Paris (UK: /ˈpærɪs/ PARR-iss; US: i/ˈpɛərɪs/ PAIR-iss; French: [paʁi]) is the capital and most populous city of France. Situated on the Seine River, in the north of the country, it is in the centre of the Île-de-France region, also known as the région parisienne, "Paris Region". The City of Paris has an area of 105 km² (41 mi²) and a population of 2,241,346 (2014 estimate) within its administrative borders essentially unchanged since 1860.
Since the 19th century, the built-up area of Paris has grown far beyond its administrative borders; together with its suburbs, the whole agglomeration has a population of 10,550,350 (Jan. 2012 census).Paris' metropolitan area spans most of the Paris region and has a population of 12,341,418 (Jan. 2012 census), or one-fifth of the population of France. The administrative region covers 12,012 km² (4,638 mi²), with approximately 12 million inhabitants as of 2014, and has its own regional council and president.
Paris was founded in the 3rd century BC by a Celtic people called the Parisii, who gave the city its name. By the 12th century, Paris was the largest city in the western world, a prosperous trading centre, and the home of the University of Paris, one of the first in Europe. In the 18th century, it was the centre stage for the French Revolution, and became an important centre of finance, commerce, fashion, science, and the arts, a position it still retains today.
The term U.S. Open or US Open is applied to "open" United States-hosted championships in a particular sport (or non-sport organized competitive gaming activity), in which anyone, amateur or professional, American or non-American, and generally, male or female, may compete.
The term most commonly refers to:

Maria Callas, Commendatore OMRI (Greek: Μαρία Κάλλας; December 2, 1923 – September 16, 1977), was a Greek-American soprano, and one of the most renowned and influential opera singers of the 20th century. Some critics praised her bel canto technique, wide-ranging voice and dramatic interpretations, while others found her voice displeasing and considered that a defective technique was responsible for her premature decline. Her repertoire ranged from classical opera seria to the bel canto operas of Donizetti, Bellini and Rossini and further, to the works of Verdi and Puccini; and, in her early career, to the music dramas of Wagner. The press dubbed her La Divina.
Born in New York City and raised by an overbearing mother, she received her musical education in Greece and established her career in Italy. Forced to deal with the exigencies of wartime poverty and with myopia that left her nearly blind onstage, she endured struggles and scandal over the course of her career. She turned herself from a heavy woman into a svelte and glamorous one after a mid-career weight loss, which might have contributed to her vocal decline and the premature end of her career. The press exulted in publicizing Callas's temperamental behavior, her supposed rivalry with Renata Tebaldi and her love affair with Greek shipping tycoon Aristotle Onassis. Although her dramatic life and personal tragedy have often overshadowed Callas the artist in the popular press, her artistic achievements were such that Leonard Bernstein called her "the Bible of opera" and her influence so enduring that, in 2006, Opera News wrote of her: "Nearly thirty years after her death, she's still the definition of the diva as artist—and still one of classical music's best-selling vocalists."
The 2016 UEFA European Championship, commonly referred to as UEFA Euro 2016 or simply Euro 2016, will be the 15th edition of the UEFA European Championship, the quadrennial international men's football championship of Europe organized by UEFA. It is scheduled to be held in France from 10 June to 10 July 2016.Spain are two-time defending champions.
For the first time, the European Championship final tournament will be contested by 24 teams, having been expanded from the 16-team format used since 1996. Under this new format, the finalists will contest a group stage consisting of six groups of four teams, followed by a knockout stage including three rounds and the final. 19 teams (the top two from each of the nine qualifying groups and the best third-placed team) joined France who qualified automatically as hosts; a series of two-legged play-off ties between the remaining third-placed teams in November 2015 decided the last four spots at the final tournament.
France was chosen as the host nation on 28 May 2010, after a bidding process in which they beat Italy and Turkey for the right to host the 2016 finals. The matches will be played in ten stadia in ten cities: Bordeaux, Lens, Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Nice, Paris, Saint-Denis, Saint-Étienne, and Toulouse. It will be the third time that France hosts the tournament, after the inaugural tournament in 1960 and the 1984 finals. The French team have won the European Championship twice: in 1984 and 2000.
The Stade de France (French pronunciation: [stad də fʁɑ̃s]) is the national stadium of France, situated just north of Paris in the commune of Saint-Denis. Its seating capacity of 81,338 makes it the fifth-largest stadium in Europe. The stadium is used by both the France national football team and French rugby union team for international competition. Originally built for the 1998 FIFA World Cup, the stadium's name was recommended by Michel Platini, head of the organising committee. On 12 July 1998, France defeated Brazil 3–0 in the 1998 FIFA World Cup Final contested at the stadium.
Stade de France is listed as a Category 4 stadium by UEFA and has hosted matches for the 1998 FIFA World Cup, the UEFA Champions League finals in 2000 and 2006, some matches for the 1999 Rugby World Cup, and the 2007 Rugby World Cup, making it the only stadium in the world to have hosted both a Football World Cup final and a Rugby World Cup final. The facility also hosted the Race of Champions auto race in 2004, 2005, and 2006. The stadium hosted the 2003 World Championships in Athletics and since 1999 it has hosted the annual Meeting Areva athletics meet. It will also host some matches at UEFA Euro 2016, including the final.

