The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) is the public service broadcaster of the United Kingdom, headquartered at Broadcasting House in London.
The BBC is the world's oldest national broadcasting organisation and the largest broadcaster in the world by number of employees, with over 20,950 staff in total, of whom 16,672 are in public sector broadcasting; including part-time, flexible as well as fixed contract staff, the total number is 35,402.
The BBC is established under a Royal Charter and operates under its Agreement with the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport. Its work is funded principally by an annual television licence fee which is charged to all British households, companies, and organisations using any type of equipment to receive or record live television broadcasts. The fee is set by the British Government, agreed by Parliament, and used to fund the BBC's extensive radio, TV, and online services covering the nations and regions of the UK. From 1 April 2014, it also funds the BBC World Service, launched in 1932, which provides comprehensive TV, radio, and online services in Arabic, and Persian, and broadcasts in 28 languages.

From working out how many there were to discovering their unique relationships with each other, the early scientists' bid to decode the hidden order of the elements was driven by false starts and bitter disputes. But ultimately the quest would lead to one of chemistry's most beautiful intellectual creations - the periodic table.

BBC Knowledge and Learning is exploring a wide variety of topics from social history to science in a series of three-minute online Explainer documentaries, and commissioned Territory (www.territorystudio.com) to produce an animated film on the subject of DNA. As Will Samuel, lead designer and animator on the project explains, the approach taken wasn’t just to look into a scientific future. “We needed to find a graphic style to communicate the beauty and intricacy of DNA. We wanted to create nostalgia; taking the audience back to the days of textbook diagrams and old science documentaries, such as Carl Sagan's COSMOS and IBM’s POWER OF TEN (1977). Using the double helix circular theme as a core design we focused on form, movement and colour to create a consistent flow to the animation, dra...

BBC earth launched in February 2015 with new branded strands to show case their premium factual programming. Our brief was to create a set of bold presentation elements that would be distinct but at the same time sit within the new channels overall clean typographic style.
Music: Histibe http://soundcloud.com/histibe "Histibe is one of the leading lights of the new revolution in drum & bass and the wider electronic scene in the former USSR and beyond." – Kmag UK, 2011 The project is almost documentaristic, as it was entirely shot in the streets of London and Tottenham with passers-by. Some of them were asked to try a face-beat-machine which would follow the beats of the track after being attached to their skin. The video is inspired by the multiculturalism and the diversities of our modern cities. I was asked by RED BEE Media to design, direct and animate a branded animation for BBC Sport. The result is this short, punchy animation that suggests the rush and excitement of sporting events while remaining fairly generic with the sporting imagery it features. I personally created and animated all elements using Cinema 4D, After Effects, Illustrator and Photoshop.

I'll try again but lose in the end. I just can't seem to connect.
'Cause alienation clouds my perception and ruins every new attempt.
It's hard to see clearly when you're crippled with regret
Or staring blankly through a lens of bitter self-contempt.
I just want to be kept safe from the elements outside
Or to be part of a someone else's life, further away from mine.
And when December comes I'll need the warmth of ultraviolet light.
And though I know the clouds don't listen well, I hope they can hear me now.
I'll keep sending messages into the abyss,
Hoping for some kind of response but nothing will come of it.
How does one feel a sense of hope when the storm is yet to come,
Or believe the earth will bring them life when they're always losing someone?
I just want to be kept safe from the elements outside
Or to be part of a someone else's life, further away from mine.
And when December comes I'll need the warmth of ultraviolet light.
And though I know the clouds don't listen well, I hope they can hear me now.
These nights are getting longer as my body grows colder,
And I want shelter from the world
Despite failure to get closer to the comfort of another.
I need it now more than ever, more than ever
Bring me home to a world of your own.
