“My Life, My China” is a series of interviews with 10 Chinese journalists who are also Communist Party members talking about their views on the country and its major issues.
The fuel for Luo Jun’s Xinhua News Agency editorials is her rage at injustice in all its forms – from official corruption in China to Western double standards. Luo, who manages Xinhua’s social media accounts after two years in London as a political correspondent for the agency, says she has seen official government cars parked outside of entertainment facilities in broad daylight and is aware of cases where money has bought power.
For her, the person who embodies the true values of the Communist Party of China (CPC) is her grandfather, a CPC member and toy company manager who cared for others but was always strict with himself.
Luo is also very concerned about global terrorism. She condemns the Western-centric view held by mainstream media that refused to acknowledge a 2014 mass knife attack in a train station in Yunnan as an act of terror. “I don’t want that kind of ‘free media;’ I want our media to be responsible and accountable. That’s why I became a journalist for Xinhua,” she said.
“My Life, My China” was jointly produced by China Institute, Fudan University and Guan Video.

Kinesisk kulturdag ble arrangert på Dokkhuset lørdag 9. februar i forbindelse med kinesisk nyttår og overgang til slangens år. Kinesisk kulturdag ble en kjempesuksess. Det var mange besøkende på alle aktiviteter. To journalister fra Xinhua News Agency, Kinas største nyhetsbyrå, var tilstede for å dekke arrangementet. Tekst, bilder og nyhetsvideo ble spredt i Kina.
I 2005 ble det etablert et vennskapssamarbeid mellom Sør-Trøndelag og Chongqing i Kina. Kinasatsingen har høy prioritet i Sør-Trøndelag fylkeskommunes internasjonale strategi. Sør-Trøndelag fylkeskommune har tatt initiativ til å markere kinesisk nyttår 2013 i Trondheim, i samarbeid med Trondheim kommune og CSSA (kinesisk student- og forskerforening i Trondheim). Hovedmålet for dette initiativet er å vekke interesse for kinesisk språk og kultur blant byens og fylkets befolkning.
Programmet har tre deler:

Del II: Foredrag om kinesisk kultur og samfunn

Xinhua News Agency
The Xinhua News Agency (English pronunciation: /ˌʃɪnˈhwɑː/) is the official press agency of the People's Republic of China. Xinhua is the biggest and most influential media organization in China. Xinhua is a ministry-level institution subordinate to the Chinese central government. Its president is a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.
Xinhua operates more than 170 foreign bureaus worldwide, and maintains 31 bureaus in China—one for each province, plus a military bureau. Xinhua is the sole channel for the distribution of important news related to the Communist Party and Chinese central government.
Xinhua is regarded as the most influential media outlet in China as almost every newspaper in China relies on Xinhua feeds for content. People's Daily, for example, uses Xinhua material for approximately 25 percent of its stories. Xinhua is a publisher as well as a news agency—it owns more than 20 newspapers and a dozen magazines, and it prints in eight languages: Chinese, English, Spanish, French, Russian, Portuguese, Arabic and Japanese.

A news agency is an organization that gathers news reports and sells them to subscribing news organizations, such as newspapers, magazines and radio and television broadcasters. A news agency may also be referred to as a wire service, newswire, or news service.
There are many news agencies around the world, but there are global news agencies with offices in most countries of the world and cover all areas of information: Agence France-Presse, Associated Press and Reuters. All three began with and continue to operate on a basic philosophy of providing a single objective news feed to all subscribers; they do not provide separate feeds for conservative or liberal newspapers. History
Only a few large newspapers could afford bureaus outside their home city. They relied instead on news agencies, especially Havas in France and the Associated Press in the United States. Former Havas employees founded Reuters in Britain and Wolff in Germany; Havas is now Agence France-Presse (AFP). For international news, the agencies pooled their resources, so that Havas, for example, covered the French Empire, South America and the Balkans and shared the news with the other national agencies. In France the typical contract with Havas provided a provincial newspaper with 1800 lines of telegraphed text daily, for an annual subscription rate of 10,000 francs. Other agencies provided features and fiction for their subscribers.

Kinesisk kulturdag ble arrangert på Dokkhuset lørdag 9. februar i forbindelse med kinesisk nyttår og overgang til slangens år. Kinesisk kulturdag ble en kjempesuksess. Det var mange besøkende på alle aktiviteter. To journalister fra Xinhua News Agency, Kinas største nyhetsbyrå, var tilstede for å dekke arrangementet. Tekst, bilder og nyhetsvideo ble spredt i Kina.
I 2005 ble det etablert et vennskapssamarbeid mellom Sør-Trøndelag og Chongqing i Kina. Kinasatsingen har høy prioritet i Sør-Trøndelag fylkeskommunes internasjonale strategi. Sør-Trøndelag fylkeskommune har tatt initiativ til å markere kinesisk nyttår 2013 i Trondheim, i samarbeid med Trondheim kommune og CSSA (kinesisk student- og forskerforening i Trondheim). Hovedmålet for dette initiativet er å vekke interesse for kinesisk språk og kultur blant byens og fylkets befolkning.
Programmet har tre deler:

