http://davidsbeenhere.com/ David’s Been Here is traveling through southern Serbia in search of the top destinations and best attractions. In this travel episode, David brings us the top things to see and do in Nis.
Serbia’s third largest city, Nis is one of the most historically significant destinations in the entire country with loads of sites, attractions and monuments to show for it. Nis is famous for being the birthplace of the Roman Emperor Constantine the Great, the man responsible for converting the empire to Christianity. The city was known in those days as Naissus.
First stop in historic Nis is straight to the city center where David meets up with his tour guide to explore the Nis Fortress. The fortress was built during Turkish rule (1386 – 1878) as was regarded as one of the most beautiful buildings in the Balkans. The Nis Fortress was used as an armory, hammam (bath), and prison. Much of the original building is still standing. It is a free attraction where people are welcome to stroll the paths and check out the 2,000-year-old Roman tombstones within.
Nis didn’t escape the horrors of WWII, as evidenced by the presence of a German concentration camp. Through the years the camp housed 30,000 people, of which 12,000 were executed.
Continuing along, David and his tour guide go see Skull Tower, built by the Ottomans. The skulls are those of Serbs killed by Ottomans during the Battle of Čegar during the First Serbian Revolution in 1809. They then head to the Archaeological Hall of Nis to check out some Roman artifacts from ancient Naissus.
With a fascinating history and pedestrian-friendly streets, travelers stopping over in Nis will have no shortage of things to do!

According to a Report from the National Intelligence Services (NIS) circulating in State House, the Jubilee government will lose the general election scheduled for August 8th unless the election is rigged.
The Report, which analyses the impact of NASA’s formation a few months ahead of the General Election says that if Raila Amolo Odinga becomes NASA’s Presidential candidate, Uhuru Kenyatta has no chance of winning the vote.
QUOTE: “Even without NASA, Raila Odinga remained the biggest threat to Jubilee and with the entry of Musalia Mudavadi in Raila’s camp together with the willingness of both Kalonzo Musyoka and Musalia Mudavadi to stick with NASA, Jubilee has zero chance of winning a free and fair election”, the Report says.
The Report adds that the problem has been compounded by Jubilee’s loss of sections of the Rift Valley vote which, the Report says, will not vote as a block.
QUOTE: “The entry of Isaack Ruto’s Mashinani Party, the resurgence of KANU and the shift of certain voters to NASA will deny Jubilee exclusivity of votes in the Rift Valley with devastating consequences”, the Report says.
Another problem the report highlights is that Deputy President William Ruto has lost influence in the Rift Valley because the Kalenjin feel short-changed in the power sharing deal and inequitable distribution of development projects. The Report says that in 2013, Kalenjins voted for Jubilee because they sympathized with Ruto’s ICC predicament.
QUOTE: “Since the ICC threat is out of the way, sympathy votes have vanished and this, together with the factors enumerated in section two means that Jubilee cannot be guaranteed Rift Valley votes to the magnitude witnessed in 2013”, the Report says.
Among a raft of recommendations, the Report suggests that Uhuru Kenyatta should try to campaign outside Central Province like Raila Odinga who is spending little time in NASA’s strong-holds. It is after the the President was briefed about the Report that he started exhibiting an abnormal temper and increased anger at public functions and political rallies.
Immediately after the Report was released, Uhuru took a hard line with the striking Doctors and used abusive language against the Doctors probably knowing that whatever happens to the Doctors, he might not return to State House after the 8th of August. The President also unashamedly threatened to ban the Doctor’s Union in total violation of the New Constitution and International Law that guarantees the right of workers to organize freely and without state interference. Uhuru Kenyatta
Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta (/uhʊrʊ-keɪnjɑːtɑː/; born 26 October 1961) is the 4th and current President of Kenya, in office since 2013. He is the son of Jomo Kenyatta, Kenya's first president, and his fourth wife Ngina Kenyatta.
Uhuru Kenyatta was elected president of Kenya under The National Alliance (TNA), which was part of the Jubilee Alliance with his running mate William Ruto's United Republican Party (URP). Uhuru and Ruto won 50.07% of votes cast, with closest rivals, Raila Odinga and running mate Kalonzo Musyoka of the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy garnering 42%. Raila disputed the election results at the Supreme Court which however held (7–0) that the elections were free and fair. Uhuru Kenyatta was therefore sworn in as President on 9 April 2013.
