deep outer space, crew in hibernation for a couple of years, on their way to a mysterious planet for a secret mission with a strong willed female as the lead character no one listens to. While on the distant planet, they encounter some bad, bad stuff, stupidly bring it back on the ship, and all hell breaks loose. You also find out there is a “secret”, secret agenda.
Yeah, there is a little different framing that makes the story slightly unique-but it’s mostly window dressing to the same old story. I will get a lot of online arguments about how “epic” the set-up is-but I still think it’s pretty superficial. So I guess this almost makes the film a remake-not a sequel or prequel.
The scripting problems are a real shame, because even with all the issues, I still liked a whole lot of this film. It just needed several more drafts to match the outstanding visual parts of the story.
I give “Prometheus” directed by Ridley Scott a grade of “B-“. I’m Keith Kelly.

Mandela : Un long chemin vers la liberté retrace le parcours exceptionnel de Nelson Mandela jusqu'à son élection. Né et élevé à la campagne, dans la famille royale des Thembus, Nelson Mandela gagne Johannesburg où il va ouvrir le premier cabinet d'avocats noirs et devenir un des leaders de l'ANC. Son arrestation le sépare de Winnie, l'amour de sa vie qui le soutiendra pendant ses longues années de captivité et deviendra à son tour une des figures actives de l'ANC.
À travers la clandestinité, la lutte armée, la prison, sa vie se confond plus que jamais avec son combat pour la liberté, lui conférant peu à peu une dimension mythique, faisant de lui l'homme clef pour sortir son pays, l'Afrique du Sud, de l'impasse où l'ont enfermé quarante ans d'apartheid. Il sera le premier Président de la République d'Afrique du Sud élu démocratiquement.
