The conservation movement, also known as nature conservation, is a political, environmental and a social movement that seeks to protect natural resources including animal, fungus, and plant species as well as their habitat for the future.
The early conservation movement included fisheries and wildlife management, water, soil conservation and sustainable forestry. The contemporary conservation movement has broadened from the early movement's emphasis on use of sustainable yield of natural resources and preservation of wilderness areas to include preservation of biodiversity. Some say the conservation movement is part of the broader and more far-reaching environmental movement, while others argue that they differ both in ideology and practice. Chiefly in the United States, conservation is seen as differing from environmentalism in that it aims to preserve natural resources expressly for their continued sustainable use by humans. In other parts of the world conservation is used more broadly to include the setting aside of natural areas and the active protection of wildlife for their inherent value, as much as for any value they may have for humans.
Theodore "TR" Roosevelt (/ˈroʊzəvɛlt/ ROH-zə-velt; October 27, 1858 – January 6, 1919) was an American statesman, author, explorer, soldier, naturalist, and reformer who served as the 26th President of the United States from 1901 to 1909. As a leader of the Republican Party during this time, he became a driving force for the Progressive Era in the United States in the early 20th century.
Born a sickly child with debilitating asthma, Roosevelt successfully overcame his health problems by embracing a strenuous lifestyle. He integrated his exuberant personality, vast range of interests, and world-famous achievements into a "cowboy" persona defined by robust masculinity. Home-schooled, he became a lifelong naturalist before attending Harvard College. His first of many books, The Naval War of 1812 (1882), established his reputation as both a learned historian and as a popular writer. Upon entering politics, he became the leader of the reform faction of Republicans in New York's state legislature. Following the deaths of his wife and mother, he took time to grieve by escaping to the wilderness of the American West and operating a cattle ranch in the Dakotas for a time, before returning East to run unsuccessfully for Mayor of New York City in 1886. He served as Assistant Secretary of the Navy under William McKinley, resigning after one year to serve with the Rough Riders, where he gained national fame for courage during the Spanish–American War. Returning a war hero, he was elected governor of New York in 1898. The state party leadership distrusted him, so they took the lead in moving him to the prestigious, but considered by them powerless, position of running for vice president as McKinley's running mate in the election of 1900. Roosevelt campaigned vigorously across the country, helping McKinley win re-election by a landslide on a platform of peace, prosperity, and conservatism.
Red Dead Redemption is an open world, western action-adventure video game developed by Rockstar San Diego and published by Rockstar Games. It was released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles in May 2010. It is the second title in the Red Dead franchise, after 2004's Red Dead Revolver. The game, set during the decline of the American Frontier in the year 1911, follows John Marston, a former outlaw whose wife and son are taken hostage by the government in ransom for his services as a hired gun. Having no other choice, Marston sets out to bring the three members of his former gang to justice.
Red Dead Redemption is played from a third-person perspective in an open world environment, allowing the player to interact with the game world at their leisure. The player can travel the virtual world, a fictionalized version of the Western United States and Mexico, primarily by horseback and on foot. Gunfights emphasize a gunslinger gameplay mechanic called "Dead Eye" that allows players to mark multiple shooting targets on enemies in slow motion. The game makes use of a morality system, by which the player's actions in the game affect their character's levels of honor and fame and how other characters respond to the player. An online multiplayer mode is included with the game, allowing up to 16 players to engage in both co-operative and competitive gameplay in a recreation of the single-player setting.

Brady Robinson is the Executive Director of the Access Fund. His name is one that's widely recognized in the outdoor world, as he's the one leading the charge for protecting the most precious parts of our natural resources: the ones that give us the most joy. From rock climbing to road trips and family vacations to far and away places, the outdoors feed us and are the places in between that connect people on more levels than we could possibly imagine. Brady speaks not only to why we get outside, but why those who hold recreation dear have to lead the charge in today's conservation movement. By remembering what we love and why we love it, we find the inspiration to protect it and nurture it for future generations. Politics and pressure aside, the future of the world outdoors begins with us ...
In just two decades, the monarch butterfly population has plummeted by a heartbreaking 90 percent, primarily due to the loss of critical milkweed habitat. In this video, you’ll meet the Duncansons – a Minnesota farming family that has turned milkweed from a liability into an opportunity. “This is an opportunity, but it’s also a responsibility—to leave the land, the animals we produce, in better shape than how we found them,” explains Kristin Weeks Duncanson. Watch to learn why farmers and ranchers like the Duncansons are the monarch butterfly’s best hope for a thriving future.
Theodore Roosevelt was a great lover of nature long before he became president. From boyhood throughout his adult life, Roosevelt's enthusiasm for conservation was encouraged and shaped by several influential figures. Early on, TR's uncle, Robert Barnwell Roosevelt inspired his nephew with his tireless struggles on behalf of conservation policy. Later, Roosevelt would meet the naturalists John Burroughs, George Bird Grinnell, and Museum ornithologist, Frank Chapman. During his presidency, Roosevelt would call upon them as trusted advisors. One of his greatest political allies in the crusade to preserve America's natural beauty was Gifford Pinchot, the first chief of the U.S. Forest Service. The restored Theodore Roosevelt Memorial is now open at the American Museum of Natural History. Vi...