Early life
Kenyatta is the son of Jomo Kenyatta, Kenya's founding father and first president (1964–1978). His family hails from the Kikuyu, a Bantu ethnic group. His given name "Uhuru" is from the Swahili term for "freedom", and was given to him in anticipation of Kenya's upcoming independence. Uhuru attended St Mary's School in Nairobi. Between 1979 and 1980, he also briefly worked as a teller at the Kenya Commercial Bank.

Plot: Danish brilliant pre-teen student Nis uses his summer holiday to learn Latin so he can properly study the Knights Templar inheritance on Bjornholm island from sources. Serbia’s third largest city, Nis is one of the most historically significant destinations in the entire country with loads of sites, attractions and monuments to show for it. Nis is famous for being the birthplace of the Roman Emperor Constantine the Great, the man responsible for converting the empire to Christianity. The city was known in those days as Naissus.
First stop in historic Nis is straight to the city center where David meets up with his tour guide to explore the Nis Fortress. The fortress was built during Turkish rule (1386 – 1878) as was regarded as one of the most beautiful buildings in the Balkans. The Nis Fortress was used as an armory, hammam (bath), and prison. Much of the original building is still standing. It is a free attraction where people are welcome to stroll the paths and check out the 2,000-year-old Roman tombstones within.
Nis didn’t escape the horrors of WWII, as evidenced by the presence of a German concentration camp. Through the years the camp housed 30,000 people, of which 12,000 were executed.
Continuing along, David and his tour guide go see Skull Tower, built by the Ottomans. The skulls are those of Serbs killed by Ottomans during the Battle of Čegar during the First Serbian Revolution in 1809. They then head to the Archaeological Hall of Nis to check out some Roman artifacts from ancient Naissus.
With a fascinating history and pedestrian-friendly streets, travelers stopping over in Nis will have no shortage of things to do!

According to a Report from the National Intelligence Services (NIS) circulating in State House, the Jubilee government will lose the general election scheduled for August 8th unless the election is rigged.
The Report, which analyses the impact of NASA’s formation a few months ahead of the General Election says that if Raila Amolo Odinga becomes NASA’s Presidential candidate, Uhuru Kenyatta has no chance of winning the vote.
QUOTE: “Even without NASA, Raila Odinga remained the biggest threat to Jubilee and with the entry of Musalia Mudavadi in Raila’s camp together with the willingness of both Kalonzo Musyoka and Musalia Mudavadi to stick with NASA, Jubilee has zero chance of winning a free and fair election”, the Report says.
The Report adds that the problem has been compounded by Jubilee’s loss of sections of the Rift Valley vote which, the Report says, will not vote as a block.
QUOTE: “The entry of Isaack Ruto’s Mashinani Party, the resurgence of KANU and the shift of certain voters to NASA will deny Jubilee exclusivity of votes in the Rift Valley with devastating consequences”, the Report says.
Another problem the report highlights is that Deputy President William Ruto has lost influence in the Rift Valley because the Kalenjin feel short-changed in the power sharing deal and inequitable distribution of development projects. The Report says that in 2013, Kalenjins voted for Jubilee because they sympathized with Ruto’s ICC predicament.
QUOTE: “Since the ICC threat is out of the way, sympathy votes have vanished and this, together with the factors enumerated in section two means that Jubilee cannot be guaranteed Rift Valley votes to the magnitude witnessed in 2013”, the Report says.
Among a raft of recommendations, the Report suggests that Uhuru Kenyatta should try to campaign outside Central Province like Raila Odinga who is spending little time in NASA’s strong-holds. It is after the the President was briefed about the Report that he started exhibiting an abnormal temper and increased anger at public functions and political rallies.
Immediately after the Report was released, Uhuru took a hard line with the striking Doctors and used abusive language against the Doctors probably knowing that whatever happens to the Doctors, he might not return to State House after the 8th of August. The President also unashamedly threatened to ban the Doctor’s Union in total violation of the New Constitution and International Law that guarantees the right of workers to organize freely and without state interference. Serbia’s third largest city, Nis is one of the most historically significant destinations in the entire country with loads of sites, attractions and monuments to show for it. Nis is famous for being the birthplace of the Roman Emperor Constantine the Great, the man responsible for converting the empire to Christianity. The city was known in those days as Naissus.
