The Sound or The Sounds may refer to:
From the Lions Mouth [sic] is the second studio album by English post-punk band The Sound, released in November 1981 on record label Korova. Following the release of their previous album Jeopardy, keyboardist Belinda "Bi" Marshall left the group and was replaced by Colvin "Max" Mayers. For their new album, The Sound worked with producer Hugh Jones, as well as co-producing the album themselves. The album's sound was more polished than previous efforts.
Like Jeopardy, From the Lions Mouth was critically acclaimed but failed to capture the attention of the public, with the band's fanbase limited to a cult following.
The album cover artwork was taken from the 1872 painting Daniel in the Lions Den [sic] by Briton Rivière.
NME compared the album's bleak nature to Joy Division's Closer. Despite their being posited as a gloomy band, AllMusic wrote "snake-charming opener 'Winning' is like a dash of cold water in the faces of all the bands that were wallowing and withering away at the weeping well [...] The Sound were not mopes. They had their problems with life, but rather than just vent or escape from them, they confront them and ask questions and attempt to sort it all out."
I Can may refer to:
In physics, sound is a vibration that propagates as a typically audible mechanical wave of pressure and displacement, through a medium such as air or water. In physiology and psychology, sound is the reception of such waves and their perception by the brain.
Acoustics is the interdisciplinary science that deals with the study of mechanical waves in gases, liquids, and solids including vibration, sound, ultrasound, and infrasound. A scientist who works in the field of acoustics is an acoustician, while someone working in the field of acoustical engineering may be called an acoustical engineer. An audio engineer, on the other hand is concerned with the recording, manipulation, mixing, and reproduction of sound.
Applications of acoustics are found in almost all aspects of modern society, subdisciplines include aeroacoustics, audio signal processing, architectural acoustics, bioacoustics, electro-acoustics, environmental noise, musical acoustics, noise control, psychoacoustics, speech, ultrasound, underwater acoustics, and vibration.
"I Can't" is the second single from American female hip-hop artist Foxy Brown's second album Chyna Doll.
"I Can't" was released on March 2, 1999 in the United States. The single was unsuccessful, receiving little airplay on urban radio stations and little video rotation on MTV, though it was slightly more successful on BET. It became her first single to miss the Billboard Hot 100 and peaked on the R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Track Chart at number 61.
The single featured a sample of the song "Everything She Wants" by the pop duo Wham!.
'I Can't Escape Myself' by 'The Sound' is the opening track from the band's classic debut album 'Jeopardy', which was first released in November 1980 and then reissued in 2002. 'The Sound' formed in South London in 1979, shortly after Adrian Borland's band 'The Outsiders' had dissolved. It isn't a very well-distributed fact, but 'The Outsiders' 1977 LP 'Calling on Youth' was the first self-released British punk LP, issued roughly four months after the Buzzcocks infamous Spiral Scratch 7". Guitarist/vocalist/songwriter 'Adrian Borland' led 'The Outsiders' through a couple of other releases, but the band sputtered out three years after their 1976 formation. The Sound were a great and under appreciated post punk band, that were around in the early 80's. To find out more about The Sound che...
