Modern Poetry (ENGL 310) with Langdon Hammer Hart Crane's masterwork The Bridge is positioned as a response to the modernist aesthetics of T.S. Eliot's The Waste Land. The visionary and specifically American aspects of the epic are stressed. Crane's interest in myth and symbol, his inclusion and treatment of marginal figures, and his refiguring of the American hero are considered alongside his unique perspective on the role of imagination in the creation and shaping of history. 00:00 - Chapter 1. Hart Crane Poem: "Voyages" 07:54 - Chapter 2. Unabridged audio book - Genre(s): Action & Adventure Fiction, Science Fiction Space Tug by Murray Leinster (1896 - 1975) Joe Kenmore heard the airlock close with a sickening wheeze and then a clank. In desperation he turned toward Haney. "My God, we've been locked out!" Through the transparent domes of their space helmets, Joe could see a look of horror and disbelief pass across Haney's face. But it was true! Joe and his crew were locked out of the Space Platform. Four thousand miles below circled the Earth. Under Joe's feet rested the solid steel hull of his home in outer space. But without tools there was no hope of getting back inside. Joe looked at his oxygen meter. It registered thirty minutes to live. Opaline through her hair
Born on an April tide
Glowing in the wonder of our first child
There my promise is
A spur
A rein
The world upon my back
The pressure upon this earth
Drought's heir
Sown my money
Sold my shirt
Sown my money
Migrate
Job on the threshing line
Mute I walk
Idle ground