First stop in historic Nis is straight to the city center where David meets up with his tour guide to explore the Nis Fortress. The fortress was built during Turkish rule (1386 – 1878) as was regarded as one of the most beautiful buildings in the Balkans. The Nis Fortress was used as an armory, hammam (bath), and prison. Much of the original building is still standing. It is a free attraction where people are welcome to stroll the paths and check out the 2,000-year-old Roman tombstones within.
Nis didn’t escape the horrors of WWII, as evidenced by the presence of a German concentration camp. Through the years the camp housed 30,000 people, of which 12,000 were executed.
Continuing along, David and his tour guide go see Skull Tower, built by the Ottomans. The skulls are those of Serbs killed by Ottomans during the Battle of Čegar during the First Serbian Revolution in 1809. They then head to the Archaeological Hall of Nis to check out some Roman artifacts from ancient Naissus.
With a fascinating history and pedestrian-friendly streets, travelers stopping over in Nis will have no shortage of things to do!

According to a Report from the National Intelligence Services (NIS) circulating in State House, the Jubilee government will lose the general election scheduled for August 8th unless the election is rigged.
The Report, which analyses the impact of NASA’s formation a few months ahead of the General Election says that if Raila Amolo Odinga becomes NASA’s Presidential candidate, Uhuru Kenyatta has no chance of winning the vote.
QUOTE: “Even without NASA, Raila Odinga remained the biggest threat to Jubilee and with the entry of Musalia Mudavadi in Raila’s camp together with the willingness of both Kalonzo Musyoka and Musalia Mudavadi to stick with NASA, Jubilee has zero chance of winning a free and fair election”, the Report says.
The Report adds that the problem has been compounded by Jubilee’s loss of sections of the Rift Valley vote which, the Report says, will not vote as a block.
QUOTE: “The entry of Isaack Ruto’s Mashinani Party, the resurgence of KANU and the shift of certain voters to NASA will deny Jubilee exclusivity of votes in the Rift Valley with devastating consequences”, the Report says.
Another problem the report highlights is that Deputy President William Ruto has lost influence in the Rift Valley because the Kalenjin feel short-changed in the power sharing deal and inequitable distribution of development projects. The Report says that in 2013, Kalenjins voted for Jubilee because they sympathized with Ruto’s ICC predicament.
QUOTE: “Since the ICC threat is out of the way, sympathy votes have vanished and this, together with the factors enumerated in section two means that Jubilee cannot be guaranteed Rift Valley votes to the magnitude witnessed in 2013”, the Report says.
Among a raft of recommendations, the Report suggests that Uhuru Kenyatta should try to campaign outside Central Province like Raila Odinga who is spending little time in NASA’s strong-holds. It is after the the President was briefed about the Report that he started exhibiting an abnormal temper and increased anger at public functions and political rallies.
Immediately after the Report was released, Uhuru took a hard line with the striking Doctors and used abusive language against the Doctors probably knowing that whatever happens to the Doctors, he might not return to State House after the 8th of August. The President also unashamedly threatened to ban the Doctor’s Union in total violation of the New Constitution and International Law that guarantees the right of workers to organize freely and without state interference. “Maratona e Këngës”, koncerti më i dashur dhe më masiv për shqiptarët ka startuar edicionin e tij të nëntë. Qyteti antik i Durrësit ishte përzgjedhur si ndalesa e parë nga Televizioni Klan, Promotor dhe Qendra Sot për të Ardhmen.
Nën kujdesin e Bashkisë së këtij qyteti, 35 artistë shqiptarë performuan hitet më të reja muzikore.
Më shumë se 3 orë muzikë i dhanë freski një mbrëmjeje pranë pedonales, ku emra të mëdhenj të muzikës si; Bujar Qamili, Irma dhe Eranda Libohova, Eli Fara, Gjergj Leka e Irini Qirjako, por dhe artistë të tjerë e kthyen në një pistë kërcimi sheshin përpara bashkisë së qytetit.
Një koncert që mban firmën e producentëve artistikë Bledi Laço, Adrian Hila e Pandi Laço dhe sjell në skenë produksionet e kompozitorëve më të suksesshëm, artistë të rrymave të ndryshme muzikore, por gjithashtu bashkon shqiptarët nga mbarë trevat kudo ndodhen, duke qenë eventi më popullor i këtij sezoni veror.
