Here's a trip down memory lane for me and my family. And anyone else who left Bishop's Stortford and looks back with happy memories. We picked a beautiful spring day in 2009 to go back to my place of birth, and after 30 years I was pleased to see that nothing much had changed. Even my old school tie is still totally psychedelic! I went and bought one for old times' sake.

In this video I visited Bishops Stortford station on the West Anglia Main Line. Services are seen here by Greater Anglia and Stansted Express.
Bishops Stortford was undoubtedly my favourite station of the day. It's got a unique feel to it that the other 4 stations didn't have. The station itself is nicely laid out and has some quite nice views and bends around the track. This is a station I'd definitely consider returning to.
My next station is Stratford and this will be uploaded on Tuesday 9th May.

Bishop's Stortford
Coordinates: 51°52′19″N 0°10′21″E / 51.8720°N 0.1725°E / 51.8720; 0.1725
Bishop's Stortford is a historic market town and civil parish in the district of East Hertfordshire in the county of Hertfordshire in England. It is just west of the M11 motorway on the county boundary with Essex, and is the closest large town to London Stansted Airport in the London commuter belt. Bishop's Stortford is 27 miles (43 km) north east of Charing Cross in central London and 35 miles (56 km) from Liverpool Street station, the London terminus of the line to Cambridge that runs through the town. Bishop's Stortford has a population of 38,202.
History
Nothing of significance is known of the Bishop's Stortford area until it became a small Roman settlement on the Roman road of Stane Street between Braughing and Colchester. After the Roman Empire broke down, the settlement was abandoned in the 5th century.
A new Saxon settlement grew up on the site, named Steort-ford, meaning "tail ford", "ford at tongues of land". In 1060, William, Bishop of London, bought the Stortford manor and estate for eight pounds, leading to the town's modern name.

I've traveled around UK in 2006. My purpose is that I find a good B&B;. Oct. 5th I stayed in my friend's room. Then I leave london next day, I went to Bishop's Stortford. That was so tiny town. The Path was so beautiful. The B&B; is Homesdale. 7th Depart Bishop's 11:13 Arrive cambridge 12:04 D Peterborough 13:16 A Northallerton Railway Station 14:55 I used taxi from Northallerton to Watermill House(takes approx 20mins). TomTom Android SatNav Sending me Down a Dead End Road in Bishops Stortford
This was my attempt to use TomTom's Android App to get me from Bishop's Stortford to Norwich. Couldn't even get me out of the car park from the local shopping centre, in the end I had to shut down TomTom and switch to Waze. The simple fact is this, TomTom is a very pretty looking App and works fine on major UK Motorways and A1 Road but it simply cannot get you out of local traffic conditions. TomTom doesn't have enough data to cope with small roads in the UK that are heavily congested with traffic. Waze has a loyal user group that is given an easy way to report heavy traffic and other problems. I personally do not like the Waze interface, I don't find the graphics are well drawn and it could do with a major UI overhaul but when it comes to getting you out of heavy traffic non of the ot...

I stayed in my friend's room. Then I leave london next day, I went to Bishop's Stortford.
That was so tiny town. The Path was so beautiful.
The B&B; is Homesdale.

I used taxi from Northallerton to Watermill House(takes approx 20mins).
The town's name is Crakehall Watermill, Little Crakehall, Badale.
Watermill House, was awesome!
I had a Home-made Cake and Yorkshire tea on arrival.
Delicious evening meal, too!
That little market towns of Bedale was good, too.
Peaceful Location.

This was my attempt to use TomTom's Android App to get me from Bishop's Stortford to Norwich. Couldn't even get me out of the car park from the local shopping centre, in the end I had to shut down TomTom and switch to Waze.
The simple fact is this, TomTom is a very pretty looking App and works fine on major UK Motorways and A1 Road but it simply cannot get you out of local traffic conditions.
TomTom doesn't have enough data to cope with small roads in the UK that are heavily congested with traffic. Waze has a loyal user group that is given an easy way to report heavy traffic and other problems.
I personally do not like the Waze interface, I don't find the graphics are well drawn and it could do with a major UI overhaul but when it comes to getting you out of heavy traffic non of the other Android SatNav Apps I've tested come close to Waze for getting you out of traffic.
If TomTom is to improve it needs to stat using it's user and crowd sourcing feedback. You can't just rely on tracking users and trying to figure out traffic.
