Cassandra Thorburn and kids move into $8m Cremorne house without Karl Stefanovic

Show comments

There has been some reprieve for Cassandra Thorburn and children amid an acrimonious split with her husband of 21 years, Karl Stefanovic.

After seven weeks in temporary accommodation, Thorburn, 46, and their three children, Jackson, 17, Ava, 12, and River, 10, have moved into the $8 million Cremorne waterfront mansion that she and the Channel Nine Today show host, 42, had put a 10 per cent deposit on before they split.

Karl Stefanovic goes public with new girlfriend

Months after announcing his split from his wife of 21 years, Today host Karl Stefanovic is photographed sailing in Sydney with new girlfriend Jasmine Yarbrough.

It is unknown for how long Thorburn and the children will call the house "home", but it is believed it has brought some relief to the family.

The outcome of the Cremorne property had been in limbo with building being put on hold after the pair sold their Lindfield property for $3.8 million in November.

However, with the young family going through the arduous task of moving out of Lindfield in April during Easter school holidays, while Stefanovic had been on holidays with his girlfriend, Jasmine Yarbrough, 33, and her parents and brother in Cabo, Mexico, they could not be expected to remain in temporary accommodation long-term.

It is believed that the intention is now to complete the purchase given that if they walked away from the deal it would have cost them more than $800,000.

Stefanovic had appeared to regard the luxury property as a place that would be fit to entertain his celebrity friends, particularly casino mogul James Packer, celebrity accountant Anthony Bell, and Today co-host Richard Wilkins. "But his interests in the property have since faded," a family friend observed to Fairfax Media recently.

Thorburn had been considering legal action over a report in a tabloid last month that claimed she and Stefanovic came to an agreement on their split with the odds strongly in her favour.

"This is entirely untrue, nothing has been decided or agreed," another family member said.

Stefanovic walked out on Thorburn unexpectedly at the end of July last year. The children live full-time with their mother, while Stefanovic visits.
