Hey guys! This is the fifth and final vlog from my trip to Ireland! I left Galway and headed to Dublin to catch a train to this beautiful seaside town called Howth. Ranger is a blue merle Australian Shepherd puppy. He is super sweet and loves to cuddle and play! We love him so much and are so happy our family is growing! We got a call about a poor Fox who was attacked by a large German Shepard. The fox was last seen in a very large and wild meadow. We were extremely lucky and managed to find him.

Some notes on the rescue -
I'm a volunteer and received the notification while I was out and about on a Sunday. I didn't have all my gear with me, but I knew the most important thing was to respond as quickly as possible. For a number of other reasons I couldn't stop back home to grab a long sleeves or trousers.
When we saw the fox I did request the help of the finder to go and get my 'catch pole'. However, the problem with the catching pole is this; if it scares the fox I will be too far away (the length of the pole) to go to plan B (hands on)... so I elected to take the most effective and most probably rescue - to go hands on.
Another thing about this video is that I'm wearing small gloves (larger gloves later). I elect to use these smaller gloves - I'm happy to trade some protection for increase dexterity. I feel if I was wearing heavy duty welders gloves he would have wriggled free.
Finally, transferring him from the carrier to the crush crate looks rough, but the reality is he's just a feisty little dude and we had to do it this way.
He's on his way to Kildare Animal Foundation Wildlife Unit where he will have the very best care available in Ireland.

Howth
Howth (/ˈhoʊθ/; Irish: Binn Éadair, meaning "Éadar's peak") is a village and outer suburb of Dublin, Ireland. The district occupies the greater part of the peninsula of Howth Head, forming the northern boundary of Dublin Bay. Originally just a small fishing village, Howth with its surrounding once-rural district is now a busy suburb of Dublin, with a mix of dense residential development and wild hillside. The only neighbouring district on land is Sutton. Howth is also home to one of the oldest occupied buildings in Ireland, Howth Castle.
Howth has been a filming location for movies such as The Last of the High Kings and Boy Eats Girl.
Location and access
Howth is located on the peninsula of Howth Head, which begins around 13 kilometres (8.1 mi) east-north-east of Dublin, on the north side of Dublin Bay. The village itself is located 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) from Dublin city centre (the ninth of a series of eighteenth century milestones from the Dublin General Post Office (GPO) is in the village itself), and spans most of the northern part of Howth Head, which is connected to the rest of Dublin via a narrow strip of land (or tombolo) at Sutton Cross.

It is separated from Great Britain to its east by the North Channel, the Irish Sea, and St George's Channel. Ireland is the second-largest island of the British Isles, the third-largest in Europe, and the twentieth-largest on Earth.
Politically, Ireland is divided between the Republic of Ireland (officially named Ireland), which covers five-sixths of the island, and Northern Ireland, which is part of the United Kingdom, and located in the northeast of the island. In 2011 the population of Ireland was about 6.4 million, ranking it the second-most populous island in Europe after Great Britain. The island's geography comprises relatively low-lying mountains surrounding a central plain, with several navigable rivers extending inland. Howth | The Perennial Plate
Just outside of Dublin's city center lies the fishing village of Howth. Idyllic and peaceful as the town may be, the Irish sea was not as accommodating when we went out on Joe Caufield's boat to empty his crab traps. Some notes on the rescue -
I'm a volunteer and received the notification while I was out and about on a Sunday. I didn't have all my gear with me, but I knew the most important thing was to respond as quickly as possible. For a number of other reasons I couldn't stop back home to grab a long sleeves or trousers.
When we saw the fox I did request the help of the finder to go and get my 'catch pole'. However, the problem with the catching pole is this; if it scares the fox I will be too far away (the length of the pole) to go to plan B (hands on)... so I elected to take the most effective and most probably rescue - to go hands on.
Another thing about this video is that I'm wearing small gloves (larger gloves later). I elect to use these smaller gloves - I'm happy to trade some protection for increase dexterity. I feel if I was wearing heavy duty welders gloves he would have wriggled free.
Finally, transferring him from the carrier to the crush crate looks rough, but the reality is he's just a feisty little dude and we had to do it this way.
He's on his way to Kildare Animal Foundation Wildlife Unit where he will have the very best care available in Ireland.

Just outside of Dublin's city center lies the fishing village of Howth. Idyllic and peaceful as the town may be, the Irish sea was not as accommodating when we went out on Joe Caufield's boat to empty his crab traps. This film captures that rough experience on the water as well Joe's stay in business as a small fisherman. Also, this is probably the first film in English that we've had to subtitle: what an accent!

You don't have to splash out the big bucks to travel. I personally think the best way to travel is on a budget, as you get to see the real destination.
So what can you do in Dublin for free? There's plenty of things to do in Dublin for free, but be warned, it involves lots of walking, which is perfect if you want to indulge in Dublin pub culture.
Here are my top suggestions on things to do in Dublin for free...
Day trip to Howth
Take the dart from Central Dublin, which takes around 30mins, and costs around €7 return. Go for a long walk around Howth and stop off for an ice cream from Ann's. Remember to take good walking shoes.
Canals
Walk around the canals at Twilight. The lights from the artwork in front of the theatre is pretty magical.
Pheonix Park
Take a 45 minute walk to Pheonix Park, along the Liffey River, it takes you along some good views, as well as being a straight forward walk. There's loads to see in Pheonix Park, such as Dublin Zoo, the Washington Memorial, Magazine Fort and much more.
National Museum of Ireland
This former Army hospital has been transformed into a Museum. There's loads to see plus it's free to go in.
