Harry Lillis "Bing" Crosby, Jr. (May 3, 1903 – October 14, 1977) was an American singer and actor. Crosby's trademark warm bass-baritone voice made him the best-selling recording artist of the 20th century, having sold over one billion records, tapes, compact discs and digital downloads around the world.
The first multimedia star, from 1931 to 1954 Crosby was a leader in record sales, radio ratings, and motion picture grosses. His early career coincided with technical recording innovations such as the microphone. This allowed him to develop a laid-back, intimate singing style that influenced many of the popular male singers who followed him, including Perry Como,Frank Sinatra, and Dean Martin. Yank magazine recognized Crosby as the person who had done the most for American G.I. morale during World War II and, during his peak years, around 1948, American polls declared him the "most admired man alive", ahead of Jackie Robinson and Pope Pius XII. Also in 1948, the Music Digest estimated that Crosby recordings filled more than half of the 80,000 weekly hours allocated to recorded radio music.

Bing is a web search engine owned and operated by Microsoft. The service has its origins in Microsoft's previous search engines: MSN Search, Windows Live Search and later Live Search. Bing provides a variety of search services, including web, video, image and map search products. It uses the ASP.NET programming language and follows the design principles of Microsoft's "Metro" design language.
Bing, Microsoft's replacement for Live Search, was unveiled by Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer on May 28, 2009, at the All Things Digital conference in San Diego, California, for release on June 1, 2009. Notable new features at the time included the listing of search suggestions while queries are entered and a list of related searches (called "Explore pane") based on semantic technology from Powerset, which Microsoft had acquired in 2008.
In July 2009, Microsoft and Yahoo! announced a deal in which Bing would power Yahoo! Search. All Yahoo! Search global customers and partners made the transition by early 2012. The deal was altered in 2015, meaning Yahoo! was only required to use Bing for a "majority" of searches.

The Andrews Sisters were an American close harmony singing group of the swing and boogie-woogie eras. The group consisted of three sisters: contralto LaVerne Sophia (July 6, 1911 – May 8, 1967), soprano Maxine Angelyn "Maxene" (January 3, 1916 – October 21, 1995), and mezzo-soprano Patricia Marie "Patty" (February 16, 1918 – January 30, 2013). Throughout their long career, the sisters sold well over 75 million records (the last official count released by MCA Records in the mid-1970s). Their 1941 hit "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" can be considered an early example of rhythm and blues or jump blues.
The Andrews Sisters' harmonies and songs are still influential today, and have been covered by entertainers such as Bette Midler, Christina Aguilera, and others. The group was inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 1998. Writing for Bloomberg, Mark Schoifet said the sisters became the most popular female vocal group of the first half of the 20th century. They are still widely acclaimed today for their famous close harmonies.

The 1953 Bing Crosby $10,000 Invitational National Pro-Am at Pebble Beach, California, held January 9-11, 1953. Not a bad day for golf! Bob Hope, Bing Crosby, and a few other recognizable faces appear on the greens. Lloyd Mangrum won the tournament. The Music is Bing's own "Straight Down The Middle." Filmed by my grandfather, William Foley, on Cine-Kodak Super-X 8mm film, and telecined in cooperation with The California Pioneers of Santa Clara County's Pioneer Film Archive. www.CaliforniaPioneers.com
The holiday quartet strikes again! For our 2013 video we decided to sing The Andrews Sisters/Bing Crosby arrangement of the modern Christmas classic, "Mele Kalikimaka." Naturally the title is derived for the Hawaiian phrase for, "Merry Christmas." We thought it would be fun to go as authentic as possible with this one, thus the quasi-militaristic costuming for Ashley. I'm wearing the uniform of a WWII private for the jazz band shots. The dinner jacket look is copying the Bing Crosby outfit from the movie "Road to Rio" with Bob Hope. The blocking comes specifically from the song, "You Don't Have to Learn The Language." The big USO banner on the stage is an attempt to recreate the look of the touring concerts supporting the troops abroad during the war. Incidentally this version of the song...

One of the very few LIVE recordings that featured Bing Crosby as he performed at the famed Cocoanut Grove at the Ambassador Hotel Los Angeles. The footage is a combination of shots that I filmed in the mid 1990's and actual footage of the Cocoanut Grove and Gus Arnheim & his Orchestra. The girl singing with Bing is the resident female vocalist Loyce Whiteman.

David Bowie - "Heroes" - French TV “Remaster” - 1977 “Heroes” was originally released as a single in September 1977 and was then subsequently a track on David Bowie’s “Heroes” album, released in October 1977. The “Heroes” material was remarkably quickly recorded (usually in one take) and mixed in August 1977. Then the album and the single were released equally swiftly, in September and October respectively. During those two months, Bowie undertook a short promotional tour, recording TV shows, where he performed “Heroes”. During the same period, Bowie also shot the Stanley Dorfman directed, “Heroes” video. The recordings were: UK - The Marc Show – September 7th UK - Bing Crosby's Merrie Olde Christmas TV Special – September 11th UK “Heroes” video shoot - September 25th Italy – Odeon...
In 1936, songwriter Alex North approached Bing Crosby with the still untitled song. Crosby turned the song down and it remained unrecorded for almost twenty years. In 1955, North and lyricist Hy Zaret were contracted to write a song as a theme for the prison film Unchained, and their song eventually became known as the "Unchained Melody". The song does not actually include the word "unchained", and songwriter Zaret chose instead to focus his lyrics on someone who pines for a lover he has not seen in a "long, lonely time".The 1955 film centers around a man who contemplates either escaping from prison to live life on the run, or completing his sentence and returning to his wife and family. The song has an unusual harmonic device in that the bridge ends on the tonic chord, rather than the more u...

In '44 Judy Garland canta pentru prima oara Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas in musical-ul Meet Me in Saint Louis, pentru ca, ceva mai tarziu, in '57 Frank Sinatra sa definitiveze textul piesei si sa introduca pe albumul A jolly Christmas versiunea pe care cu toti...

At the age of 37, Bing Crosby had 24 films behind him and his Hollywood career was at a crossroads.
For our 2013 video we decided to sing The Andrews Sisters/Bing Crosby arrangement of the modern Christmas classic, "Mele Kalikimaka." We thought it would be fun to go as authentic as possible with this one, thus the quasi-militaristic costuming for Ashley.

In the shadows let me come and sing to you
Let me dream a song that I can bring to you
Take me in your arms and let me cling to you
Let me linger long, let me live my song
In the winter let me bring the spring to you
Let me feel that I mean everything to you
Love's old song will be new
In the shadows when I come and sing to you
Shadows on the wall I can see them fall
Here and there everywhere
Silhouettes in blue dancing in the dew
Here am I, where are you?
In the winter let me bring the spring to you
Let me feel that I mean everything to you
Love's old song will be new
In the shadows when I come and sing to you, dear
