Project CARS

Project CARS is a motorsport racing simulator video game developed by Slightly Mad Studios and published by Bandai Namco Games. It was released in May 2015 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Project CARS was originally also due for release on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii U but it was later announced that these versions had been cancelled.

Gameplay

Features

Project CARS is intended to represent a realistic driving simulation. In order to differentiate the game from the established industry leaders, Gran Turismo and Forza Motorsport, Slightly Mad Studios' aim is a "sandbox" approach that allows the player to choose between a variety of different motorsports paths and grants immediate access to all included tracks and vehicles.Project CARS portrays racing events spanning multiple days, progressing from shakedown and qualifying runs to the race itself, while changes in weather and lighting conditions are simulated dynamically.

Physics simulation

Project CARS adopts an improved version of the Madness engine, which was the basis for the Need for Speed: Shift titles. More processing power available in modern computers allows for the introduction of a dynamic tire model named "SETA", rather than the steady-state model based on lookup tables, as seen in previous generation simulations. To accommodate differing skill levels, Slightly Mad Studios offers gamers (with or without a digital wheel) various driver aids and input filtering methods.

Project

Overview

The word project comes the Latin word projectum from the Latin verb proicere, "before an action" which in turn comes from pro-, which denotes precedence, something that comes before something else in time (paralleling the Greek πρό) and iacere, "to do". The word "project" thus actually originally meant "before an action".

When the English language initially adopted the word, it referred to a plan of something, not to the act of actually carrying this plan out. Something performed in accordance with a project became known as an "object".Every project has certain phases of development.

McLaren F1

The McLaren F1 is a supercar designed and manufactured by McLaren Cars. Originally a concept conceived by Gordon Murray, he convinced Ron Dennis to back the project and engaged Peter Stevens to design the exterior and interior of the car. On 31 March 1998, it set the record for the world's fastest production car, reaching 231 mph (372 km/h) with the rev limiter enabled, and 242.8 mph (390.7 km/h) with the rev limiter removed. The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 beat it in 2005 with a top speed of 253.81 mph (408.47 km/h) according to Top Gear.

The car features numerous proprietary designs and technologies; it is lighter and has a more streamlined structure than many modern sports cars, despite having one seat more than most similar sports cars, with the driver's seat located in the centre (and slightly forward) of two passengers' seating positions, providing driver visibility superior to that of a conventional seating layout. It features a powerful engine and is somewhat track oriented, but not to the degree that it compromises everyday usability and comfort. It was conceived as an exercise in creating what its designers hoped would be considered the ultimate road car. Despite not having been designed as a track machine, a modified race car edition of the vehicle won several races, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1995, where it faced purpose-built prototype race cars. Production began in 1992 and ended in 1998. In all, 106 cars were manufactured, with some variations in the design.

Max Verstappen

Max Emilian Verstappen (Dutch pronunciation: [mɑks eːˈmiliɑn vɛrˈstɑpən]; born 30 September 1997, Hasselt, Belgium) is a Belgian-Dutch racing driver who competes under the Dutch flag in Formula One with the Scuderia Toro Rosso racing team. Verstappen is the youngest World Championship Grand Prix driver in the history of the sport, having made his début aged 7008550821600000000♠17 years, 166 days, at the 2015 Australian Grand Prix. He is the son of former F1 driver Jos Verstappen.

Family and private life

Verstappen's family has a long association with motor sports. His father, Jos Verstappen, is a former Formula One driver, while his mother, Sophie Kumpen, competed in karting. His uncle, Anthony Kumpen, competed in endurance racing and is currently a NASCAR Whelen Euro Series driver.

Although he was born in the Belgian town of Hasselt to a Dutch father and Belgian mother, lives in Bree, Belgium and travels with a Belgian passport, Verstappen decided to compete with a Dutch racing licence as he spent most of his karting time surrounded by Dutch people while growing up in Maaseik, a Belgian town at the Dutch border.