China will limit the number of visits that residents of the southern city of Shenzhen can make to neighboring Hong Kong, state media said on Monday, to ease the flow of mainland visitors in the former British colony that have stirred up tensions. Four Chinese have been punished and blacklisted for their "uncivilised tourist behaviour" at a Bangkok airport, the China National Tourism Administration (CNTA) said. According to the administration, a flight delay at the Bangkok airport earlier this month led to dissatisfaction and uproar among Chinese tourists, Xinhua news agency reported. The four blacklisted tourists behaved badly, inciting other tourists to disobey public order at the airport, which severely tarnished the image of China. The four will stay on the "bad behaviour record" blacklist for two to three years, the CNTA said. When translating names into Chinese, many factors come into play - culture, pronunciation and gender - to name just a few. A name translation that has the similar pronunciation is the first sign of quality translation.
The challenge comes in immediately since the same name can be pronounced differently in different source languages. This will result in different translation in Chinese.
For example, the name HARLEY is translated into different Chinese names based on origins and gender:
HARLEY (English) - 哈利 (hā lì) (male)
HARLEY (English) - 哈莉 (hā lì) (female)
HARLEY (French) - 阿莱 (ā lái)
HARLEY (Swedish) - 哈莱 (hā lái)
Chinese translation has a unique challenge. Chinese is used across many countries and regions. It also has many dialects and some of them are drastically different. This means even the same English name can be pronounced differently in Chinese in different regions.
For example, shown below, former US president Ronald Reagan's last name has these different translation:
REAGAN - 里根(lǐ gēn) (mainland China)
REAGAN - 列根(liè gēn) (Hong Kong)
REAGAN - 雷根(léi gēn)(Taiwan)
Currently, there is no single standard in name translation adopted across all Chinese-speaking regions. Among the several regional guidelines, the most widely adopted translation rules are developed by Chinese state-owned institution Xinhua News Agency (新华通讯社). These rules are presented as a set of YIYIN tables (译音表) which match source language syllables to Chinese characters. They are considered as the de facto standards in China and we see increasing adoption in many other Chinese-speaking regions.
In China, names translated with these YIYIN tables are considered FORMAL and are required to be used in all government publications and major media outlets.
For example, if your name is DAVID, there is no problem when you are traveling across Chinese-speaking regions and introducing yourself as 大卫(dà wèi) since this is a popular translation that everyone understands. But you should know that your name DAVID's official Chinese translation is 戴维(dài wéi) if you make a state visit to China as head-of-government. ;-)

★★★ About Name Translation ★★★
When translating names into Chinese, many factors come into play - culture, pronunciation and gender - to name just a few. A name translation that has the similar pronunciation is the first sign of quality translation.
The challenge comes in immediately since the same name can be pronounced differently in different source languages. This will result in different translation in Chinese.
For example, the name HARLEY is translated into different Chinese names based on origins and gender:
HARLEY (English) - 哈利 (hā lì) (male)
HARLEY (English) - 哈莉 (hā lì) (female)
HARLEY (French) - 阿莱 (ā lái)
HARLEY (Swedish) - 哈莱 (hā lái)
Chinese translation has a unique challenge. Chinese is used across many countries and regions. It also has many dialects and some of them are drastically different. This means even the same English name can be pronounced differently in Chinese in different regions.
For example, shown below, former US president Ronald Reagan's last name has these different translation:
REAGAN - 里根(lǐ gēn) (mainland China)
REAGAN - 列根(liè gēn) (Hong Kong)
REAGAN - 雷根(léi gēn)(Taiwan)
Currently, there is no single standard in name translation adopted across all Chinese-speaking regions. Among the several regional guidelines, the most widely adopted translation rules are developed by Chinese state-owned institution Xinhua News Agency (新华通讯社). These rules are presented as a set of YIYIN tables (译音表) which match source language syllables to Chinese characters. They are considered as the de facto standards in China and we see increasing adoption in many other Chinese-speaking regions.
In China, names translated with these YIYIN tables are considered FORMAL and are required to be used in all government publications and major media outlets.
For example, if your name is DAVID, there is no problem when you are traveling across Chinese-speaking regions and introducing yourself as 大卫(dà wèi) since this is a popular translation that everyone understands. But you should know that your name DAVID's official Chinese translation is 戴维(dài wéi) if you make a state visit to China as head-of-government. ;-)

The accident in the southern city of Kaohsiung follows a grisly murder-suicide last year in which 24 Chinese tourists were killed after the driver set their moving bus on fire.
Taiwan's tourism industry has already suffered a major downturn in visitors from China. The mainland discouraged tourism to the island after Taiwan's president declined to commit to the "one China" principle that it is part of China.
China regards Taiwan as a renegade province to be united by force, if necessary.
China's National Tourism Bureau was paying close attention to the incident and called for greater security safeguards for mainland tourists in Taiwan, China's official Xinhua news agency said.
Of the 26 Chinese tourists on board the bus, nine Chinese tourists, the driver and the tour guide were taken to hospital, Taiwan's tourism bureau said, adding none of the injuries was life-threatening.

Four Chinese have been punished and blacklisted for their "uncivilised tourist behaviour" at a Bangkok airport, the China National Tourism Administration (CNTA) said.
According to the administration, a flight delay at the Bangkok airport earlier this month led to dissatisfaction and uproar among Chinese tourists, Xinhua news agency reported.
The four blacklisted tourists behaved badly, inciting other tourists to disobey public order at the airport, which severely tarnished the image of China.
The four will stay on the "bad behaviour record" blacklist for two to three years, the CNTA said.
The "bad behaviour record" was first introduced by the CNTA in March this year amid growing concerns about the bad manners of some Chinese tourists both at home and abroad.
It remains unclear how the "blacklist" status will affect the offenders, but experts say the rule functions more as a warning.
