Barry Mann (born Barry Imberman, February 9, 1939) is an American songwriter, and part of a successful songwriting partnership with his wife, Cynthia Weil.
He has written or co-written 53 hits in the UK and 98 in the US.
Mann was born on February 9, 1939 in Brooklyn, New York City.
His first successful song as a writer was "She Say (Oom Dooby Doom)", a Top 20 chart-scoring song composed for the band the Diamonds in 1959. Mann co-wrote the song with Mike Anthony (Michael Logiudice). In 1961, Mann had his greatest success to that time with "I Love How You Love Me", written with Larry Kolber and a No. 5 scoring single for the band the Paris Sisters. (Seven years later, Bobby Vinton's version would score in the Top 10.) The same year, Mann himself reached the Top 40 as a performer with a novelty song co-written with Gerry Goffin, "Who Put the Bomp", which parodied the nonsense words of the then-popular doo-wop genre.

The writers of "Somewhere Out There," "You've Lost that Loving Feeling," and "On Broadway" sit down with Paul for a light-hearted and at times serious talk about songwriting and their lives
Theater Talk focuses on Broadway's Beautiful - The Carole King Musical. First up, Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil, the husband/wife songwriting team whose early careers in the Sixties are also portrayed in this new show, join co-hosts Michael Riedel and Susan Haskins at the piano to discuss how they came together to write some of the great standards of pop music, a few of which Mann then performs. Next, actress Jessie Mueller discusses playing songwriter Carole King in one of the great performances of the season. Taped: 04-11-2014

Who put the bomp by Barry Mann - 1961 Rock and Roll / Doo-Wop
Rock And Roll Lullaby B. J. Thomas She was just sixteen and all alone When I came to be So we grew up together My mama child and me Now things were bad and she was scared But whenever I would cry She'd calm my fears and dry my tears With a rock and roll lullaby And she would sing sha na na na na na na na ... It will be all right sha na na na na na.... Sha na na na na na na na ... Now just hold on tight Sing it to me mama (mama mama ma) Sing it sweet and clear, oh! Mama let me hear that old rock and roll lullaby We made it through the lonely days But Lord the nights were long And we'd dream of better moments When mama sang her song Now I can't recall the words at all It don't make sense to try 'Cause I just knew lots of love came thru In that rock and roll lullaby And she'd sing sha n...

Look at this face
I know the years are showin
Look at this life
I still don't know where it's goin
I don't know much
But I know I love you
And that may be
All I need to know
Look at these eyes
They never seen what mattered
Look at these dreams
So beaten and so battered, hoo ooh
I don't know much
But I know I love you
And that may be
All I need to know
So many questions
Still left unanswered
So much
I've never broken through
And when I feel you near me
Sometimes I see so clearly
The only truth I've ever known
Is me and you
Look at this man
So blessed with inspiration
Look at this soul
Still searching for salvation
I don't know much
But I know I love you
And that may be
All I need to know
I don't know much
But I know I love you
That may be
All I need to know
I don't know much
But I know I love you
That may be
All there is to know, whoa oh oh oh ah
