Selective Memory Theatre
Selective Memory Theatre is a machine-like perception and memory installation, that thematises the desire to teach the non-forgetting digital memory to forget. It thereby covers the selectionistic nature of the individual mind, that marks the human sensing and remembering as the subjective and biased – but therefore human and functional – act that it is.
The installation consists of two projections, the perception and the memory layer. Both shell be explained in what follows.
The perception layer represents the sensory memory before any priorities have been chosen. It receives the newest images from flickr (www.flickr.com) which get distorted, mixed and blended to persuade some sort of sensory noise.
The memory layer is a metaphor for the short- and long-term memory. It is the place where...

memory body
a video by Eleonora Manca
Thought communicates with the body and writes upon it its own emotions by incessantly retrieving contents from memory. Each body is memory, arranged in so many layers that any act we perform is inevitably connected to memories which conscious thought aims to cancel, though they stay inside the body, unassailable. Whereas mind acts through knowledge and displacement, the body doesn’t forget anything, preserving every event, every thought, every look, every word into its cells. Thus, the idiom of the body is the inexplicable language of memory.

Memory Tapes 'Trance Sisters'
Vera Todorova, a young Berlin-based film-maker, was given a wildly ambitious brief: to remake the George Lucas cult sci-fi debut THX1138 for not much more than the cost of a couple of flights to Berlin and back. She rose to the task, amazingly, and delivered a memorably great narrative video that starts like some contemporary newsreel footage of civil disobedience and ends up…well, shan’t spoil it, but “demented, sci-fi mind control” is not a phrase we use often. But we will. And it fits here.
Taken from the album 'Player Piano' available from Carpark Recordings in North America and Europe via Something In Construction.

Crafting a memory.
"He lost everything but this last file, #P0611B"
Little bit of Trapcode Form, little bit of plexus, plus some photoshop comp.
Just a random experiment that I built upon this amazing photograph from Dean Bradshaw ( http://www.deanbradshaw.com/ ) that I randomly stumbled upon. I was looking for some imagery of a workbench and this just hit all the right buttons for me. The head direction wasn't really what I had in mind, so I altered the photograph with another photo from Dean's website.

quicksand
An elderly gentleman attempts to retrieve forgotten memories.
—
A week prior to his passing, my grandfather shared with me his former aspirations of becoming a filmmaker. After numerous hardships, a narrow escape from the Nazis and an immigration to the US, the dream slowly, but surely, faded away. After his passing, I uncovered an archival trove of dust-covered 8mm film that had seemingly not been viewed by anyone for at least a generation. Mesmerized, what unfolded before me was something most people, myself included, have never witnessed before: the development and utter decline of the human body and mind. Motivated by my grandfather's unfulfilled dreams of filmmaking, I decided to piece together a film that he had already unwittingly made.
quicksand is not only a personal tribute to m...

We all wish to have great
Memory Power so that we can remember whatever we learn and the good news is that IT's POSSIBLE!
Your memory power is beyond your wildest imagination but the only challenge is that we are never taught to use our Memory.
Rather, most of the time we are pressurised to learn & thus we use rote method for learning (about which the Psychologist say - it is the poorest method of learning).
We can produce wonderful results if we could understand that how our memory works, how it retains the learnt information & what is the proper system of memory to learn fast.
In this video,
I am explaining the system of Memory i.e. How our brain receives information, How it stores it, How it process it, How it recalls the stored information, what are the factors that affect the quality of storage & recall and how you can use the maximum potential of your memory power.
This video will also be worth watching if you are seeking help & suggestions on - How to memorize fast, how to develop memory power, how to use memory power, how to increase memory power, how to improve memory power, how to learn fast, Memory Tips, how to overcome memory problems, how to get rid of memory problems, how to use maximum memory power, memory techniques for studies, memory techniques for learning, how to remember what you study, Memorization and more.

The brain is energy vibrational frequencies in that which result in brain waves occur.
The scientist
Hans Berger who invented a device called
EEG which amplifies and measures these frequencies; the classified and named according to the
Greek letters: beta, alpha, theta, delta.
It has been found that the alpha waves are waves relaxation, the accelerated learning of Superlearning.
When we are producing alpha waves mind is on alert and our memory is potentiated. We produce when we are in a state of relaxation and hear special music that originates. Also, scientists have discovered that stress prevents the production of these important waves in the learning process, productive and efficient work in a pleasant, peaceful and happy state of mind.

