The White Stripes were an American rock duo, formed in 1997 in Detroit, Michigan. The group consisted of the couple, married at the time, Jack White (songwriter, vocals, guitar, bass and keyboards) and Meg White (drums and occasional vocals). After releasing several singles and three albums within the Detroit music scene, The White Stripes rose to prominence in 2002, as part of the garage rock revival scene. Their successful and critically acclaimed albums White Blood Cells and Elephant drew attention from a large variety of media outlets in the United States and the United Kingdom, with the single "Seven Nation Army" and its now-iconic guitar line becoming a huge hit. The band recorded two more albums, Get Behind Me Satan in 2005 and Icky Thump in 2007, and dissolved in 2011 after a lengthy hiatus from performing and recording.
The White Stripes used a low-fidelity approach to writing and recording. Their music featured a melding of garage rock and blues influences and a raw simplicity of composition, arrangement, and performance. The duo was also noted for their fashion and design aesthetic which featured a simple color scheme of red, white, and black—which was used on every album and single cover the band released—as well as the band's fascination with the number three. The band's discography consists of six studio albums, one live album, two extended plays (EP), one concert film, one tour documentary, twenty-six singles, and fourteen music videos. Their last three albums each won the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album.

Jack White is best known for his days in the retro garage rock band, The White Stripes. For his latest project, White is reaching way back to the early 1900’s and acting as a musical historian with the release of "The Rise and Fall of Paramount Records," which is up for a Grammy Award on Monday night. Anthony Mason reports.

The Detroit, Michigan native has brought another voice to that great lineage of vocalists and musicians that hail from the Motor City. Dwele's latest E One Music release "Greater Than One" further showcases his expansion as a artist taking music listeners for a retro-80's ride, producing music that he pays homage to as a child growing up. The Lake Butler native has close to 30 self-recorded and self-released albums to his name, both as a solo act and as hard-hitting duo Waylon Thornton & The Heavy Hands, which features his wife, Meg, on drums. Psychedelic rock, punkabilly, scuzz-blues, and traditional country are all fair game for Waylon and Meg — think The White Stripes playing with utter, complete abandon. Hailing from Royal Oak, Michigan, Brendan Benson is a singer-songwriter whose previous conquests include collaborating with White Stripes’ man Jack White in the Raconteurs and releasing five beautiful solo albums. His latest LP ‘What Kind Of World’ is the first to be released via his own label ‘Readymade’ and demonstrates the sublime song craft of one of America’s finest musicians. Releasing his first solo album in 1996 (‘One Mississippi’), Benson has managed to stay in the game without going stale. “I think on this new record I’m saying a lot of things I never thought I would say,” states Benson. For the Plectrum Sessions he performs a compelling acoustic version of ‘Keep Me’.

GUEST: Chaédria LaBouvier, writer for Elle Magazine BACKGROUND: The pop megastar Beyoncé surprised her fans last week by releasing an album called Lemonade. She spearheaded a massive collaboration of artists that includes the award winning Kenyan-Somali poet Warsan Shire, the unabashedly political hip hop artist Kendrick Lamar, the tennis superstar and role model Serena Williams, Jack White from The White Stripes, and Led Zeppelin's Robert Plant. But, continuing her trajectory toward embracing a more socially conscious approach to music and artistry, Queen Bey also sampled a Malcolm X speech and showcased the mothers of black men killed by police. Leave it to Donald Trump to bring Jack and Meg White back together. The White Stripes co-founders have issued a rare joint statement in opposition of the Republican presidential nominee. Jack and Meg slammed Trump for the “illegal use” of their song “Seven Nation Army” in a campaign video. “They are disgusted by this association, and by the illegal use of their song," The White Stripes said in a statement. R.E.M., Queen, The Rolling Stones, and Adele previously rebuked Trump for using their songs at campaign events without permission. Read more info here: http://cos.lv/wv8v304Rnyy

This video got pulled earlier, so here's to hoping. The Stripes bring "Dead Leaves And The Dirty Ground" and "We're Going To Be Friends" to a late night sketch program in 2002. It's live. It airs on Saturdays... Jack's blowtorch guitar on the initial song simply kicks ass. What a fantastic showing by the White Blood Cells era duo. Enjoy!

He dropped out of high school and didn't finish his art studies either, but that did not prevent him from making it big in the industry. Paris-based graphic designer and video director Alex Courtes is a busy man, but he still managed to invite us for a coffee in his apartment and escorted us on his motorcycle to Machine Molle, a motion and graphic design agency. Here, Alex is working on his latest project: a new commercial for Ebay. It all started when Alex met Martin Fougerol at art school, back in the early 1990s. Together they produced album sleeves and music videos for French artists like Cassius and Air. It didn't take long for them to draw international...

