Established in 2015 with the merger of two Penguin Random House imprints, Tarcher Books and Perigee, TarcherPerigee publishes award-winning books aimed at helping readers Learn, Create, and Grow.

Joel Fotinos

Vice President, Publisher

Joel Fotinos was named Publisher of the Tarcher/Penguin imprint in 1996, Director of Religious Publishing for Penguin Putnam in 1998, and founded the Putnam Praise Publishing Program in 2006. He was previously marketing manager at Harper San Francisco, and before that was the religion and philosophy buyer for Denver’s famed Tattered Cover bookstore, and founder of its popular spirituality series. Mr. Fotinos also has been buyer and manager at other independent and chain bookstores. He has written several books, and co-founded Sacred Center New York.

Brianna Yamashita

Associate Publisher, Executive Director of Publicity & Marketing

Brianna Yamashita has led the publicity and marketing team for Tarcher Books since 2008 and for Perigee since 2014, helping to grow such bestsellers as Dr. Daniel Siegel’s Brainstorm, Jackson Galaxy’s Catification, and Tyler Knott Gregson’s Chasers of the Light. At the start of 2016, Brianna was promoted to Associate Publisher of the combined TarcherPerigee imprint. Prior to joining the Penguin Random House group, Brianna served as Publicity Manager for Workman Publishing and, before that, PR and Marketing Manager for the independent genre fiction publisher Dorchester. She started her career editing reviews at Publishers Weekly.

Sara Carder

Editorial Director

Sara Carder is Editorial Director of TarcherPerigee, an imprint of Penguin Random House. Sara began her editorial career at Berkley Books, a paperback division of Penguin Random House, in 1997 working on mysteries, thrillers, and literary fiction. She joined Tarcher in 2000. Sara is honored to have spent the past fifteen years working with authors whose books  help people to lead happier, more rewarding lives. Her bestselling authors include Julia Cameron, Betty Edwards, and Daniel J Siegel, M.D author of the New York Times bestseller Brainstorm and Parenting from the Inside Out

Editorial Director

Marian Lizzi has 25 years of experience editing books for major publishing houses, with a focus on “self-help for smart people” as well as creativity, including quirky interactive journals. After “growing up” as an editor at St. Martin’s Press, where she acquired and edited a wide range of projects for 14 years, she moved to Perigee, where she served as Editor-in-Chief for 10 years. A former amateur stand-up comic, aspiring inventor, Pinterest addict, Brooklyn native, and Brown grad, she is always scouring the internet for new favorites to turn into books that will inspire, inform, and amaze.

Mitch Horowitz

MITCH HOROWITZ is an editor with a lifelong interest in man’s search for meaning. The PEN Award-winning author of “Occult America” and “One Simple Idea,” Mitch focuses on titles in metaphysics, New Age, and varied spiritual and self-help traditions. He has worked with David Lynch, Jacob Needleman, Whitley Strieber, and Jeffrey J. Kripal. The Washington Post says Mitch “treats esoteric ideas and movements with an even-handed intellectual studiousness that is too often lost in today’s raised-voice discussions.” He also oversees a robust program of reissues of metaphysical and motivational classics.

Senior Editor

Stephanie Bowen has more than a decade of editorial experience at major houses and smaller, independent publishers. As Senior Editor at TarcherPerigee, she acquires a range of nonfiction, including smart self-help for millennials and other audiences, empowering books for women, business and career guides, and pop psychology/science. The editor of numerous New York Times bestsellers and award-winning titles, she started her career at Doubleday, an imprint of PRH, before moving to Sourcebooks for three years, where she managed the adult nonfiction list and acquired nonfiction and fiction as Editor and then Senior Editor. With family spread across three continents, Stephanie is an avid traveler, passionate cook, sports fan, and self-dubbed “realistic optimist” with an endless curiosity and enthusiasm for helping authors shape their stories, ideas, and advice into engaging and inspiring books to share with readers everywhere.

Joanna Ng joined TarcherPerigee in 2012, where she acquires and edits books in the areas of personal growth/self-help, popular psychology, creativity, and memoir. She enjoys working with a diverse range of authors who have compelling stories to tell and powerful insights to share—she is always learning something new from them. Prior to coming to TarcherPerigee, Joanna was an assistant editor at Oxford University Press, where she primarily worked on books in psychology. She grew up in North Carolina and graduated from Duke University, where she double majored in English and Public Policy Studies.