I have been teaching memory training seminars for years and this
Mind Palace technique is without question my best memory training tip!
Sherlock Holmes used the Mind Palace in his stories. It is also referred to as the
Memory Palace.
Whether you call it the Mind Palace or the Memory Palace it is one of the most trusted memory techniques of top memory experts around the world. Although it was referenced in Sherlock Holmes books it actually dates back as far as
2500 years ago.
The core of the Mind Palace technique is that you use rooms in your head to store whatever it is that you want to memorize. It is an amazing memory training tool.
For example look around your room right now and number 5 pieces of furniture. Then you have 5 words to memorize: water, dog, sand, paper and cloud. On the first piece of furniture you may imagine water pouring down, a dog barking at the number two piece of furniture, a sand castle on the next, stacks of paper on the next and a cloud covering the 5th one. Then to recall the words you simply go back in your mind an look at each piece of furniture.
This method is known as the Mind Palace or Memory Palace and some have called it the
Roman Room (because the
Romans were the first to use it).
You can use the Mind Palace to give speeches without notes, memorize lines, memorize schoolwork, memorize chapters of books and just about anything. I used it to set the record for the fastest to memorize a deck of cards in the
USA.
Of all my how to memorize techniques the Mind Palace is without question my favorite. I have about 1300 items in my Mind Palace (no not all in my home. I used
30-40 different locations)
So if you are looking for my best memory training tip this is definitely it.

Trip is a virtual reality installation that allows people to navigate the artist’s virtual memories using a game controller.
For over one year every moment of his life has been documented by a video camera mounted on glasses, producing an expanding database of digitalized memories. Using custom virtual reality software, he created a virtual mindscape where people could navigate, and experience his memories during this period of his life.

Selective
Memory Theatre is a machine-like perception and memory installation, that thematises the desire to teach the non-forgetting digital memory to forget.
It is the place where existing memories can be activated by new perceptions and thus be called to mind.
The perception layer asks the memory layer for each new image if it is similar to allready existing memories. This happens based on the tags the flickr images are provided with. If a relevant image is found, it gets focused in the perception layer so that it stands out. At the same time the most similar memory gets activated inside the memory layer. Both images get into a dialogue representing the connection of the new perception and the old memory.
Afterwards the newly sensed image gets saved inside the memory layer so that the criteria for newly sensed images is changed. This demonstrates the interrelation between perception and memory, which oblivion results from.
Technical notes:
The actual applications run at 60fps so that the 30fps video does not capture the whole crazyness of the perception layer :)
Both projections run on different macs that communicate through a small

Thought communicates with the body and writes upon it its own emotions by incessantly retrieving contents from memory. Each body is memory, arranged in so many layers that any act we perform is inevitably connected to memories which conscious thought aims to cancel, though they stay inside the body, unassailable. Whereas mind acts through knowledge and displacement, the body doesn’t forget anything, preserving every event, every thought, every look, every word into its cells. Thus, the idiom of the body is the inexplicable language of memory.

Vera Todorova, a young Berlin-based film-maker, was given a wildly ambitious brief: to remake the
George Lucas cult sci-fi debut
THX1138 for not much more than the cost of a couple of flights to
Berlin and back. She rose to the task, amazingly, and delivered a memorably great narrative video that starts like some contemporary newsreel footage of civil disobedience and ends up…well, shan’t spoil it, but “demented, sci-fi mind control” is not a phrase we use often. Form, little bit of plexus, plus some photoshop comp.
Just a random experiment that I built upon this amazing photograph from
Dean Bradshaw (
http://www.deanbradshaw.com/ ) that I randomly stumbled upon. I was looking for some imagery of a workbench and this just hit all the right buttons for me. The head direction wasn't really what I had in mind, so I altered the photograph with another photo from
Dean's website.

Motivated by my grandfather's unfulfilled dreams of filmmaking, I decided to piece together a film that he had already unwittingly made.
quicksand is not only a personal tribute to my grandfather or father, but to anyone that has ever experienced loss.
Whether it be a loss of a loved one, or a loss of memories, quicksand embodies the enigma of life and death.
