Corrugated fiberboard is a material consisting of a fluted corrugated sheet and one or two flat linerboards. It is made on "flute lamination machines" or "corrugators" and is used in the manufacture of shipping containers and corrugated boxes.
The corrugated medium and linerboard board both are made of kraft containerboard, a paperboard material usually over 0.01 inches (0.25 mm) thick. Corrugated fiberboard and paperboard are sometimes called corrugated cardboard, although cardboard might be any heavy paper-pulp based board.
Corrugated (also called pleated) paper was patented in England in 1856, and used as a liner for tall hats, but corrugated boxboard was not patented and used as a shipping material until December 20, 1871. The patent was issued to Albert Jones of New York City for single-sided (single-face) corrugated board. Jones used the corrugated board for wrapping bottles and glass lantern chimneys. The first machine for producing large quantities of corrugated board was built in 1874 by G. Smyth, and in the same year Oliver Long improved upon Jones' design by inventing corrugated board with liner sheets on both sides, thereby inventing corrugated board as it came to be known in modern times.
How It's Made is a documentary television series that premiered on January 6, 2001 on the Discovery Channel (now known as Discovery Science) in Canada, and Science in the United States. The program is produced in the Canadian province of Quebec by Productions MAJ, Inc. and Productions MAJ 2. In the United Kingdom, it is transmitted on Discovery Channel, Quest, and DMAX.
The show is a documentary showing how common, everyday items (including clothing and accessories like alligator handbags, foodstuffs like bubble gum, industrial products such as engines, musical instruments such as guitars, and sporting goods such as snowboards) are manufactured.
How It's Made is filmed without exploratory text to simplify overdubbing in different languages. For example, the show avoids showing a narrator or host onscreen, does not often have employees of featured companies speak on camera, and keeps human interaction with the manufacturing process to a bare minimum.
An off-screen narrator explains each process, often with humorous puns. Each half-hour show usually has three or four main segments, with each product getting a demonstration of approximately five minutes; exceptions are allowed in the allotted time for more complex products. Usually, every show has at least one product with a historic background note preceding it: Showing how and where the product originated, and what people used before it.

Green, Light and Strong. This stool is entirely created from 100% green material using Super Corrugated Hardboard and Softboard to illustrate usage its strength. There has been no further development over the past century (1900-2012) for Hardboard until we came up with a new ground up development process that allows us to manufacture this new innovative material. A small scale production of super corrugated hardboard has been done to conduct more research. Corrugation pattern could be engineered to fully customize strength and thickness. Beside corrugation pattern, any desired 3D shapes and forms can be created. For more info, please send email to info@hardboardthai.com INTERNATIONAL PATENT PENDING.

Cardboard boxes come in a wide variety of sizes shapes and colors but most share three basic structural components. One wavy sheet of paper called a flute, that is sandwiched between two flat sheets called liners. Together they form what's called a corrugated board. Production starts with a massive role of partially recycled paper. The width of the paper varies depending on the size of the boxes their making. Several feeds a machine called the corrugator. The machine presses the paper between two ridged rollers and is blasted with hot steam. This shapes the waves of the flute. Another roller applies glue to one side of the flute. The glues main ingredients are water and starch, which won't contaminate fresh produce the boxes may later contain. Next the machine adheres one liner sheet and t...

Ali Golzad: "... To me, these are invisible people. My choice of material, corrugated cardboard, to create bas-relief portraits of displaced children in their native habitats, reflects their unseen status. Like corrugated cardboard, the twenty million are everywhere yet invisible. I have struggled with my material to create images that are highly emotional. The three-dimensional shapes of the eyes, noses and mouths, the wrinkled clothing, and the shapes of the hands and arms, outlined with Sharpie-lines, are a result of my struggle with the cardboard to capture the empathy we would have for any enslaved people." http://golzadartblog.com/
