Television broadcasting started in the United Kingdom in 1936 as public service free of advertising. Now there is a collection of free-to-air, free-to-view and subscription services over a variety of distribution media, through which there are over 480 channels for consumers as well as on-demand content. There are six main channel owners who are responsible for most viewing. There are 27,000 hours of domestic content produced a year at a cost of £2.6 billion. Since 24 October 2012, all television broadcasts in the United Kingdom are in a digital format, following the end of analogue transmissions in Northern Ireland. Digital content is delivered via terrestrial, satellite and cable as well as over IP.
Free-to-air, free-to-view and subscription providers are available, with differences in the number of channels, capabilities such as the programme guide (EPG), video on demand (VOD), high-definition (HD), interactive television via the red button, and coverage across the UK. Set-top boxes are generally used to receive these services; however Integrated digital televisions (IDTVs) can also be used to receive Freeview or Freesat. Most TVs sold in the UK come with a DVB-T (terrestrial) tuner for Freeview – a rare thing in Europe. BT TV and TalkTalk Plus TV, both based on YouView, utilise hybrid boxes which receive Freeview as well as additional subscription services. Households viewing TV from the internet (YouTube, Joost, downloads etc.) are not tracked by Ofcom. The UK's five most watched channels, BBC One, BBC Two, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5, are available from all providers.

British Columbia, also commonly referred to by its initials BC, is a province located on the west coast of Canada. British Columbia is also a component of the Pacific Northwest and the Cascadia bioregion, along with the US states of Idaho, Oregon, Washington and Alaska The province's name was chosen in 1858 by members of the Hudson's Bay Company. In 1871, it became the sixth province of Canada. Its Latin motto is Splendor sine occasu ("Splendour without Diminishment").
The capital of British Columbia is Victoria, the fifteenth-largest metropolitan region in Canada, named for the Queen who created the Colony of British Columbia. The largest city is Vancouver, the third-largest metropolitan area in Canada, the largest in Western Canada, and the second-largest in the Pacific Northwest. In October 2013, British Columbia had an estimated population of 4,606,371 (about 2.5 million of whom were in Greater Vancouver). The province is currently governed by the BC Liberal Party, led by Premier Christy Clark, who became leader as a result of a leadership convention vote on February 26, 2011, and who led her party to an election victory on May 14, 2013.

The Great Nude: Great British Figurative Art
Award-winning feature-length family film starring Kevin Whately as Steve, a single father who, after losing his job as an architect, sets up a guest house with young daughter Alice to avoid losing his home as well. Will they succeed, or will the unscrupulous property developers get their way? This was originally broadcast as a two-part drama on Friday, 19th and 26th June, 1992, and is absolutely not to be confused with the 2016 Paul McGann film of the same name, or the 1992 Roger Moore romantic comedy Bed & Breakfast. This is genuinely heart-warming stuff with a full range of emotions, yet it never crosses the line into soppiness and still manages to retain a sense of both real peril and humour at the same time. The set piece with Roger Sloman and the moving hat (trying to avoid spoilers)...

There are tons of differences between American and British TV! As a former NBC employee and now an American expat in London, I share things that are the same and different between UK vs USA television in this video. If you are planning on living in London as an American, you'll want to know which of your favorite shows will be easy for you to see here. And, I will explain what television shows are very difficult to see. Plus, you can learn about American shows that actually started in the UK, but with different casts, as well as popular American shows that were created in England first! "During the winter of 2011, my brother Neil and I were presented with a once in a lifetime opportunity. We were to spend two months embedded in the heart of the Kootenays at the legendary Retallack Lodge. The mission was to shred pow with our good friend Tanner, who was on his comeback, and to help film Retallack:The Movie for Inspired Media Concepts. I took the role of the dedicated time lapse junkie, while Neil was a true on slope camera master. This video is a showcase of our skills behind the camera, as well as a few of our favorite long lens shots from Retallack:The Movie. Time lapses make way for deep powder mining, and a trip into the heart of the "silvery slocan" to see how silver miners conquered the mountains a century ago. Mining for powder in the Selkirk mountains is serious bu...

In the far north lies the place with glacier fresh Kokanees, Tim Hortons, and some of the best whitewater on planet earth. This episode features the whitewater close to one of our favorite destinations, Squamish BC. The locals call it SQUAMTON! With footage from rivers like Ashlu Box Canyon, Mamquam Falls, Lions Bay Slide, Dipper Creek, and Fear Canyon of the Elaho let this episode guide you through a whitewater paradise where cougars roam free, bears s*#t in the woods, and kayakers are in eternal search of Simpler Times. Early Fall the crew banded together and started pinning it straight north. Destination= Stikine! The Grand Canyon of the Stikine holds some of the biggest, gnarliest whitewater on planet earth. It is regarded as one of the most challenging overnight river trips, and lies in deep, dark northern british columbia. After a solid 25 hours in the car, the crew arrived to the put-in blessed with perfect weather, perfect flows and a perfect crew. We spent 3 days in the insanely beautiful canyon in which Ben Marr logged the first complete descent of the Stikine by paddling every rapid, Including the never previously run SIte Zed. There were huge rapids, sick lines, beautiful views, and most importantly good times all around. It was the river-trip of a lifetime. We got off the Stikine feeling blesse...
Client: British Airways Agency: BBH Production Agency: Jelly London Direction & Animation: Mr Kaplin Grade: Suite TV We worked with our lovely rep agency Jelly London on this online and social campaign for British Airways’ On Business scheme. The brief was work with the existing brand creative and make a 3D animation that utilised each of the four On Business logos to demonstrate simply how the scheme works. We wanted to ensure that the piece had a ‘flow’ to it so for us the key was coming up with the right transitions to move us from one logo to another in a way that was interesting but also seemed natural and complemented the logos themselves. On Business is a free to join loyalty programme, run by British Airways, American Airlines and Iberia, that saves companies money on flights ...
The 2013 British & Irish Lions Rugby tour to Australia was one of the most anticipated sporting events of the year. The clash was epic - and the TV commercial for the event was just as heroic. As lead Flame Artist/compositor it was my task to ensure absolute realism for the commercial - especially those shots involving the lion, shot on bluescreen half a world away! In addition to re-lighting the existing lion footage in 2D, there was a lot of other comp to do - such as adding feet to the lion where they were cropped out of frame, removing signage from the stadium, matte painting and re-lighting for the stadium to make the setting more ambiguous, plate cleanups, comping the boy into shots that were previously sans boy, rebuilding the stadium and projecting onto geometry to fake camera mov...

Take the time to think about
What it'd be like with me around
I know that I would bring you down
I know what I'm like
Take your time to set aside
To comtemplate all of your life
With me around the other side
When you are there without me
Without me
Stop calling
You're not allowed to fall in
Love with me
Stop stalling
For the time to make me fall for you
Don't be stupid, don't be scared
I just didn't want you in my bed
You know our love fucks with my head
It's not, you it's me
I know you're back and sound cliché
But there's no other way to say
I can't be this, I'm too afraid
You're better off without me
Without me
Stop calling
You're not allowed to fall in
Love with me
Stop stalling
For the time to make me fall for you
This ship is going down (x2)
Let's go before you drown
Well this ship is going down