A suspicious package was found at the Stade de France in Paris, two hours before the match between Ireland and Sweden at Euro 2016 was scheduled to kick off. It was discovered by security staff near one of the entrances to the stadium in the French capital’s Saint Denis area. A safety perimeter was setup around the suspicious package and a bomb disposal squad was called in. After checking, the incident was ruled a “false alarm,” meaning that the Ireland v. Sweden game would go ahead “as scheduled” at 6pm local time (GMT+2). L'Equipe newspaper reported that sappers performed a controlled explosion outside the Stade de France.“The suspicious package” turned out be two discarded sports bags, which posed no danger. "We were informed that they found two forgotten bags that police searched,”...

Undramatic yet strangely entertaining. It's like watching in slo-mo. James Phillips, 22, of Southmead, used his 50cc Piaggio moped to try and escape from police through a housing estate in Bristol, but mostly only used a speed of 15 mph.
and a good reminder that Sicilian belcanto isn't necessarily undramatic... "Norma" is a drama, not a showcase for glitzy technique: NORMA Oh, do not let them be victims Of my cruel mistake ? Oh, do not cut them down In the innocence of childhood. Remember that I am your blood, Have pity on my children. Oh father, have pity, Have pity on my children. Father, oh father ? I want to stress that Bellini's music can be very dramatic but singers seldom do it justice. The other day I listened to such a nondescript Elvira... they do kinda sleepwalk when they sing Bellini. Strictly Come Dancing judge Darcey Bussell has broken her silence on Will Young's shocking exit. The singer, 37, announced he was quitting the BBC One talent show with an emotional statement, citing "personal reasons" for the departure. Speaking to Mail Online, Bussell, 47, revealed her views on Will leaving before his time. She said: "It's sad. Unfortunately being a judge we are not allowed to see the rehearsals or what happened during the week so you don't know the ins and outs and you only arrive on the day of the live show." The judge added that Will could have done well on the show, she told the publication: "It's horrifying to think that somebody who could have easily got to the final [has left]. But you know, like in anybody's lives, you have many things that are going on and it...

Novak Djokovic beats Roger Federer in four sets to secure second US Open title and cement position as world No.1 The old gunslinger was brought down again as Novak Djokovic solidified his position at the highest point of world tennis with triumph at the US Open. The world No.1 won the tenth significant title of his vocation with a 6-4, 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 win over Roger Federer at Flushing Meadows. The last was postponed three hours as an aftereffect of downpour over New York and there were sufficient tears shed in the result of this charming match to surge the East River at Queens. For Djokovic, 28, it was his second US Open as he finished the pummel season with three of the huge four - just annihilation by Stan Wawrinka in the last of the French Open not long ago denied him the ideal se...

✱ 3.650 Hotels in Paris - Lowest Price Guarantee ► http://goo.gl/7DPtpx Travel video about destination Paris in France. Paris is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. First established by the Celts, next used strategically by the Romans, then it served the extravagant lifestyle of the Sun King, Louis XIV until it became a hotbed of Revolution. Champs-Élysée is surely one of the most beautiful avenues in the world. It has wide boulevards, shady corners, ambient street cafes and classic Parisian buildings that are decorated with flowers. Since 1873, the Palais de l'Élysée has been the residence of the French President. At the beginning of the 17th century, Madame de Pompadour lived there and during the Revolution the liberated people cavorted in its luxurious rooms. Through a sm...
