Beatty is a surname of Scottish and Irish origin. In the Scottish case, some have thought that it is derived from the name Bartholomew, which was often shortened to Bate or Baty. Male descendants were then often called Beatty, or similar derivations like Beattie or Beatey. The name Beatty or Beattie, others think, arose in Ireland from Betagh, a surname meaning hospitaller. A majority of people named Beatty or Beattie in Ireland are the descendants of Scots who came over to Ulster in the seventeenth century. Beattie is common in counties Antrim and Down, whilst Beatty is more common in counties Armagh and Tyrone. In Fermanagh in 1962, Beatty was the fifteenth most common name and was recorded as synonymous with the names Betty and MacCaffrey (or McCaffrey).
It is most likely that the name derives from Mac a'Bhiadhtaigh, from biadhtach, "one who held land on condition of supplying food (biad) to those billeted on him by the chief". In the rest of Ireland, the name Biadhtach (Betagh; "public victualler") was changed to Beatty or Beattie. In Scotland, the Beatties were a reiver clan in the Langholm area of Eskdale. George MacDonald Fraser has written about the reiving clans in "The Steel Bonnets : The Story of the Anglo-Scottish Border Reivers".
Henry Warren Beatty (/ˈbeɪti/ BAY-tee; born March 30, 1937) is an American actor, producer, screenwriter and director. He has been nominated for fourteen Academy Awards – four for Best Actor, four for Best Picture, two for Best Director, three for Original Screenplay, and one for Adapted Screenplay – winning Best Director for Reds (1981). Beatty is only the second person to have been nominated for acting, directing, writing and producing in the same film – doing so first with Heaven Can Wait (1978), and again with Reds – succeeding Orson Welles, who was nominated for all four for Citizen Kane (1941).
In 1999, he was awarded the Academy's highest honor, the Irving G. Thalberg Award. Beatty has been nominated for eighteen Golden Globe Awards, winning six, including the Golden Globe Cecil B. DeMille Award, which he was honored with in 2007. Among his Golden Globe-nominated films are Splendor in the Grass (1961), Bonnie and Clyde (1967), Shampoo (1975), Dick Tracy (1990), Bugsy (1991), and Bulworth (1998).
Dorothy Faye Dunaway (born January 14, 1941) is an American actress, best known for her starring roles in films from the 1960s onwards.
Dunaway’s career began in the early 1960s on Broadway. She made her screen debut in the 1967 film The Happening, and rose to fame that same year with the gangster film Bonnie and Clyde, for which she received her first Academy Award nomination. Her most notable films include the crime caper The Thomas Crown Affair (1968), the neo-noir mystery Chinatown (1974), for which she earned her second Oscar nomination, the action-drama disaster The Towering Inferno (1974), the political thriller Three Days of the Condor (1975) and the satirical Network (1976), for which she received an Academy Award for Best Actress.
Dunaway's career evolved to more mature and character roles in subsequent years, often in independent films, beginning with her controversial portrayal of Joan Crawford in the 1981 film Mommie Dearest. Other notable films in which she has starred include the thriller Eyes of Laura Mars (1978), the drama Barfly (1987) and the surrealist comedy-drama Arizona Dream (1993).

After the Oscars were handed out, all the stars headed to the Governor’s Ball. “Extra’s” Jerry Penacoli spoke with some of the big names, many of whom were still stunned by how the show ended. In a moment that will go down as one of the most shocking in Oscar history, "Moonlight" was named Best Picture, but only after "La La Land” was mistakenly announced the winner first. Jordan Horowitz, one of the producers of “La La Land,” had already finished his acceptance speech when “Moonlight” was announced as the rightful Best Picture. As for what was going on in his mind, he told Jerry that he "hasn't wrapped my head around it... still surreal.” He added that Emma Stone’s name was on the card inside the envelope. Though Horowitz had to hand the award back, he emphasized, “I got to thank my wif...

Warren Beatty apparently handed co-presented Faye Dunaway the wrong name as the winner of the Best Picture Oscar during Sunday night's award show, an error that was only caught after the producers of "La La Land" were on stage accepting their award. The real winner was "Moonlight," and reports are that Beatty was holding the wrong card which he passed to Dunaway. The error was caught after the "La La Land" cast was on stage leading to producer Jordan Horowitz stopping the celebration to announce there had been a mistake. He then held up a card that showed the coming-of-age drama "Moonlight" was the winner. Beatty later said he opened the envelope and it said "Emma Stone, La La Land," and that's what caused his delayed reaction. The mistake shocked the crowd and set off a firestorm on so...

'Cause I'll be puttin' in work
Commit my life to rebirth
Well respected, 'cause that's my word
And I'm sure you heard

She might have left my hood
But she was born in my town
You didn't know, thought we was new on the scene