For 13 years soul vocalist and bandleader Dwele has made five recordings and toured endlessly around the world. Groups like Midnight Star, Prince, and the S.O.S Band. "Greater Than One" features special guests Black Milk and vocalist Raheem DeVaughn. Waylon Thornton & The Heavy Hands Performance and Interview July 21st 2012 @ Nobby's http://www.facebook.com/waylonthorntonandtheheavyhands Brought to you by Drift Magazine http://staugustine.com/drift Shot and Edited by Aloe Drift Article by Nick McGregor If authenticity were the key ingredient to musical success, Waylon Thornton would be king. But Thornton is no screw-it-all nihilist pounding out power jams for a d...
I went to school with Eric and he was always messing around with his trucks engine. Like most gear heads he will tear it apart every now and again to see if he can milk more power out of it. It was fun to film and fun to interview him as neither of us really knew what to expect. The song is Rag & Bone by The White Stripes. Filmed using a DIY camera crane and DIY Slider with a Nikon D5100 and Go Pro HD Hero
Watch our exclusive interview with The Mydols own Judy Davids. She talks about starting an all mom punk band, meeting Gene Simmons from KISS as well as Jack White from the White Stripes.
NOTE: This is the Extended version of this interview, available only to our subscribers, or to rent or buy. Central to the critical acclaim...

Here is a HQ of The White Stripes - Seven Nation Army Here's the lyrics: I'm gonna fight 'em all A seven nation army could not hold me back They're gonna rip it off Taking their Time right behind my back And I'm talking to myself at night Because I can not forget Back and forth through my mind Behind a cigarette And a message coming from my eyes says leave it alone Do not wanna hear about it Every single one's got a story to tell Everyone knows about it From the Queen of England to the hounds of Hell And if I catch you coming back my way I'm gonna sell it to you And did is not what you want to hear But that's what I'll do And a feeling coming from my bones Says find a home I'm going to Wichita Far from this opera forevermore I'm gonna work the straw Make the sweat drip out of every...

[Jack & Meg:]
Rag & Bone!
Rag & Bone!
Rag & Bone!
Rag & Bone!
[Jack:]
Meg, look at this place
This place looks like a mansion!
It's like a mansion, look at all this stuff!
Look, I see something over there.
We got you here selling rag and bone
Bring out your junk and we'll give it a home
A broken trumpet or a telephone
Ah, come on, come on, come on
Come and give it to me
Yeah!
Come on, come on, come on
Come on and give it to me
Rag & Bone!
Rag & B one!
Ah, come on, come on, come on
Come on and give it to me
Oh looking pretty
Your pretty little Rags & Bones
[Jack:] Well, look at all this, you don't want it?
[Meg:] What is that?
[Jack:]
You sure you don't want it? Take it.
They're just things you don't want.
I can use 'em.
Meg can use 'em
We can do something with 'em
We'll make something out of 'em
Make some money out of 'em at least.
Hey if you ain't gonna use it, just give it to us
We'll give it a home
Well, I hope you got something shoddy for me
Everybody got a Christmas tree
I got you a pot with a toilet seat
Ah, jump up, jump up, jump up
Come on and give it to me
Rag & Bone!
We wanna get it Granny, while it's hot
You think it's trash Granny, but it's not
Oh, we'll be taking whatever you got
Ah, give up, give up, give up
Come on and give it to me
Woo!
Oh looking pretty
Your pretty little Rags & Bones
[Meg:] I saw some stuff in here, now are you gonna give it to us?
[Jack:] Ah, Meg, don't be rude
[Meg:] Why not?
[Jack:]
They might need it.
And if you don't want it, we'll take it
And if you don't wanna give it to us,
We'll keep walking by
We'll keep going we're not tired
But, got plenty of places to go
Lots of homes we ain't been to yet
The west side
The south-west side
Middle east
Rich house
Dog house
Outhouse
Old folks' house
House for unwed mothers
Halfway homes
Catacombs
Twilight Zones
Looking for techniques, turntables to gramophones
So take a last lick of your ice-cream cones
And lock up what you still wanna own
But please be kind
And don't rewind
Oh looking pretty
Your pretty little Rags & Bones
Your pretty little Rags & Bones
Ah, jump up, jump up, jump up
Come on and give it to me
Your pretty little Rags & Bones
[Jack & Meg:]
Ah, come on, come on, come on
Come on and give it to us!
[Jack:]
Yeah!
Yeah, yeah!
Oh yeah!
Yeah!
[Meg:] Yeah!
[Jack & Meg, x13:] Yeah!
